Vehicle status information and indicators
■Display items
 Odometer
Displays the total distance the vehicle has
been driven.
Trip meter A/trip meter B
Displays the distance the vehicle has been
driven since the meter was last reset. Trip
meters A and B can be used to record and
display different distances independently.
 Distance until next engine oil
change
Displays the distance the vehicle can be
driven until an oil change is necessary.
■Changing the display
Each time the “ODO TRIP” switch is
pressed, the displayed item will be changed. When the trip meter is dis-
played, pressing and holding the switch
will reset the trip meter.
■Pop-up display
Distance until next engine oil change
Displays the distance until the next engine
oil change. This display will be displayed in
the following situations:
 When the power switch is turned to
ON mode.
 When a warning message indicating
that oil maintenance should be per-
formed soon or is required is dis-
played.
The brightness of the instrument panel
lights can be adjusted.
If the brightness is adjusted when the
surroundings are bright and the tail lights
are on (day mode brightness adjustment),
the brightness level of night mode will be
adjusted at the same time.
WARNING
For example, there is a lag between the
driver’s shifting and the new gear number
appearing on the display. This lag could
cause the driver to downshift again,
causing rapid and excessive engine brak-
ing and possibly an accident resulting in
death or injury.
NOTICE
■To prevent damage to the engine and
its components
●Do not let the indicator needle of the
tachometer enter the red zone, which
indicates the maxi mum engine speed.
●The engine may be overheating if the
engine coolant temperature gauge is
in the red zone (H). In this case, imme-
diately stop the vehicle in a safe place,
and check the engine after it has
cooled completely. ( P.446)

■Brightness of the meters (day mode and
night mode)
The brightness of the meters is changed
between day mode and night mode.
●Day mode: When the tail lights are off or
when the tail lights are on but the sur-
rounding area is bright
●Night mode: When the tail lights are on
and the surrounding area is dark

Except F SPORT models
By selecting menu icons on the
multi-information display, a variety of
driving-related information can be dis-
played. The multi-information display
can also be used to change display set-
tings and other vehicle settings.
Warning or suggestion/advice pop-up
displays are also displayed in certain
situations.

■Suggestion to turn off the head-
lights
If the headlights are left on for a certain
amount of time after the power switch
has been turned off, a suggestion mes-
sage will be displayed asking if you
wish to turn the headlights off.
To turn the headlights off, select “Yes”.
If a front door is opened after the power
switch is turned off, this suggestion mes-
sage will not be displayed.

■Theft deterrent panic mode
When is pressed for longer than
about one second, an alarm will sound
intermittently and the vehicle lights will flash
to deter any person from trying to break
into or damage your vehicle.
To stop the alarm, pr ess any button on the
electronic key.
To take out the mechanical key, push

■To prevent key damage
●Do not drop the keys, subject them to
strong shocks or bend them.
●Do not expose the keys to high tem-
peratures for long periods of time.
●Do not get the keys wet or wash them
in an ultrasonic washer, etc.
●Do not attach meta llic or magnetic
materials to the keys or place the keys
close to such materials.
●Do not disassemb le the keys.
●Do not attach a sticker or anything else
to the surface of the electronic key.
●Do not place the keys near objects that
produce magnetic fields, such as TVs,
audio systems and induction cookers,
or medical electrical equipment, such
as low-frequency therapy equipment.
■Carrying the electronic key on your
person
Carry the electronic key 3.9 in. (10 cm)
or more away from electric appliances
that are turned on. Radio waves emitted
from electric applianc es within 3.9 in. (10
cm) of the electronic key may interfere
with the key, causing the key to not func-
tion properly.

3 When the kick sensor detects that
your foot is pulled back, a buzzer
will sound and the power back door
will automatically fully open/close.
If kick operation is performed again in the
middle of back door operating, the opera-
tion will stop.
■Hands free close & lock function*
(vehicles with Hands Free Power
Back Door)
*: This setting can be customized by your
Lexus dealer.
If the power back door is closed using a
Hands Free Power Back Door close
operation, all of the doors will be
locked at the same time.
A different buzzer than the normal one will
sound before the power back door begins
to close. The door lock operation signals
will operate to indicate that the power back
door has closed and al l of the doors have
locked simultaneously.
If a Hands Free Power Back Door opera-
tion is performed while the power back
door is operating, the power back door will
stop.
If a Hands Free Power Back Door opera- tion is performed again, the power back
door will open.
■Luggage compartment lights
●The luggage compartment lights turn on
when the back door is opened.
●When the power switch is turned off, the
lights will go off automatically after 20
minutes.
■Power back door operating conditions
If the following conditions are met with the
power back door oper ation enabled, the
power back door can be opened and
closed automatically.
●When an electronic key is being carried
and the back door opener switch is
pressed

●When the wireless remote control is
used*
●When the power switch is in ON mode,
the vehicle speed must be lower than 2
mph (3 km/h) and one of the following
conditions must be me t in addition to the
above conditions:
• The parking brake is engaged.
• The brake pedal is depressed.
• The shift lever is in P.
*: When the operation of the power back
door when it is locked has been disabled
by a customized setting, operate the
power back door after it has been
unlocked.
■Close & lock function operating condi-
tions
This function can be operated when all of
the following conditions are met:
• An electronic key is not detected within the vehicle.
• All of the doors other than the power back door are closed.
• The power switch is off.
■Hands Free Power Back Door operating
conditions (if equipped)
●The Hands Free Power Back Door (kick
sensor) setting is on.

Before driving
The height of the rear view mirror can
be adjusted to suit your driving pos-
ture.
Adjust the height of the rear view mir-
ror by moving it up and down.
Responding to the level of brightness
of the headlights of vehicles behind, the
reflected light is automatically
reduced.
Turn the automatic anti-glare function
mode on/off
When the automatic anti-glare function is
in ON mode, the indicator illuminates.
The function will set to ON mode each
time the power switch is turned to ON
mode.
Pressing the button turns the function to
OFF mode. (The indicator also turns
off.)
■To prevent sensor error
To ensure that the sensors operate properly,
do not touch or cover them.
Inside rear view mirror
The rear view mirror’s position can
be adjusted to enable sufficient
confirmation of the rear view.

for a more safe trailer hookup, the trailer
ball setup must be the proper height for the
coupler on the trailer.

■Before towing
Check that the following conditions are
met:
●Ensure that your vehicle’s tires are prop-
erly inflated. ( P.458)
●Trailer tires are inflated according to the
trailer manufacturer’s recommendation.
●All trailer lights work as required by law.
●All lights work each time you connect
them.
●The trailer ball is set at the proper height
for the coupler on the trailer.
●The trailer is level when it is hitched.
Do not drive if the trailer is not level, and
check for improper tongue weight, over-
loading, worn suspension, or other possi-
ble causes.
●The trailer cargo is securely loaded.
●The rear view mirrors conform to all
applicable federal, state/provincial or local regulations. If
they do not, install
rear view mirrors appropriate for towing
purposes.
■Adaptive Variable Suspension System
(if equipped)
The suspension can be switched for
improvement in driveability. ( P.279)
■Break-in schedule
If your vehicle is new or equipped with any
new power train components (such as an
engine, hybrid transmission, rear differential
or wheel bearing), Le xus recommends that
you do not tow a trailer until the vehicle has
been driven for over 500 miles (800 km).
After the vehicle has been driven for over
500 miles (800 km), you can start towing.
However, for the next 500 miles (800 km),
drive the vehicle at a speed of less than 50
mph (80 km/h) when towing a trailer, and
avoid full throttle acceleration.
■Maintenance
●If you tow a trailer, your vehicle will
require more frequent maintenance due
to the additional load. (See “Warranty
and Services Guide”, “Owner’s Manual
Supplement” or “Scheduled Mainte-
nance”.)
●Retighten the fixing bolts of the towing
ball and bracket after approximately 600
miles (1000 km) of trailer towing.
■If trailer sway occurs
One or more factors (crosswinds, passing
vehicles, rough roads, etc.) can adversely
affect handling of your vehicle and trailer,
causing instability.
●If trailer swaying occurs:
• Firmly grip the steering wheel. Steer straight ahead.
Do not try to control trailer swaying by
turning the steering wheel.
• Begin releasing th e accelerator pedal
immediately but very gradually to reduce
speed.
Do not increase speed. Do not apply
vehicle brakes.
If you make no extreme correction with the
steering or brakes, your vehicle and trailer
should stabilize. (if enabled, Trailer Sway
Control can also help to stabilize the vehicle
