is co vered, damaged or dirty, cer tain driving
and saf ety sy stems cannot function co rrectl y.

Keep the area around vehicle senso rsor
cameras clear of any obst ructions and
clean. #
Have damage tothe bumper, radiator
gr ille or stone chipping in the area of the
front and rear wind owsre paired at a
qu ali/ed specialist workshop. Pa
rticular ly,ke ep the areas around the sensors
and cameras free of dirt, ice or slush
(/ page 370). The sensors and cameras must
not be co vered and the de tection ranges around
th em must be kept free. Do not at tach additional
licence plate brac kets, advertisements, stic kers,
fo ils or foils toprotect against stone chippings in
th e de tection range of the sensors and cameras. Make sure
that there are no overhanging loads
pr otru ding into the de tection range.
If th ere is damage toa bumper or thera diator

If AT TENTION ASSIST is unable tocalculate the
attention le vel and cannot issue a warning, the
System suspended message appears.
If a warning is given in the Instrument Displa y,the
multimedia system o.ers tosear chfor a rest
area. You can select a rest area and start naviga-
tion tothis rest area. This function can be acti va-
te d and deactivated in the multimedia system.
If AT TENTION ASSIST is deactivated, theÛ
symbol appears in the assistance graphic in the
Instrument Displ ay. ATer theve hicle is star ted,
AT TENTION ASSIST is automatically activated. The
last selected sensitivity le velre mains stored.

200 km/h speed range. Pa

Cruise control may be unable tomaintain the
stored speed on uphill gradients. The stored
speed is resumed when thegr adient evens out.
Change into a lo werge ar in good time on long and
steep downhill gradients. Take particular no teof
th is when driving a laden vehicle. By doing so, you
will make use of the engine's braking e.ect. This
re lie vesth e load on the brake system and pre-
ve nts the brakes from overheating and wearing
to oqu ickl y.
Do not use cruise control in thefo llowing situa-
tions:
R in tra1c situations which requ ire frequent
ch anges of speed, e.g. in heavy tra1c, on
winding roads
R on slippery roads. Accelerating can cause the
drive wheels tolose traction and theve hicle
could then skid.
R when visibility is poor
