Under the Hood (P584)
●Check engine oil, engine coolant, and windshield washer
fluid. Add when necessary.
●Check brake fluid.●Check the 12-volt battery condition monthly.
aPull the hood release handle under the corner of the dashboard.
bLocate the hood latch lever, push it to the side, and then
raise the hood. Once you have raised the hood slightly, you
can release the lever.
cWhen finished, close the hood and make sure it is firmly
locked in place.

●Replace blades if they leave streaks
across the windshield or become noisy.

Driver Information Interface Warning and Information Messages
The following messages appear only on the driver information interface. Press the (display/information) button to see the mess age
again with the system message indicator on.

●Appears if any door or the tailgate is not completely
closed.
●Appears if any door or th e tailgate is opened while
driving. The beeper sounds.
●Disappears when all doors and the tailgate are
closed.
●Appears if there is a problem with the parking sensor

sensor indicator(s) comes on in red.
●Check if the area around the sensor(s) is covered with

●Appears when the vehicle is likely to drive out of a
detected lane.
The RDM system also steers the vehicle to help you
remain within your driving lane.—
●Blinks when you fail to steer the vehicle. The beeper
sounds simultaneously.●Operate the steering whee l to resume the LKAS.
●Appears when the LKAS is in operation, or the LKAS
button is pressed, but there is a problem with a system
related to the LKAS. The LKAS cancels automatically.
The beeper sounds simultan eously if selected by
customization.●If any other system indicato rs come on, such as the
VSA ®, ABS and brake system, take appropriate
action.

Opening/Closing the Power Tailgate*
The power tailgate can be operated by pr essing the power tailgate button on the
remote transmitter, pressing the power tailga te button in the driver’s side control
panel, pressing the button on the tailgate, or by raising and lowering your foot
under the center of the rear bumper for hands free access

1Opening/Closing the Power Tailgate*
NOTICE
Do not push or pull on the power tailgate when it is
being automatically opened or closed.
Forcibly opening or closing the power tailgate while
in operation can deform the tailgate frame.
When operating the power tailgate, make sure there is
enough space around your vehicle. People near the tailgate
may be seriously hurt if the tailgate hits or closes on their
heads. Be especially cautious if children are around.
The power tailgate may not open or close under the
following conditions:
•You activate the power system while the tailgate is
automatically openi ng or closing.
•The vehicle is parked on a steep hill.•The vehicle is swayed in a strong wind.•The tailgate or the roof is covered with snow or ice.
If you close the power tail gate when all the doors are
locked, the power tailgate locks automatically.
3WARNING
Opening or closing a power tailgate while
any part of a passenger is in the tailgate’s
operating path can cause serious injury.
Make sure all passengers or objects are
clear of the tailgate operating range
before opening or closing the tailgate.

If you manually close the power ta ilgate, it latches automatically.
Automatically lowers the power tailgate wh en there is a possibility that the fully
opened power tailgate can fall down by it s own weight (for example, by snow on
the tailgate). The beeper sounds while the power tailgate lowers.

1 Auto-Closer
The auto-closer feature does not activate if you press
the tailgate outer handle while the power tailgate is
closing.
NOTICE
Do not put any force on the tailgate while the power
tailgate is latching.
Keep your hands away from the tailgate when you
manually close the tailga te and let it latch
automatically. It is dange rous to put your hands
around the tailgate as it st arts to latch itself.
1Power Tailgate Fall Detection
If you try to manually close the power tailgate
immediately after it full y opens, the power tailgate
fall detection may activate.
Once the power tailgate fall detection activates, wait
until the power tailgate full y closes. Keep away from
the power tailgate when it is in motion.
If the power tailgate fa ll detection constantly
activates, consult a dealer.

Moonroof*
Opening/Closing the Moonroof
You can operate the moonroof when the power mode is in ON. Use the switch in
the front of the ceiling to open and close the moonroof.
■Automatic operation
To open: Pull the switch back firmly.
To close: Push the switch forward firmly.
The moonroof automatica lly opens or closes
all the way. To stop the moonroof midway,
pull or push the switch briefly.
■Manual operation
To open: Pull the switch back lightly, and
hold it until the desired position is reached.
To close: Push the switch forward lightly, and
hold it until the desired position is reached.
■Tilting the moonroof up
To tilt: Push on the center of the moonroof
switch.
To close: Push the switch fo rward firmly, then
release.

NOTICE
Opening the moonroof in below freezing
temperature or when it is covered with snow or ice
can damage the moonr oof panel or motor.
The moonroof can be opera ted for up to 10 minutes
after you set the power mode to VEHICLE OFF
(LOCK).
Opening either front door cancels this function.
When resistance is detected, the auto reverse
function causes the moonroof to change directions,
then stop. Auto reverse stops sensing when the
moonroof is almost closed to ensure that it fully
closes.
You can use the remote transmitter or the key to
operate the moonroof.

someone’s hands or fingers can cause
