5. Using the lug wrench, screw the towing
eye into place as far as possible according to the instructions.
CAUTION
The towing eyelet must be screwed into the lug wrench * as far as possible.
6. Remove the plastic covers from the wheel
bolts using the designated tool.
7. With the vehicle still on the ground, use the lug wrench/towing eye to loosen the wheel bolts ½-1 turn by pressing down-ward (counterclockwise). 8. When hoisting the vehicle, it is important
that the jack or garage lift arms are posi-tioned on the designated points under thevehicle. The triangle markings on the plas-tic cover indicate where the jack attach-ment points/lifting points are located.There are two jack attachment points oneach side of the vehicle. There is a groovefor the jack at each attachment point.
9. Position the jack under the attachmentpoint being used, ensuring that the sur- face is firm, flat and not slippery. 10. Crank it up until it is properly aligned and
it is in contact with the vehicle's jackattachment point. Make sure the top ofthe jack (or the garage lift arms) is cor-rectly positioned in the attachment point,with the bump on the top of the jack in therecess in the attachment point and thebase positioned vertically under theattachment point.
11. Turn the jack so that the crank is as far as possible from the side of the vehicle,which will position the jack's arms per-pendicular to the vehicle's direction ofmovement.
12. Raise the vehicle until the wheel to be changed can move freely. Unscrew thewheel bolts and lift off the wheel.

Installing a wheel Wheel changes must always be carried out correctly. The following instructions showhow to install a wheel and what is importantto keep in mind.
CAUTION
When not in use, the jack
* should be
kept in its storage compartment under the cargo compartment floor.
The jack provided with your vehicle isintended to be used only in temporarysituations such as changing wheels inthe event of a flat tire. Only the jackthat came with your particular modelshould be used to lift the vehicle. If thevehicle needs to be lifted more fre-quently or for a prolonged period, usinga garage jack or hoist is recommended.Always follow this device's instructionsfor use.
WARNING
Apply the parking brake and put the gear selector in the Park (
P) position.
Block the wheels standing on theground, use rigid wooden blocks orlarge stones.
Check that the jack is not damaged,the threads are properly lubricated andit is free from dirt.
Be sure the jack is on a firm, level, non-slippery surface and that it is uprightand not leaning.
The jack must correctly engage in thejack attachment.
No objects should be placed betweenthe base of the jack and the ground, orbetween the jack and the attachmentbar on the vehicle.
Never let anyone remain in the vehiclewhen it is raised on a jack.
If a tire must be changed near passingtraffic, make sure all passengers moveto a safe location.
Use a jack intended for the vehiclewhen changing a tire. For any otherjob, use stands to support the vehicle.
Never crawl under or allow any part of your body to be extended under a vehi-cle supported by a jack.
The vehicle must be raised high enough sothat the wheel you are removing can turnfreely.
1. Clean the contact surfaces between the wheel and the wheel hub.
2. Lift the wheel into place. Tighten the wheel bolts securely.Do not grease the wheel bolt threads.
3. Lower the vehicle so that the wheel can- not rotate.

CAUTION
Snow chains can be used on the vehicle, with the following restrictions:
Always follow the manufacturer'sinstallation instructions carefully. Installchains as tightly as possible andretighten periodically.
Only put snow chains on the frontwheels (also applies to all-wheel drivevehicles).
If accessory, aftermarket or "custom"tires and wheels with different dimen-sions than the original tires and wheelsare used, snow chains in some casesmay NOT be used. Sufficient distancebetween the chains and brakes, sus-pension and body components mustbe maintained.
Check local regulations regarding theuse of snow chains before installing.
Never exceed the snow chain manu-facturer's specified maximum speedlimit. Under no circumstances shouldyou exceed 50 km/h (30 mph).
Avoid bumps, holes or sharp turnswhen driving with snow chains.
Avoid driving on surfaces withoutsnow as this wears out both the snowchains and the tires.
The handling of the vehicle can be adversely affected when driving withchains. Avoid fast or sharp turns aswell as locked wheel braking.
Some types of strap-on chains affectbrake components and therefore mustNOT be used.

The temporary tire sealing system can be used to seal a puncture in a tire or to checkand adjust the pressure in the tire. Models equipped with a spare wheel 16
do not
have the tire sealing system.

NOTE
The sealing compound effectively seals tires with punctures in the tread but maynot be able to fully seal tires with punctu-res in the sidewall. Do not use the tire seal-ing system on tires with large tears, cracksor similar damage.
NOTE
The compressor is intended for temporary tire sealing and is approved by Volvo.
LocationThe tire sealing system is located in a foam block under the floor of the cargo compart-ment.
Sealing compound expiration dateThe sealing compound bottle must be replaced if its expiration date has passed (seethe decal on the bottle). Handle the old bottleas hazardous waste.

Using the electrical outlets
The 12 V outlet can be used for devices intended for this such as MP3 players, cool-ers and cellular phones. The high-voltage outlet * can be used for devi-
ces intended for this, such as chargers, lap- tops, etc.
The ignition must be in at least mode I for the
outlets to supply current. The outlets will then be active as long as there is sufficient chargein the start battery. If the engine is turned off and the vehicle is locked, the outlets will be deactivated. If theengine is turned off and the vehicle remainsunlocked, the sockets will remain active for upto 7 minutes.
NOTE
Bear in mind that using the electrical out- lets when the engine is off could cause thestarter battery to have too low of a chargelevel, which could limit other functionality. Accessories connected to the electrical outlets can be activated even when thevehicle electrical system is off or if precon-ditioning is used. For this reason, discon-nect plugs when they are not in use to pre-vent the starter battery from becoming dis-charged.
WARNING
Do not use accessories with large or heavy plugs – they could damage theoutlet or come loose while you are driv-ing.
Do not use accessories that couldcause disruptions to e.g. the vehicle'sradio receiver or electrical system.
Position the accessory so that there isno risk of it injuring the driver or pas-sengers in the event of heavy brakingor a collision.
Pay attention to connected accessoriesas they can generate heat that couldburn passengers or the interior.
Using 12 V outlets1. Remove the stopper (tunnel console) or
fold down the cover (trunk/cargo com-partment) over the socket and plug in thedevice.
2. Unplug the device and put the stopper back in (tunnel console) or fold up thecover (trunk/cargo compartment) whenthe socket is not in use or left unattended.
CAUTION
The maximum power is 120 W (10 A) per outlet.
Using high-voltage outletsThe ignition must be in at least mode I for the
outlets to supply current. The outlets will then be active as long as there is sufficient chargein the start battery. 1. Slide down the cover over the outlet and plug in the device. >

3. Disconnect the device by pulling out the
plug (do not pull on the cord). Pull up the cover when the outlet is not in use or is left unattended.
CAUTION
The maximum power is 150 W.
WARNING
Do not attempt to alter or repair the high- voltage outlet on your own. Volvo recom-mends contacting an authorized Volvoworkshop.
WARNING
Only use accessories that are not dam- aged or malfunctioning. The accesso-ries must be CE marked, UL marked orhave an equivalent safety marking.
Accessories must be designed for 120V and 60 Hz, with plugs intended forthe outlet.
New let outlets, plugs or accessoriescome into contact with water oranother fluid. Do not touch or use theoutlet if it appears damaged or hasbeen in contact with water or anotherfluid.
Do not connect power strips, adaptersor extension cords to the outlet hasthis could cause the outlet's safetyfunctions to malfunction.
The outlet is equipped with a petguard. Make sure that no one picks ator damages the outlet in such a waythat the guard is disabled. Childrenshould not be left unsupervised in thevehicle when the outlet is active.
Failure to follow the above could lead to severe or fatal electrical shocks.

Using the glove compartment
The glove compartment is located on the pas- senger side. The glove compartment can beused to store the Owner's Manual, maps, etc.There is also room for a pen and a cardholder.
The glove compartment is opened by pressing the opening button in the center console.
Locking and unlocking the glove boxThe glove compartment can be locked ("pri-vate locking") when the vehicle is left at aworkshop, hotel, etc. When private locking isactivated, the tailgate is also locked.
Using the glove box as a cooled areaThe glove compartment can be used to coole.g. drinks or food. Cooling is possible whenthe climate system is active (i.e. when the

Sun visors
In the ceiling in front of the driver's and front passenger's seats, there are sun visors thatcan be lowered and angled to the side asnecessary.

The mirror lighting * comes on automatically
when the visor is lifted up. The mirror frame has a holder for e.g. cards or tickets.

Cargo compartment
The vehicle has a flexible cargo compartment that makes it possible to carry and securelarge objects.
The cargo compartment capacity can be con- siderably increased by folding down the back- rests in the second and third rows * of seats.
To make loading and unloading easier, the rear section of the vehicle can be raised and low- ered using the level control function *. Use the
load anchoring eyelets or grocery bag holders to help secure objects in place, and the retractable cargo compartment cover * to help
conceal objects in the cargo compartment. If the vehicle is equipped with a temporary spare tire, this is secured to the cargo com-partment floor under the cover. The towingeyelet and tire sealing system are locatedunder the cargo compartment floor.

WARNING
Objects in the cargo compartment must always be securely anchored, even with acorrectly installed cargo net.
Installing the cargo net
WARNING
All of the cargo net's upper consoles, hooks and straps must be securely moun-ted and attached before the net is used. Never use the net if it is damaged.
NOTE
With front mounting, the cargo net is most easily installed via a rear door.
1. Fold out the cargo net and make sure thatthe upper rod folds out and locks into position.
2. Insert one of the net's hooks into the front or rear ceiling mounting point with thestrap lock facing you. 3. Insert the net's other upper hook into the
ceiling mounting point on the oppositeside. The telescopic spring-loaded hooks make mounting easier. Make sure that the net's hooks are pushed forward as far as possible into theirrespective mounting points. 4.
Rear mounting.
For rear mounting: With the cargo net hooked into the rear ceiling mounting points, attach the net'sstraps into the front cargo anchoring eye-lets in the cargo compartment.
