A pressure level 50 kPa (0.5 kgf/cm2 or
bar, 7 psi) lower than the specified
value will cause a worsening of several
percentage points.
■When driving on highways,
use the EV/HV mode selection
switch to drive in HV mode
The power consumption will
increase significantly if the vehicle
is driven in EV mode on highways.
■Do not load unnecessary
objects in the vehicle
Driving with objects weighing 100
kg (220 lb.) in the vehicle will
worsen the electrical and fuel effi -
ciency by approximately 3%.
Air resistance also greatly affects
electrical and fuel efficiency.
Remove any exterior accessories
such as a roof luggage carrier when
they are not being used.
The running resistance of snow
tires is high and they will worsen
electrical and fuel efficiency.
Replace them with standard tires
as soon as they are no longer
needed.

electrical and fuel efficiency, you

Driving
• When strong winds are blowing

dirt, etc. (when cleared, the system

will resolve this problem.)
●Vehicle surroundings
• When an object that cannot be
detected is between the vehicle and a detected object
• If an object such as a vehicle, motor-
cycle, bicycle or pedestrian cuts in front of the vehicl e or runs out from
the side of the vehicle
• The vehicle is approaching a tall or curved curb.
• On an extremely bumpy road, on an
incline, on gravel, or on grass. • The objects draw too close to the sen -
sor.
●Other sonic waves sources
• When vehicle horns , vehicle detec-
tors, motorcycle engines, air brakes of large vehicles, the clearance sonar of
other vehicles or other devices which
produce ultrasonic waves are near the
vehicle • If a sticker or an electronic compo -

Driving
Vehicles with 225/60R18 tires
Use the correct tire chain size when
mounting the tire chains. Chain size
is regulated for each tire size.
Side chain:
3 mm (0.12 in.) in diameter
10 mm (0.39 in.) in width
30 mm (1.18 in.) in length
Cross chain:
4 mm (0.16 in.) in diameter
14 mm (0.55 in.) in width
25 mm (0.98 in.) in length
Vehicles with 235/55R19 tires
Tire chains cannot be mounted.
Snow tires should be used instead.
Regulations regarding the use of
tire chains vary depending on loca -
tion and type of road. Always check
local regulations before installing
chains.
■Tire chain installation
Observe the following precautions when installing and removing chains:
●Install and remove tire chains in a safe location.
●Install tire chains on the front tires only. Do not install t ire chains on the
rear tires.
●Install tire chains on front tires as
tightly as possible. Retighten chains
after driving 0.5 - 1.0 km (1/4 - 1/2 mile).
●Install tire chains following the instruc - tions provided with the tire chains.
■Consumption of fuel and electricity
In cold temperatures, resistance of the
parts of a vehicle (tr ansmission, tires, etc.) generally incr eases, resulting in
increase of energy consumption. As a
result, fuel economy is likely to decrease.
Consumption of fuel and electricity of
this vehicle is als o likely to become worse in cold temperatures.

every 5000 km (3000 miles).
Do not fail to initial ize the tire pressure
warning system after tire rotation.
Front
■When rotating the tires
Make sure that the power switch is OFF. If the tires are rotated while the power
switch is in ON, the tire position informa -
tion will not be updated.
If this accidentally occurs, either turn the
power switch to OFF and then to ON, or
initialize the system after checking that
the tire pressure is properly adjusted.
Your vehicle is equi pped with a tire
pressure warning system that uses
tire pressure warning valves and
transmitters to detect low tire infla -
tion pressure before serious prob -
lems arise.
The tire pressure warning system
of this vehicle adopts a 2-type
warning system
 When “Adjust Pressure” is dis-
played (Normal Warning)
The tire pressure warning light comes
on and a buzzer sounds when the tire
inflation pressure becomes low due to
natural air leakage or outside tempera-
ture. (Ways of coping: →P.575, 624)
When “Immediately Check tire
when Safe” is displayed (Emer -
gency Warning)
The tire pressure warning light comes
on and a buzzer sounds when the tire
inflation pressure becomes low sud -
denly due to a blowout. (Ways of cop -
ing: →P.575, 582, 593)
However, the system may not be able
to detect sudden tire ruptures (bursting,
etc.).
The tire pressure detected by the
tire pressure warning system can
be displayed on the multi-informa -
tion display.
The unit can be changed.
■How to change the unit
1 Park the vehicle in a safe place
and turn the power switch off.
Changing the unit cannot be performed while the vehicle is moving.
2 Turn the power switch to ON.

should be placed so that the vehicle is
balanced.
When replacing wheels, care
should be taken to ensure that they
are equivalent to those removed in
load capacity, dia meter, rim width
and inset*.
Replacement wheels are available
at any authorized Toyota retailer or
Toyota authorized repairer, or any
reliable repairer.
*: Conventionally referred to as offset.
Toyota does not recommend using
the following:
 Wheels of different sizes or types
 Used wheels
 Bent wheels that have been
straightened
■When replacing wheels
The wheels of your vehicle are equipped with tire pressure warning valves and
transmitters that allo w the tire pressure
warning system to provide advance warning in the event of a loss in tire
inflation pressure. Whenever wheels are
replaced, tire pressure warning valves and transmitters must be installed.

WARNING
■Proper inflation is critical to save
tire performance
Keep your tires properly inflated. If the tires are not properly inflated,
the following conditions may occur
which could lead to an accident
resulting in death or serious injury:
●Excessive wear
●Uneven wear
●Poor handling
●Possibility of blowouts resulting
from overheated tires
●Air leaking from between tire and
wheel
●Wheel deformation and/or tire dam -
age
●Greater possibility of tire damage
while driving (due to road hazards,
expansion joints, sharp edges in the road, etc.)
NOTICE
■When inspecting and adjusting
tire inflation pressure
Be sure to put the tire valve caps back
on.
If a valve cap is not installed, dirt or moisture may get into the valve and
cause an air leak, resulting in
decreased tire inflation pressure.
Wheels
If a wheel is bent, cracked or
heavily corroded, it should be
replaced. Otherwise, the tire
may separate from the wheel
or cause a loss of handling
control.
