an event datarecorder (EDR).Themain pur-
pose ofan EDRis to record, incert aincrash or
near crash-lik esituations, suchasan air bag
deployment orhittin garoad obstacle, data
that willassist inunderstan dinghowavehi-
cle's systems performed. TheEDRis designed
to record datarelating tovehicle dynamics
and safety systems forashort period oftime,
typically 30seconds orless.
