In addition tocon ventional switches and but‐
to ns, your vehicle is equipped with touch-sensi‐
tive cont rols.
These are located in thefo llowing areas of your
ve hicle:
R Roof and door contro l panel
R Climate control
R Steering wheel
R MBUX multimedia sy stem
The controls ha vetouch-sensitive user inter face
su rfaces. The sur faces are controlled bypress‐
ing or swiping toadjust settings or totrig ger
functions, forex ample.
In the area of theto uchsc reen, you also recei ve
haptic feedback in thefo rm of a pulse or a vibra‐
tion, or the sur face stru cture changes on the
to uch-sensitive user inter face su rface, forex am‐
ple. Yo
ure cei vehaptic feedback in thefo llowing sit‐
uations, forex ample:
R When pressing a button on the user inter face
su rface
R When sc rolling in a list or table
R When reaching a new area on the user inter‐
fa ce su rface, e.g. a pop-up wind ow
When handling touch-sensitive user inter face
su rfaces, obse rveth efo llowing points toavoid
problems operating:
R Do not af fix st icke rs or similar objects on the
sur faces.
R Keep the sur faces pr otected from moisture
and wet conditions.
R Keep the sur faces free of du stand dirt.

Data processing
The data transmitted within the scope of the call
is dele ted from the processing sy stem af terthe

the displa ys
The following messages appear in the multime‐
dia sy stem display for bo themer gency call sys‐
te ms:
R SOS NOT READY: the ignition is not on or
eCall is not available. This does not necessa‐
ri ly indicate comple tefailure of the emer‐
ge ncy call sy stem. Emer gency calls call still
be transmitte d.
The display only refers to theve hicle and
does not take account of theav ailability of
mobile phone networ ksand the Mercedes-
Benz emer gency call centre.
The functional readiness of the emer gency
call sy stem on theve hicle can be seen when
th eSOS NOT READY display disappears once
th e ignition is switched on.
R G: The icon appears in the display during
an active emer gency call.
% Ifth ere is a malfunction of the emer gency
call sy stem, the loudspeakers, microphone,
airbag or the SOS button, forex ample, are
fa ulty. Yo
u can recognise a fault in the emer gency
call sy stem bythefo llowing displa ys:

eCall) automatically initiate an emer gency call:
R After activation of there stra int sy stems such
as airbags or seat belt tensioners af ter an
accident
R After an auto matically initia ted emer gency
st op byActive Emergency Stop Assist The emer
gency call has been made:
R Avo ice connection is es tablished with the
emer gency call centre.
R A messa gewith accident data is transmitted
to the emer gency call centre.
The SOS button in theove rhead control panel
fl ashes until the emer gency call is finished.
If no connection can be made tothe public
emer gency services, a cor responding message
appears inthe displa y. #
Dial the emer gency number 112 or an app ro‐
priate local emer gency call number on your
mobile phone.
If an eme rgency call has been initiated:
R Remain in theve hicle if thero ad and traf fic
conditions permit youto do so until a voice
connection is es tablished with the emer‐
ge ncy call centre.
R Onthe basis of the call, the emer gency call
centre decides wh ether it is necessary tocall
re scue teams and/or the police tothe acci‐

During thech arging process and starting
assis tance, the battery may release an explo‐
sive gas mixture. #
Avoid fire , naked flames, creating
spar ksand smoking. #
Make sure there is suf ficient ventila‐
tion. #
Do not lean over a batter y. &
WARNING Risk ofexplosion from a fro‐
zen battery
A dischar ged battery may freeze at temp era‐
tures slightly abo veor below freezing point.
During starting assis tance or battery charg‐
ing, bat tery gas can be released. #
Alw ays allow a battery tothaw before
ch arging it or per form ing starting assis‐
ta nce. If
th e indicator/warning lamps in the instrument
clus ter do not light up at low temp eratures, it is
ve ry likely that the dischar ged battery has fro‐
zen. In this case you may neither jump-s tart the
ve hicle nor charge the batter y.
The service life of a battery that has been
th awe d may be dramatically shor tened. The
st arting characteristics may be impaired, espe‐
cially at low temp eratures.
It is recommended that you ha veathaw ed bat‐
te ry checked at a qualified specialist workshop.

parts while the jump lead/charging cable is
connected tothe battery/jump-s tart connec‐
tion point.
R The jump lead/charging cable must not
come into contact wi thany parts which may
mo vewhen the engine is running.
R Alw ays make sure that nei ther you nor the
battery is elect rostatically charge d.
R Keep away from fire and naked flames.
R Do not lean overth e batter y.
Obser vethe additional following points when
ch arging the battery:
R Only use battery charge rs tested and
appr oved for Mercedes-Benz.
R Read the battery charge r's operating instruc‐
