Ac tive Lane Keeping Assist monitors the area in
front of your vehicle bymeans of the multifunction
camera (/ page 267) and can warnyou before
yo u lea veyour lane unintentionall y.The system
can guide you back into your lane thro ugh a
course-cor recting steering inter vention and addi-
tionally warnsyo u with vibration pulses in the
stee ring wheel. Active Lane Keeping Assist is
av ailable in the speed range between 60 km/h
and 200 km/h.
The system can inter vene in thefo llowing situa-
tions:
R Active Lane Keeping Assist de tects a lane
marking. R
One of your front wheels goes over a lane
marking.
If yo u activate the turn signal indicator, a steering
inter vention does not occur on the cor responding
side.
If th e system de tects an obs tacle, such as ano ther
ve hicle in the adjacent lane, a steering inter ven-
tion occurs rega rdless of the turn signal indicator.
If yo u lea vethe lane without activating the turn
signal indicator, but danger of a collision with a
moving obstacle is de tected in your lane, a steer-
ing inter vention does not occur. Display
1will appear in the driver's display and a
wa rning tone will sound in thefo llowing situations:
R A steering inter vention byActive Lane Keeping
Assist lasts longer than appr oximately ten sec-
onds.
R The system ca rries out two or more steering
inter ventions within appro ximatelythree
minutes without any steering inter vention from
th e driver.
In theAc tive Lane Keeping Assist settings, you
can set the sensitivity of the system and set the
le ve l of support. Additionall y,yo u can set whe ther
th e system should react todiscontinuous lane
markings or only continuous lane markings

suspension system with variable damping for
impr oved driving comfort. The all-round le vel con-
trol system ensures the best possible suspension
and constant ground clearance, even with a laden
ve hicle. When driving at speed, theve hicle is lo w-
ered automatically toimpr ovedriving saf ety and
to reduce fuel consum ption. The suspension set-
ting is adjusted depending on thero ad sur face,
ve hicle load and the drive prog ram selected.
The ROAD SURF ACE SCAN function de tects areas
of une venness in thero ad before you drive over th
em bymeans of a multifunction camera. This
re duces chassis mo vements.
The damping is adjus ted individually toeach
wheel and depends on thefo llowing factors:

The reve rsing camera monitors the area behind
yo ur vehicle. If you ha veactivated the function
(/ page 317), the image from there ve rsing cam-
era is automatically displa yed in the central dis-
play when reve rsege ar is engaged.
The reve rsing camera is only an aid. It is not a
substitute foryo ur attention tothe sur roundings.
The responsibility for safe manoeuvring and par k-
ing remains with you. Make sure that there are no
persons, animals or objects etc., in the manoeu-
vring area while manoeuvring and parking.
