TPMS

replacing

ensure
that
the
replacement

alternate
tires
and

allow
the
TPMS
to
continue
to function

Flat
Tire
Monitor
FTM
Concept
The
system
detects
tire
inflation
pressure
loss
on
the
basis
of
rotation
speed
differences
be#j
tween
the
individual
wheels
while
driving.
In
the
event
of
a
tire
inflation
pressure
loss,
the diameter
and
therefore
the
rotational
speed
ofthe
corresponding
wheel
changes.
The
differ#jence
will
be
detected
and
reported
as
a
flat
tire.
The
system
does
not
measure
the
actual
infla#j
tion
pressure
in
the
tires.
Functional
requirements
The
following
conditions
must
be
met
for
the
system;
otherwise,
reliable
flagging
of
a
loss
of
tire
inflation
pressure
is
not
assured:
'xAfter
a
tire
or
wheel
replacement,
an
initializa#j
tion
was
performed
with
the
correct
tire
infla#j
tion
pressure.'xAfter
the
tire
pressure
was
adjusted
to
a
new value,
an
initialization
was
performed.
Status
display
The
current
status
of
the
Flat
Tire
Monitor
FTM
can
be
displayed,
for
instance
whether
the
FTM is
active.

An
initialization
must
be
performed
in
the

pressures
serve
as
reference
values
in

tire
inflation
pressure
in
all
four
tires
is
correct,
the

Monitor
FTM
may
not have
been
initialized.

less
but
may
also
be
more
if
an
economical
driv#j ing
style
is
used.
If
the
vehicle
is
loaded

average
weight
and
used
under
favorable
conditions,
the

Vehicles
driven
with

damaged
tire
will
handle differently,
potentially
leading
to
conditions
suchas
the

Modify
your
driving
style.
Avoid
abrupt
steeringmaneuvers
or
driving
over

failure

Reduce
speed

run-flat
tires

a
flat

wheel

changed

wheels
are available
as
accessories
from
a

short-term lifting

if
all

need
to
change
a
wheel

slight

grade,
place
chocks
and
other
suitable

jects,
for
instance
rocks,
under
the
wheels
of
both
the
front
and
rear
axles
against

Mount
one
emergency
wheel

the
lug
bolts.2.Remove

new
wheel

on and
screw
in
at
least
two
lug
bolts
in
a
cross#jwise
pattern
until
hand-tight.
When
non-original
light-alloy
wheels

manufacturer

mounted,

lug
bolts

remaining
lug

and
