3Press / (vertical display)
or / (horizontal display)
to select “Vehicle Settings” and
then press .
4Press / to select “TPWS
setting” and then press .
5Press / to select “Identi-
fying Each Wheel & Position”.
Then press and hold until
the tire pressure warning light
blinks slowly 3 times. Afterward,
turns on after flashing for 1 min-
ute.
After 2 minutes, registration of a second
wheel set is being performed. The tire
pressure warning light will turn off and
“--” will be displayed for the inflation
pressure of each tire on the multi-infor-
mation display.
6Initialize the tire pressure warn-
ing system. (→P.334)
If the tire inflation pressure settings for
the installed tire changes, initialization
operations are required, but if the same
tire inflation pressure, initialization is
not required.
7Drive straight (with occasional
left and right turns) at approxi-
mately 40 km/h (25 mph) or
more for approximately 10 to 30
minutes.
Registration of a second wheel set is
complete when the tire pressure warn-
ing light turns off and the inflation pres-
sure of each tire is displayed on the
multi-information display.

zWhen rotating, repairing or
changing your tires, check that
the wheel nuts are still tight after
driving 1600 km (1000 miles).
zBe careful not to damage the
aluminum wheels when using
tire chains.
zUse only Toyota genuine balance
weights or equivalent and a plas-
tic or rubber hammer when bal-
ancing your wheels.1Turn the engine switch off.
2Open the glove box. Slide off
the damper.
3Push in the glove box on the
vehicle’s outer side to discon-
nect the 2 claws. Then pull out
the glove box and disconnect
the lower claws.Air conditioning filter

5 Securely attach cables or chains
to the towing eyelet.
Take care not to damage the vehicle body.
6 Enter the vehicle being towed
and start the engine.
If the engine does not start, turn the engine switch to ON.
7 Shift the shift lever to N and
release the parking brake.

If the engine is not running, the power
assist for the brakes and steering will not function, making steering and brak-ing more difficult.

(Water dripping from the air con-

z Engine coolant temperature

higher than normal.

z Excessive tire squeal when cor-
nering
z Strange noises related to the
suspension system
z Pinging or other noises related to
the engine
z Engine missing, stumbling or
running roughly
z Appreciable loss of power

If you notice any of the follow-
ing symptoms, your vehicle
probably needs adjustment or
repair. Contact any authorized
Toyota retailer or Toyota autho-
rized repairer, or any reliable
repairer as soon as possible.

WARNING
■When the electric power steer- ing system warning light comes
on
When the light comes on yellow, the assist to the power steering is
restricted. When the light comes on red, the assist to the power steering is lost and handling operations of the
steering wheel become extremely heavy.When steering wheel operations are
heavier than usual, grip the steering wheel firmly and operate it using more force than usual.
■If the tire pressure warning light comes on
Be sure to observe the following pre- cautions.Failure to do so could cause a loss of
vehicle control and result in death or serious injury.
●Stop your vehicle in a safe place as soon as possible. Adjust the tire inflation pressure immediately.
●Vehicles with a compact spare tire and full-size spare tire: If the tire
pressure warning light comes on even after tire inflation pressure adjustment, it is probable that you
have a flat tire. Check the tires. If a tire is flat, change it with the spare tire and have the flat tire repaired
by the nearest any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
●Vehicles with emergency tire punc-ture repair kit: If the tire pressure
warning light comes on even after tire inflation pressure adjustment, it is probable that you have a flat tire.
Check the tires. If a tire is flat, repair the flat tire by using emergency tire puncture repair kit.
●Avoid abrupt maneuvering and braking.If the vehicle tires deteriorate, you
could lose control of the steering wheel or the brakes.
■If a blowout or sudden air leak-age should occur
The tire pressure warning system
may not activate immediately.
NOTICE
■To ensure the tire pressure warn- ing system operates properly
Do not install tires with different speci- fications or makers, as the tire pres-sure warning system may not operate
properly.
