The initialization operation
●Make sure to carry out initializ
ation after adjusting the tire inflation pres-
sure.
Also, make sure the tires are co ld before carrying out initialization or tire
inflation pressure adjustment.
●If you have accidentally turned the engine switch to the “LOCK” position
(vehicles without a smart key system) or off (vehicles with a s mart key
system) during initialization, it is not necessary to press the reset switch
again as initialization will rest art automatically when the engine switch
has been turned to the “ON” posi tion (vehicles without a smart key sys-
tem) or IGNITION ON mode (vehicl es with a smart key system) for the
next time.
●If you accidentally press the reset switch when initialization is not neces-
sary, adjust the tire inflation pressure to the specified level when the
tires are cold, and cond uct initialization again.
●While the position of each tire is being determined and the inf lation pres-
sures are not being displayed on the multi-information display, if the
inflation pressure of a tire drops, the tire pressure warning l ight will come
on.
■When initialization of the tire pressure warning system has fai led
●Do not move the vehicle backward during initialization. Initialization is
started again from the beginning and it may take longer than usual.
●Initialization may take longer to complete if the vehicle is driven on an
unpaved road.
When performing initialization, drive on a paved road if possib le.
Depending on the driving environment and condition of the tires , initial-
ization will be complet ed in approximately 10 to 30 minutes.
• If initialization is not complet e after driving approximately 30 minutes,
continue driving for a while.
• If initialization is not complet e after driving approximately 1 hour, park
the vehicle in a safe place for approximately 20 minutes. Then drive
straight (with occasional left a nd right turns) at approximatel y 25 mph
(40 km/h) or more
* for approximately 10 to 30 minutes.
• If initialization is still not co mplete, have the vehicle inspected by your
Toyota dealer.
*: Except when making a left/right turn
●In the following situations, the tire inflation pressure will n ot be recorded
and the system will not operate p roperly. Perform initialization again.
• When operating the tire pressure warning reset switch, the tir e pres-
sure warning light does not blink 3 times.
• After performing initialization, the tire pressure warning light blinks for
1 minute then stays on after driving for about 20 minutes.

Low fuel level warning lightIndicates remaining fuel is approximately 3.5 gal. (13.1
L, 2.9 Imp. gal.) or less
 Refuel the vehicle.
Seat belt reminder light (warning buzzer)*3
Warns the driver and/or front passenger to fasten their
seat belts
 Fasten the seat belt.
If the front passenger’s s eat is occupied, the front
passenger’s seat belt also needs to be fastened to
make the warning light (wa rning buzzer) turn off.
Brake Override System/Drive- Start Control warning
light (warning buzzer)

When a buzzer sounds:
• Brake Override System is malfunctioning;
• Drive-Start Control is operating;
• Drive-Start Control is malfunctioning; or
 Follow the instructions displayed on the multi-
information display.
When a buzzer does not sound:
Brake Override System is operating
 Release the accelerator pedal and depress the
brake pedal.

PCS warning light
When a buzzer sounds simultaneously:
Indicates a malfunction has occurred in the PCS (Pre-
Collision System).
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer
immediately.
When a buzzer does not sound:
The PCS (Pre-Collision System) has become tempo-
rarily unavailable, corrective action may be necessary.
 Follow the instructions displayed on the multi-
information display. ( P. 251, 484)
If the PCS (Pre-Collision System) or VSC (Vehicle Sta-
bility Control) system is disabled, the PCS warning
light will illuminate.

LDA indicator*4
Indicates a malfunction in the LDA
 When “LDA Unavailable” is displayed on the
multi-information display, turn the LDA system
off, wait for a little while, and then turn the LDA
system back on. ( P. 267)
When a message other than above is displayed,
follow the instructions displayed in the message.
Master warning light
A buzzer sounds and warning light comes on flashes
to indicate that the master warning system has
detected a malfunction.

Tire pressure warning light
When the light comes on:
Low tire inflation pressure such as
• Natural causes ( P. 4 8 0 )
• Flat tire ( P. 489)
 Adjust the tire inflation pressure (including the
spare tire) to the specified level.
The light will turn off after a few minutes. In
case the light does not turn off even if the tire
inflation pressure is adjusted, have the system
checked by your Toyota dealer.
When the light comes on after blinking for 1 minute:
Malfunction in the tire p ressure warning system

*1: Parking brake engaged warning buzzer:A buzzer will sound if the vehicle is driven at a speed of appr oximately 3
mph (5 km/h) or more.
*2: Open door warning buzzer: The open door warning buzzer sounds to alert one or more of the doors is
not fully closed (with the vehicle having reached a speed of 3 mph [5 km/h]).
*3: Driver’s seat belt buzzer:
The driver's seat belt warning buzzer sounds to alert the drive r that his or
her seat belt is not fastened. Once the engine switch is turned to ON, the
buzzer sounds. If the seat belt is still unfastened, the buzzer sounds inter-
mittently for a certain period of time after the vehicle reache s a certain
speed.
Front passenger’s seat belt warning buzzer:
The front passenger’s seat belt warning buzzer sounds to alert the front
passenger that his or her seat belt is not fastened. If the sea t belt is unfas-
tened, the buzzer sounds intermittently for a certain period of time after the
vehicle reaches a certain speed.

■ SRS warning light
This warning light system monitors the airbag sensor assembly, front impact
sensors, side impact sensors (front door), side impact sensors (rear), safing
sensor (rear), driver's seat belt buckle switch, front passenger occupant clas-
sification system (ECU and sensors), “AIR BAG ON” and “AIR BAG OFF”
indicator lights, front passenger's seat belt buckle switch, se at belt preten-
sioners, airbags, interconnecting wiring and power sources. (P. 3 5 )
■ Key reminder buzzer (vehicles without a smart key system)
The buzzer indicates that the key has not been removed with the engine off
and the driver’s door opened.
■ Open moon roof reminder buzzer (if equipped)
The buzzer indicates that the moon roof is not fully closed with the engine off
and the driver’s door opened.
■ Front passenger detection senso r, passenger seat belt reminder and
warning buzzer
● If luggage is placed on the front passenger seat, the front pas senger detec-
tion sensor may cause the warning light to flash and the warnin g buzzer to
sound even if a passenger is not sitting in the seat.
● If a cushion is placed on the seat, the sensor may not detect a passenger,
and the warning light may not operate properly.

If any of the warning messages are shown again after the following
actions have been performed, contact your Toyota dealer.
If a warning message is displayed
The multi-information display shows warnings of system mal-
functions, incorrectly performed operations, and messages that
indicate a need for maintena nce. When a message is shown,
perform the correction procedur e appropriate to the message.

The warning lights and warning buzzers operate as follows depending
on the content of the message. If a message indicates the need for
inspection by a dealer, have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota
dealer immediately.
The operation of the warning lights and warning buzzers may dif fer
from those stated. in this case, perform the correction procedu re
according to the displayed message.
*: A buzzer sounds the first time a message is shown on the multi -informa-

■Warning messages
The warning messages explained below may differ from the actual messages
according to operation conditions and vehicle specifications.
■ System warning lights
The master warning light does not come on or flash in the following cases.
Instead, a separate system warning light will come on along wit h a message
or image shown on the multi-information display.
● Malfunction in the ABS
The ABS warning light comes on. ( P. 475)
● Indicates that the PCS (Pre-Collision System) is not currently functional
The PCS warning light comes on or flashes. ( P. 478)
● Malfunction in the tire pressure warning system
The tire pressure warning light comes on. ( P. 478)
■ If a message instructing to refer to the Owner’s Manual is disp layed
● If the following message is shown, there may be a malfunction.
Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact your T oyota dealer.
Continuing to drive the vehicle may be dangerous.
• “Braking Power Low Stop in a Safe Place See Owner’s Manual”
• “Oil Pressure Low Stop in a Safe Place See Owner’s Manual”
● If “Engine Coolant Temp High Stop in a Safe Place See Owner’s M anual” is
displayed, follow the instructions accordingly. ( P. 514)
● If “Front Camera Unavailable See Owner’s Manual” is displayed, follow the
instructions accordingly. ( P. 251, 484)
● If the following message is shown, there may be a malfunction.
Immediately have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer.
• “Smart Key System Malfunction See Owner’s Manual”
■ If “High transmission fluid temperature” is shown, it indicates that the
automatic transmission fluid temperature is too high.
Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place, shift the shift l ever to P and wait
until the warning message and light go off. If the warning message and light
go off, you may start the vehicle again. If the warning message and light do
not go off, contact your Toyota dealer.
