. The hillstart assist system maynotprevent
the vehicle fromrolling backwards onahill

The hillstart assist system automatically keepsthe
brakes applied tohelp prevent thevehicle fromrolling

brake pedalandapply theaccelerator whenthevehicle
is stopped onahill.
The hillstart assist system willoperate automatically
under thefollowing conditions:
. Thetransmission isshifted toaforward orreverse
gear. .
The vehicle isstopped completely onahill by
applying thebrake.
The maximum holdingtimeis2seconds. After2
seconds thevehicle willbegin toroll back andthehill
start assist system willstop operating completely .
The hillstart assist system willnotoperate whenthe
transmission isshifted tothe ªNº (Neutral) orªPº (Park)
position oron aflat and level road.
When theVehicle Dynamic Control(VDC)/Electronic
Stability Program (ESP)warning lightilluminates inthe
meter, thehillstart assist system willnotoperate. (See

. The hilldescent controlsystemmaynot
control thevehicle speedonahill under all
load orroad conditions. Alwaysbeprepared
to depress thebrake pedaltocontrol vehicle
speed. Failure todo somay result ina
collision orserious personal injury.
CAUTION:
When thehilldescent controlsystemoperates
continuously foralong time, thetemperature of
the Vehicle Dynamic Control(VDC)/Electronic
Stability Program (ESP)system actuator may
increase andthehilldescent controlsystemmay
be temporarily disabled(thehilldescent control
system onindicator lightwillblink) .If the
indicator lightdoes notcome oncontinuously
after blinking, stopusing thesystem.
When thehilldescent controlsystem isactivated, it
automatically appliessmooth brakestocontrol speed
on asteep andslippery descent oroff the road without
brake oraccelerator operation.
The hilldescent controlsystem helpsmaintain vehicle
speed whendriving under25km/h (15MPH) ona

Never installtirechains onaTemporary-use sparetire

Do not drive withtirechains onpaved roadswhich are
clear ofsnow .Driving withchains insuch conditions
can cause damage tothe various mechanisms ofthe
vehicle duetosome overstress.

NISSAN recommends thattires berotated every5,000
km (3,000 miles)forFour-Wheel Drive(4WD) orevery
10,000 km(6,000 miles)forTwo-Wheel Drive(2WD)
model. However, thetiming fortire rotation mayvary
according toyour driving habitsandtheroad surface
conditions. (SeeªFlattireº(P.6-2) forthe tirereplace-
ment.)
WARNING:
. After rotating thetires, adjust thetire
pressure.
. Retighten thewheel nutswhen thevehicle
has been driven for1,000 km(600 miles) (also
incases ofaflat tire, etc.).
. Donot include thespare tireintire rotation.
. Incorrect tireselection, fitting,care,or
maintenance canaffect vehicle safetywith
risk ofaccident andinjury. Ifin doubt,

replaced. Improper

When replacing atire, usethesame size,speed rating
and load carrying capacity asoriginally equipped. (See
ªTires andwheelsº (P.9-7) forrecommended typesand
sizes oftires andwheels.) Theuseoftires other than
those recommended orthe mixed useoftires of
different brands,construction (bias,bias-belted, or
radial) ,or tread patterns canadversely affecttheride,
braking, handling, groundclearance, body-to-tire
clearance, snowchainclearance, TirePressure Mon-
itoring System (TPMS),speedometer calibration,
headlight aimand bumper height.Someofthese
effects maylead toaccidents andcould resultin
serious personal injury.
If the wheels arechanged forany reason, always
replace withwheels whichhavethesame offset
dimension. Wheelsofadifferent offsetcouldcause
early tirewear, possibly degraded vehiclehandling
characteristics and/orinterference withthebrake
