Jack*
The jack can be used to lift the vehicle to e.g. change a wheel.CAUTION
When not in use, the jack
* should be
kept in its storage compartment under the cargo compartment floor.
The jack provided with your vehicle isintended to be used only in temporarysituations such as changing wheels inthe event of a flat tire. Only the jackthat came with your particular modelshould be used to lift the vehicle. If thevehicle needs to be lifted more fre-quently or for a prolonged period, usinga garage jack or hoist is recommended.Always follow this device's instructionsfor use.
The jack needs to be cranked together to the correct position in order to fit. For vehicles with

: If the
vehicle is equipped with the optional pneu- matic suspension, it must be turned off beforethe vehicle is lifted on a jack.

Wheel bolts
The wheel bolts hold the wheel in place on the wheel hub.
Only use rims that have been tested and approved by Volvo and are included in Volvo'soriginal product range. Use a torque wrench to check that the wheel bolts are tightened correctly. Do not grease the wheel bolt threads.
WARNING
The wheel bolts may need to be tightened again several days after a wheel change.Temperature fluctuations and vibrationscan cause them to loosen slightly.
CAUTION
The wheel bolts should be tightened to 140 Nm (103 ft. lbs.). Over-tightening orunder-tightening could damage the threa-ded joints.

4. Tighten the wheel bolts in a crisscross pat-
tern (as shown in illustration). It is impor- tant that the wheel bolts are securelytightened. Tighten to 140 Nm (103 ft. lbs.).Use a torque wrench to check torque.
5. Press the plastic covers onto the wheelbolts.
6. Check the tire inflation pressure and store the new inflation pressure in the tire pres- sure monitoring system *.
WARNING
The wheel bolts may need to be tightened again several days after a wheel change.Temperature fluctuations and vibrationscan cause them to loosen slightly.
NOTE
After inflating a tire, always replace the valve cap to help prevent valve damagecaused by gravel, dirt, etc.
Use plastic valve caps only. Metal capscould corrode and become difficult toremove.

Spare wheel 13
The spare wheel is a Temporary Spare and can be used to temporarily replace a punc- tured tire on one of the vehicle's regularwheels.
The spare tire is only intended for temporary use. Replace it with a normal wheel as soon aspossible. The driving characteristics of the vehicle change and ground clearance reduces whenthe spare wheel is used. Do not wash the vehi-cle in an automatic car wash while using theTemporary Spare. The recommended tire pressure must be maintained regardless of at which position thetemporary spare wheel is used on the vehicle. If the spare wheel is damaged, a new one can be purchased from a Volvo retailer.
WARNING
Current legislation prohibits the use of the "Temporary Spare" tire other than as atemporary replacement for a puncturedtire. It must be replaced as soon as possi-ble by a standard tire. Road holding andhandling may be affected with the "Tempo-rary Spare" in use. Do not drive faster than80 km/h (50 mph).

Sun visors
In the ceiling in front of the driver's and front passenger's seats, there are sun visors thatcan be lowered and angled to the side asnecessary.
The illustration is generic – the design may vary.
The mirror lighting * comes on automatically
when the visor is lifted up. The mirror frame has a holder for e.g. cards or tickets.

Folding down the armrest in the rear seat

The rear seat armrest * can be folded down for
increased comfort.
The armrest is locked in the raised position and needs to be unlocked before it is foldeddown. The handle for unlocking the armrest islocated directly underneath the head restraint.
1. Grasp the handle and rotate it toward you to unlock the armrest.
2. When the handle is rotated to its maxi-mum position, the armrest is unlocked and can be folded down.
CAUTION
Before moving down the armrest, make sure to unlock it by rotating the handle.Do not pull the handle if the armrest islocked.
Make sure the armrest is securelylocked into position after it is folded up.

On-board Diagnostic SystemOBD II is part of your vehicle's computerized engine management system. It stores diag-nostic information about your vehicle's emis-sion controls. It can light the Check Enginelight (MIL) if it detects an emission control"fault." A "fault" is a component or systemthat is not performing within an expectedrange. A fault may be permanent or temporary.OBD II will store a message about any fault.

Many states connect a computer directly to a vehicle's OBD II system. The inspector canthen read "faults." In some states, this type ofinspection has replaced the tailpipe emissiontest.
How can my vehicle fail OBD II emission
inspection?
Your vehicle can fail OBD II emission inspec- tion for any of the following reasons: If your Check Engine (MIL) light is lit, your vehicle may fail inspection.
If your vehicle's Check Engine light was lit,but went out without any action on yourpart, OBD II will still have a recorded fault.Your vehicle may pass or fail, dependingon the inspection practices in your area.
If you had recent service that required dis-connecting the battery, OBD II diagnosticinformation may be incomplete and "notready" for inspection. A vehicle that is notready may fail inspection.
How can I prepare for my next
OBD II
emission inspection?
If your Check Engine (MIL) light is lit or was lit but went out without service, have your vehicle diagnosed and, if necessary,serviced by a qualified Volvo technician.
If you recently had service for a lit CheckEngine light, or if you had service thatrequired disconnecting the battery, aperiod of driving is necessary to bring theOBD II system to "ready" for inspection.Two half-hour trips of mixed stop-and-go/highway driving are typically needed toallow OBD II to reach readiness. YourVolvo retailer can provide you with moreinformation on planning a trip.
Maintain your vehicle in accordance withyour vehicle's maintenance schedule.
Owner maintenancePeriodic maintenance requirements and inter-vals are described in your vehicle's Warrantyand Service Records Information booklet. The following points can be carried out between the normally scheduled maintenanceservices.

Climate control system service
Service and repairs on the air conditioning system should only be done by an authorizedworkshop.
Troubleshooting and repairsThe air conditioning system contains a fluores- cent tracer substance. Ultraviolet light is usedto search for leaks in the system. Volvo recommends contacting an authorized Volvo workshop.
Vehicles with R134a refrigerant
WARNING
The air conditioning system contains the refrigerant R134a under pressure. Serviceand repairs to the system should only bedone by an authorized workshop.
Vehicles with R1234yf refrigerant
WARNING
The air conditioning system contains the refrigerant R1234yf under pressure. Inaccordance with SAE J2845 (TechnicianTraining for Safe Service and Containmentof Refrigerants Used in Mobile A/C Sys-tem), service and repairs to the refrigerantsystem may only be performed by trainedand certified technicians in order to ensurethe safety of the system.

Replacing a windshield with head- up display

Vehicles with a head-up display have a spe- cial type of windshield that meets therequirements for displaying projected infor-mation.
Volvo recommends contacting an authorized Volvo workshop for assistance replacing thewindshield. The correct type of replacementwindshield must be used in order for the head-up display to function properly.

Replacing bulbs
Bulb types vary depending on model and equipment level. If a light bulb 15
breaks, it can
be replaced by following the procedure shown in the Owner's Manual. If you are experiencing problems with any lights other than light bulbs, contact a work- shop 16
.
If there is a problem with an LED 17
light, the
entire lamp unit will normally need to be replaced.
NOTE
For information on lights not mentioned in the Owner's Manual, contact a Volvodealer or a certified Volvo service techni-cian.
WARNING
The vehicle electrical system must be in ignition mode 0 when bulbs are replaced.
CAUTION
Never touch the bulb glass with your bare fingers. Grease and oils from your fingersvaporize in the heat and will leave adeposit on the reflector, which may dam-age it.
NOTE
If the error message persists after the defective bulb has been replaced, we rec-ommend a visit to an authorized Volvoworkshop.
NOTE
Exterior lighting such as headlights and taillights may develop temporary conden-sation on the inside of the lens. This is nor-mal. All exterior lighting is designed toresist this. Condensation is normally ven-ted out of the lamp housing once the lighthas been lit for some period of time.
NOTE
Bulbs for active curve lighting * contain
traces of mercury and should therefore always be submitted to a certified Volvoservice technician.

Removing the plastic cover to replace bulbs The headlight bulbs can be replaced without the assistance of a workshop, but before abulb can be replaced, the plastic cover overthe headlight needs to be removed.
–Release the pins in the plastic cover's four clips by pressing them down with ascrewdriver or similar object and removethe covering.
NOTE
To bear in mind when refitting the cover- ing:
The pin in the clip must be pressedback completely before the clip is rein-stalled in the covering.
When the covering is reinstalled, thepin must be pressed in until the endsurface is level with the surface of theclip.
