6Cruise control - Specific
recommendations
The cruise control function does not guarantee compliance with the maximum
authorised speed and the safety distance
between vehicles, the driver remains
responsible for their driving.
In the interest of public safety, only use cruise
control if the traffic conditions enable vehicles
to drive at a steady speed and maintain an
adequate safety distance.
Remain vigilant while cruise control is
activated. If you press and hold one of the
speed setting modification buttons, your
vehicle may change speed very abruptly.
When descending a steep hill , the cruise
control system cannot prevent the vehicle
from exceeding the set speed. Brake if
necessary to control the vehicle speed.
On steep climbs or when towing, the set
speed may not be reached or maintained.
Exceeding the programmed speed
setting
You can temporarily exceed the speed
setting by pressing the accelerator pedal (the
programmed speed flashes).
To return to the speed setting, release the
accelerator pedal (when the set speed is
reached again, the displayed speed stops
flashing).
Operating limits
Never use the system in the following
situations:
–

In an urban area with the risk of
pedestrians crossing the road.
–


In heavy traffic.
–


On winding or steep roads.
–


On slippery or flooded roads.
–


In poor weather conditions.
–


In the event of restricted visibility for the
driver

–

Driving on a speed circuit.
–


Driving on a rolling road.
–


When using a ‘space-saver
’ type spare
wheel.
–

When using snow chains, non-slip covers
or studded tyres.
Cruise control

System which automatically maintains the
speed of the vehicle at the cruise setting
programmed by the driver, without using the
accelerator pedal. To be programmed or activated, the speed of the
vehicle must be above 19 mph (30 km/h), with at
least 2
nd gear engaged.

Selecting the function
► Turn ring 1 all the way up. The cruise control
function is selected, but is not yet active and no
speed is programmed.
The indicator lamp lights up on the instrument panel.

Practical information
Installation tips
► To fit the snow chains during a journey, stop
the vehicle on a flat surface at the side of the
road.
►
Apply the parking brake and position any
wheel chocks under the wheels to prevent
movement of the vehicle.
►


Fit the snow chains following the instructions
provided by the manufacturer

Move off gently and drive for a few moments,
without exceeding 31

mph (50 km/h).
►

Stop the vehicle and check that the snow
chains are correctly tightened.
It is strongly recommended that you
practise fitting the snow chains on a level
and dry surface before setting off.
Avoid driving with snow chains on roads that have been cleared of snow to avoid
damaging the vehicle's tyres and the road
surface. If the vehicle is fitted with alloy
wheels, check that no part of the chain or its
fixings is in contact with the wheel rim.
Towing a trailer

The type-approved towable weights are entered
in your vehicle's registration certificate, as well
as on the manufacturer's plate.
For more information on the Technical
characteristics of the vehicle and
particularly on weights and towable loads,
refer to the corresponding section.
You will then have information on your vehicle's
ability to tow a trailer, a caravan, a boat, etc.
These values are also given in the sales
brochures.
We recommend using genuine
PEUGEOT towbars and their harnesses
that have been tested and approved from the
design stage of your vehicle, and having a
PEUGEOT dealer fit the towbar.
These genuine towbars are compatible with
the operation of the rear parking sensors and
the reversing camera, if your vehicle is so
equipped.
If the towbar is not fitted by a PEUGEOT
dealer, it must still be fitted in accordance with
the vehicle manufacturer's instructions.
Electric motor
An electric vehicle cannot under any
circumstances be fitted with a towing device.
It is therefore not possible to tow a trailer or
caravan.
Towbar with quickly detachable towball
Presentation
This genuine towball can be easily and quickly
fitted or removed. These operations do not
require any tools.

Practical information
Fitting the towball

► Below the rear bumper, remove the protective
plug from the carrier.
►

Insert the end of towball
4 into carrier 1 and
push it upwards; the locking will take place
automatically.
The wheel 5 turns a quarter of a turn anti-
clockwise; take care to keep your hands clear.


► Check that the mechanism has correctly
locked into place (position A ).
►

Close lock 6

Clip the cap onto the lock.

Attach the trailer to the towball.

Refit the protective cover to the towball.

Remove the cap from the lock and press it
onto the head of the key

Insert the key into lock

the other hand, pull and turn wheel 5 fully in a
clockwise direction; do not release the wheel.

Extract the towball from the bottom of its
carrier

Refit the protective plug to the carrier .

Carefully stow the towball in its bag away
from knocks and dirt.
Maintenance
Correct operation is only possible if the towball
and its carrier are kept clean.
Before cleaning the vehicle with a high-pressure
jet wash, the towball must be removed and the
protective plug fitted to the carrier.
Affix the enclosed label in a clearly visible
location, close to the carrier or in the boot.
Work on the towing device
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a
qualified workshop.

They are stored in a box under the front
passenger seat.


► Turn the button a quarter turn, then pull the
tool box.

After use, press the button, then turn a
quarter turn to lock the tool box.

wheel from its housing
To facilitate this, lift the rear of the
vehicle.
The spare wheel is specific to your vehicle, do not use it on vehicles of
different models.
Also, do not use spare wheels of a different
model to your vehicle.

Connect only to the terminals indicated
and illustrated above. In case of
non-compliance, risk of short circuit!
With a Diesel engine
► Connect the red cable to metallic terminal A,
then to the (+) terminal of backup battery B.

Connect one end of the green or black cable
to the negative (-) terminal of backup battery B

►

Connect the other end of the green or black
cable to earth point C

of your vehicle.

Operate the starter
, let the engine run.
►

ait for the engine to return to idle and
disconnect the cables.
With electric motor
► Connect the red cable to metallic terminal A,
then to the (+) terminal of backup battery B.

Connect one end of the green or black cable

Start the electric motor

► Disconnect the green or black cable from

Charging the battery using a
battery charger
► Access the battery , located in the left-hand
front floor.
►

Disconnect the battery

Follow the instructions for use provided by
the manufacturer of the charger

Reconnect starting with the (-) terminal.
►


Check the cleanliness of the terminals. If they
are covered with sulphate (whitish or greenish
deposit), remove and clean them.
The charging operation must be carried out in a well-ventilated area and away
from naked flames and any sources of sparks
so as to avoid the risk of explosion or fire.
Do not try to recharge a frozen battery: it
must first be thawed to avoid the risk of
explosion. If it has frozen, before charging it,
have the battery checked by a specialist who
will check that the interior components have
not been damaged and that the container is
not cracked, which would involve a risk of
leakage of toxic and corrosive acid.
Perform a slow charge at low amperage for
about 24 hours maximum to avoid damaging
the battery.
The presence of this label, in particular with the Stop & Start system, indicates
the use of a 12 V lead-acid battery with
special technology and specification; the
involvement of a PEUGEOT dealer or a
qualified workshop is essential when
replacing or disconnecting the battery.
After refitting the battery at a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop, the Stop
& Start system will only be active after a
continuous period of immobilisation of the
vehicle, a period which depends on the
climatic conditions and the state of charge of
the battery (up to about 8 hours).

Observe the legislation in force in the
country where you are driving.

In the event of a breakdown
8Ensure that the weight of the towing vehicle is
higher than that of the towed vehicle.
The driver must remain at the wheel of the
towed vehicle and must have a valid driving
licence.
When towing a vehicle with all four wheels on
the ground, always use an approved towing
arm; rope and straps are prohibited.
The towing vehicle must move off gently.
When the vehicle is towed with its engine
off, there is no longer braking and steering
assistance.A professional towing service must be
called if:
–

Broken down on a motorway or main road.
–


Not possible to put
the gearbox into neutral,
unlock the steering, or release the parking
brake.
–

Not possible to tow a vehicle with an
automatic gearbox, with the engine running.
–

Four-wheel drive vehicle.

No approved towbar available.
Before towing the vehicle, it is essential
to put the vehicle in free-wheeling mode.
Electric motor
An electric vehicle cannot under any
circumstances be used to tow another
vehicle.
However, it may be used, for example, to exit
a rut.

Towing your vehicle
The removable towing eye is located in the tool
box under the front passenger seat.
►
Unclip the cover using a flat tool.

► Screw the removable towing eye in fully .
► Attach the approved towbar to the removable
towing eye.
►

Place the gear lever in neutral.
Failure to adhere to this instruction may
lead to damage to braking system
components and the lack of braking
assistance on restarting the engine.
Towing another vehicle

The fixed towing eye is located under the
bumper, on the right-hand side.

Attach the approved towbar to the rigid eye.

Engines
The engine characteristics are given in the
vehicle's registration document, as well as in
sales brochures.
Only the values available at the time of
publication are presented in the tables.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified
workshop to obtain missing values.
The maximum power corresponds to the value type-approved on a test bed, under
conditions defined by European legislation
(Directive 1999/99/EC).

Weights and towed loads
The weights and towed loads relating to
the vehicle are indicated on the registration
document, as well as in sales brochures.
These values are also indicated on the
manufacturer's plate or label.

The GTW (Gross Train Weight) and towed load
values indicated are valid up to a maximum
altitude of 1,000 metres. The towed load value
must be reduced by 10% for each additional
1,000 metres of altitude.
The maximum authorised nose weight
corresponds to the weight permitted on the
towball.
When exterior temperatures are high, the
vehicle performance may be limited in
order to protect the engine. When the exterior
temperature is higher than 37°C, reduce the
towed weight.
Towing even with a lightly loaded vehicle can adversely affect its road holding.
Braking distances are increased when towing
a trailer.
When using a vehicle to tow, never exceed
a speed of 62 mph (100
km/h) (observe the
local legislation in force).
