cap with the arrow upward and
turn it slowly to close.
When turning the fuel tank cap,
do not hold and turn the key.

Q When replacing the fuel tank cap
Do not use anything but a genuine Toyota fuel tank cap designed for your
vehicle. Doing so may cause a fire or other incident which may result in
death or serious injury.

QUsing automatic mode
Fan speed is adjusted automatically according to the temperature setting and
the ambient conditions.
Therefore, the fan may stop for a while until warm or cool air is ready to flow
immediately after is pressed.
Q Fogging up of the windows
O The windows will easily fog up when the humidity in the vehicle is high.
Turning on will dehumidify the air from the outlets and defog the wind-
shield effectively.
O If you turn off, the windows may fog up more easily.
O The windows may fog up if the recirculated air mode is used.
Q When driving on dusty roads
Close all windows. If dust thrown up by the vehicle is still drawn into the vehi-
cle after closing the windows, it is recommended that the air intake mode be
set to outside air mode and the fan speed to any setting except off.
Q Outside/recirculated air mode
O Setting to the recirculated air mode temporarily is recommended in prevent-
ing dirty air from entering the vehicle interior and helping to cool the vehicle
when the outside air temperature is high.
O Outside/recirculated air mode may automatically switch depending on the
temperature setting or the inside temperature.
Q Operation of the air conditioning system in Eco drive mode (if equipped)
O In Eco drive mode, the air conditioning system is controlled as follows to pri-
oritize fuel efficiency:
• Engine speed and compressor operation controlled to restrict heating/
cooling capacity
• Fan speed restricted when automatic mode is selected
O To improve air conditioning performance, perform the following operations.
• Adjust the fan speed
• Turn off Eco drive mode
• Adjust the temperature setting
Q When the outside temperature falls to nearly 0°C (32°F)
The dehumidification function may not operate even when is pressed.

the engine oil. Warm up and turn off the engine, wait more than 5 minutes,
and check the oil level on the dipstick.
QEngine oil selection
“Toyota Genuine Motor Oil” is used in your Toyota vehicle. Use
Toyota approved “Toyota Genuine Motor Oil” or equivalent to satisfy
the following grade and viscosity.
Oil grade:
0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30:
API grade SL “Energy-Conserving”, SM “Energy-Conserving”, SN
“Resource-Conserving”, SN PLUS “Resource-Conserving” or SP
“Resource-Conserving”; or ILSAC GF-6A multigrade engine oil

Oil viscosity (0W-20 is explained here as an example):
• The 0W in 0W-20 indicates the characteristic of the oil which
allows cold startability. Oils with a lower value before the W allow
for easier starting of the engine in cold weather.
• The 20 in 0W-20 indicates the viscosity characteristic of the oil
when the oil is at high temperature. An oil with a higher viscosity
(one with a higher value) may be better suited if the vehicle is
operated at high speeds, or under extreme load conditions.
How to read oil container labels:
Either or both API registered marks are added to some oil contain-
ers to help you select the oil you should use.
API Service Symbol
Top portion: “API SERVICE SP”
means the oil quality designa-
tion by American Petroleum Ins-
titute (API).
Center portion: “SAE 0W-20”
