Open the Fuse box cover.

Push the tab in and lift the lid off.
Trunk
Remove the luggage mat.

NOTICE
■For normal operation after replacing
the battery
Observe the following precautions to
prevent accidents:
●Always work with dry hands.
Moisture may cause the battery to
rust.
●Do not touch or move any other com-
ponent inside the remote control.
●Do not bend either of the battery ter-
minals.

do not operate, a fuse may have
blown. If this happens, check and
replace the fuses as necessary.

Open the cover inside the trunk, take
out and pull the tab.
■When the electronic key does not work
properly
●Make sure that the smart access system
with push-button start has not been deac-
tivated using the Remote Touch or at
your Lexus dealer. If it is off, turn the func-
tion on.
●Check if battery-saving mode is set. If it is
set, cancel the function. (P.104)
Use the mechanical key ( P.94) in
order to perform th e following opera-
tions:
If the fuel filler door cannot

If the fuel filler door opener switch
cannot be operated, the following
procedure can be used to open the
fuel filler door.

Secure the tab in its original position.
If the electronic key does not

perate properly
If communication between the
electronic key and vehicle is inter-
rupted ( P.105) or the electronic
key cannot be used because the
battery is depleted, the smart
access system with push-button
start and wireless remote control
cannot be used. In such cases, the
doors and trunk can be opened and
the engine can be started by follow-
ing the procedure below.
NOTICE
■In case of a smart access system with
push-button start malfunction or
other key-related problems
Take your vehicle with all the electronic
keys (including the card key) provided
with your vehicle to your Lexus dealer as
soon as possible.

When trouble arises
■Locking and unlocking the door

Push in the depression on the front
edge of the driver’s door handle.

Insert the mechanical key while
pulling on the driver’s door handle.

Turn the key in order to perform
the following operations.
Locks both side doors
Closes the windows (turn and
hold)

Unlocks the door
Turning the key rearward unlocks the
driver’s door. Turning the key once again
within 5 seconds unlocks the other door.
Opens the windows (turn and
hold)

■Opening the trunk
Unlock the doors, and press the trunk
opener switch.

Depress the brake pedal.

Touch the Lexus emblem side of
the electronic key to the engine
switch.
When the electronic key is detected, a
buzzer sounds and the engine switch will
turn to ON.

WARNING
■When using the mechanical key and
operating the power windows
Operate the power window after check-
ing to make sure that there is no possibil-
ity of any passenger having any of their
body parts caught in the window.
Also, do not allow children to operate the
mechanical key. It is possible for children
and other passengers to get caught in
the power window.

check that is shown on the

4 Press the engine switch.
In the event that the engine still cannot
be started, contact your Lexus dealer.
■Stopping the engine
Set the parking brake, shift the shift position
to P and press the engine switch as you nor-
mally do when stopping the engine.
■Electronic key battery
As the above procedure is a temporary
measure, it is recomme nded that the elec-
tronic key battery be replaced immediately
when the battery is depleted. ( P.297)
■Alarm (For Canada)
Using the mechanical key to lock the doors
will not set the alarm system.
If a door is unlocked using the mechanical
key when the alarm system is set, the alarm
may be triggered.
■Changing engine switch modes
Release the brake pedal and press the
engine switch in step 3 above.
The engine does not start and modes will be
changed each time the switch is pressed.

Insert the mechanical key into the
cylinder and turn it clockwise to
open. The glove box can be opened by per-
forming the following operations after
unlocking the doors.
If the glove box is locked, unlock it with the
mechanical key. (
P.246)
1Remove the cover using a flathead
screwdriver.
To prevent damage to the cover, cover the
tip of the screwdriver with a rag.
2Push the flathead screwdriver into
the part shown in the illustration to
open the glove box.
■After opening the glove box
The glove box can be opened normally by
closing the glove box after restarting the
engine.
If you have a set of jumper (or booster)
cables and a second vehicle with a bat-

■After unlocking the trunk
Make sure to put back the cover to the
center of the rear seat. Failure to do so
may cause an accident.
NOTICE
■When installing the cover in the cen-
ter of the rear seat
Make sure that the seat belts are not
caught in the cover. Failure to do so may
cause damage to the cover installation

When touching a place where a
hand can not easily reach, wear
gloves to protect your hands.
Turn the engine switch off.
The tool for manually closing the
soft top roof is stored in the glove
box. ( P.246)

10Insert the tool into the hole .
11 Rotate the tool until it no longer
moves.
The front side of the soft top roof will be
locked.
Push the inner side of the soft top roof
to check that the soft top roof is firmly
locked and not raised.
If the soft top roof is not firmly locked, it
may be opened by wind pressure while
driving.
12While lifting the portion of the
under the rear window, hold the
portion of the luggage cover and move it to the front side of the
vehicle and close it.
When closing the luggage cover, be care-
ful that your hand or fi
ngers is not caught in
the luggage cover and vehicle.
