Note:When installing the rear edge of therear quarter window into the slot, you canunlatch the soft top for easier installation.See Opening and Closing the Soft Top(page 354).
7.After installing the rear quarterwindows, press along the top of thewindow to secure the hook and loopfastener strips.
Note:The buckles snap together andwindows are flush when correctly installed.If the parts have visible gaps or stick outthey are not correctly secured.
REMOVING AND INSTALLING THEREAR WINDOW - VEHICLES WITH:SOFT TOP
1.If not already removed, remove the rearquarter windows. See Removing andInstalling the Rear QuarterWindows (page 338).
2.Release the hook and loop fastenerstrip along the top of the rear windowand flip the fabric upward.
3.Pull both bottom corners of thebacklight rearward to disengage theclips.

15.Insert the door harness into theconnector.
16.Open and close the installed door afew times to make sure you alignedit properly and that it operatesnormally.
17.To install additional doors, repeatSteps 3 – 16.
18.Close the doors and switch theignition on. Check for any warningmessages.
19.Return the mirrors to the drivingposition.
REMOVING AND INSTALLING THEDOORS - VEHICLES WITH: TUBEDOORS (If Equipped)
WARNING: Tube doors are foroff-road use only. Tube doors are notdesigned like factory doors. Occupantprotection, door system performance,and safety system performance,including safety canopy and front seatmounted side airbags, may be affectedduring a crash or rollover.
WARNING: Always keep hands,feet and other body parts inside thevehicle at all times.
Installing the Doors
1.If not already removed, remove thefactory doors. See Removing andInstalling the Doors (page 342).
Note:When you remove the doors, the rearseat occupant alert no longer functions.
2.Switch your vehicle off.
3.Fold the mirrors completely toward thefront of your vehicle before installingthe front doors.
4.Inspect and clean debris from thebodyside and door hinges.

5.Repeat the steps to remove thepassenger side panel front roof panel.
6.Store the front roof panels in thestorage bag. See Storing the RoofPanels (page 366). See Storing theDoors and the Roof Panels (page360).
7.To install, reverse the removalprocedure.
REMOVING AND INSTALLING THECENTER ROOF PANEL - 4-DOOR
Remove both of the front roof panelsbefore removing the center roof panel.
1.Turn the three L-shaped latches on thecenter roof panel, unlocking them fromthe rear roof panel.
2.Unlatch the driver side and passengerside latches of the center roof panel.
3.Remove the center roof panel.
4.To install, reverse the removalprocedure.
REMOVING AND INSTALLING THEREAR ROOF PANEL - 2-DOOR
Remove the front panels before removingthe rear roof panel.
1.Open the rear doors.
2.Open the tailgate window. SeeOpening and Closing the Windows(page 103).
3.Locate the wire harness and washerhose on the driver side rear insidecorner of the vehicle.
4.Release the locking tab by pushing itdown.
5.Push the tab inward when pulling downto disconnect and remove the wiringharness.
6.Push the release button on the hoseconnector and pull down to removethe washer hose.

7.Secure the wiring harness to the bodyside by plugging it into the receptacleand pushing up on the locking tab.
8.Secure the washer hose by snapping itinto the top of the body sidereceptacle.
9.Remove the four fasteners on each sideof your vehicle that secure the rear roofpanel to the vehicle using the providedhead driver and ratchet.
10.With the tailgate window open, grabthe opening with one hand andslightly lift with the other hand. Liftthe rear roof panel straight up andoff. Place the rear roof panel on a softsurface to prevent damage.
Note:Store the rear roof panel with thetailgate window open to prevent damageto the glass seal.
11.To install, reverse the removalprocedure. Torque the fasteners thatsecure the rear roof panel to yourvehicle to 15 ± 2 lb.ft (20 ± 3 Nm).
Note:Make sure the locating pins on therear roof panel sit flush in your vehicle wheninstalled.
Note:Do not overtighten the fasteners. Youcan strip the fasteners if they areovertightened.
REMOVING AND INSTALLING THEREAR ROOF PANEL - 4-DOOR
Remove the front panels and center panelbefore removing the rear roof panel.
1.Open the rear doors.

Make sure to remove the soft top trimpieces before installing the hard top.

2.Push the soft top up and rearward.
3.Attach the provided straps if you areoff-road driving or driving on roughroads.
Note:Do not drive without the soft topproperly latched or fully opened.
Note:Do not store your vehicle in coldweather with the soft top open.
Note:Satellite radio reception performancecould be reduced when the soft top roof isin the partially open position. See SatelliteRadio Limitations (page 426).
Fully Opening the Soft Top
1.Remove the rear quarter windows andthe rear window. See RemovableWindows (page 338).
Note:Do not drive unless all rear windowsare removed or installed.
2.Open the soft top to the partially openposition.
3.Press down the handle on the driverside of your vehicle to unlatch the softtop. Lift and rotate the soft toprearward, making sure to keep yourhands and fingers free of themechanism.
4.Make sure the soft top fabric foldsproperly and is not touching themechanism when folding.

2.Use the side rail to lift and rotate thesoft top forward, making sure it latchesin place.
Note:Do not lift using the top rail only.
3.Make sure both sides fully latch.
4.Latch the two latches at the header.

Accessing the Rear Cargo Area
1.Open the tailgate.
2.Unlatch the soft top.
3.Lift the rear of the soft top and supportit with the soft top strut.

STORING THE DOORS AND
THE ROOF PANELS - 4-DOOR
(IF EQUIPPED)
WARNING: Do not store removeddoors or roof panels in vehicle withoutusing the Ford onboard storage kit, andverifying they have been secured perinstructions. Failure to follow thisinstruction could result in personal injuryor death.
Note:Cargo can shift under severe vehicleuse, to reduce the risk of damage, avoid highspeed or extreme rock crawl off-roadsituations when storing the doors in thecargo area.
Note:Inspect the bags and harnessperiodically to make sure they are notdamaged. Inspect the door retentionharness straps to make sure there are nonicks, tears or cuts. Replace if necessary.
Note:Clean the roof panels and doors priorto storing them in the bags as dirt maydamage the finish.
Storing the Front Roof Panels
1.Remove the front roof panels. SeeRemoving and Installing the FrontRoof Panel (page 350).
2.Open the bag and pull out the divider.Place the first panel into the bag.Replace the divider before placing thesecond panel into the bag.
3.Zip the bag closed.
4.Gently slide the roof panel bag into thecargo area.
Securing the Front Roof PanelsVertically
1.Raise the bag to the vertical position.
