Fuel grade labels are visible on fuel-filler lid, therefore, verify the fuel grade before
refueling. If the fuel grade cannot be verified, ask the gas station attendant.
CAUTION
 Never use fuel other than specification Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD, 15 ppm sulfur or less)
fuel that meets the ASTM D975 standard or th e equivalent for your vehicle. Use of gasoline
or kerosene in diesel engines will result in fuel system and engine damage.
 Never use diesel fuel with concentrations of methyl ester bio-diesel higher than 5 % (B5),
such as B20 or B100.
 Never add fuel system additives other than a Mazda genuine product, otherwise the
emission control system could be damaged. Consult an Authorized Mazda Dealer for
details.
 If any type of incorrect fuel is accidently pumped into the fuel tank, do not turn on the
engine and drive the vehicle. Consult an Authorized Mazda Dealer for assistance.
Turning on the engine or driving the vehicle with the incorrect fuel could cause damage to
the fuel pump and fuel injectors.
 Do not mistake the refueling port for the DEF
filler port. If fuel was added to the DEF
filler
port by mistake, do not turn on the engine and drive the vehicle. Consult an Authorized
Mazda Dealer for assistance.
Turning on the engine or driving the vehicle with fuel in the DEF filler port could cause
damage to the emission control system.

NOTE
Fuel for winter driving is available. Ask the gas station attendant for details.
When refueling, always add at least 10 L (2.6 US gal, 2.2 Imp gal) of fuel.
Low outside temperatures
When the outside temperature is low, diesel fuel (light oil) may freeze and clog the fuel
pipe, leading to problems such as the engine not starting. When driving to a cold region, add
winter grade diesel fuel as soon as possible.

About the SCR system
WA R N I N G
Be careful not to allow the DEF to run out. If the DEF completely runs out, the SCR system will
not operate normally:
If the vehicle runs out of DEF, the vehicle speed is restricted in steps to prevent contaminants
from being exhausted. When the remaining dist ance-to-empty reaches 0 km (0 miles) in the
final stage, the engine is forced to idle. Fo
r replenishment of the DEF supply, consult an
Authorized Mazda Dealer.
CAUTION
Use a Mazda genuine product or a product conforming to ISO22241-1 for DEF. If
incompatible DEF is used, the SCR system may not operate normally. For the recommended
DEF, consult the nearest Authorized Mazda Dealer.
NOTE
When the remaining distance-to-empty is 640 km (400 miles) or shorter while the DEF
warning indication is displayed, the SCR wa rning light turns on and the vehicle speed is
restricted. In addition, if there is a prob lem with the SCR system/DEF and the remaining
distance-to-empty is 200 km (125 miles) or shorter, the SCR warning light flashes and the
vehicle speed is restricted.
DEF needs to be replenished periodically according to the scheduled maintenance
information. If a warning message is displaye d in the multi-information display or the
SCR warning light flashes, consul t an Authorized Mazda Dealer.
Normally, the vehicle can be driven about 12,000 km (7,500 miles) before the DEF needs
to be replenished.
▼Engine Exhaust (Carbon monoxide)

Do not drive your vehicle if you smell exhaust gas inside the vehicle:
Engine exhaust gas is dangerous. This gas contai
ns carbon monoxide (CO), which is colorless,
odorless, and poisonous. When inhaled, it can cause loss of consciousness and death. If you
smell exhaust gas inside the vehicle, keep a ll windows fully open and contact an Authorized
Mazda Dealer immediately.

Fuel-Filler Lid and Cap
WA R N I N G
When removing the fuel-filler cap, loosen
the cap slightly and wait for any hissing to
stop, then remove it:
Fuel spray is dangerous. Fuel can burn skin
and eyes and cause illness if ingested. Fuel
spray is released when there is pressure in
the fuel tank and the fuel-filler cap is
removed too quickly.
Before refueling, stop the engine, and
always keep sparks and flames away from
the filler neck:
Fuel vapor is dangerous. It could be ignited
by sparks or flames causing serious burns
and injuries.
Additionally, use of the incorrect fuel-filler
cap or not using a fuel-filler cap may result
in a fuel leak, which could result in serious
burns or death in an accident.
Do not continue refueling after the fuel
pump nozzle shuts off automatically:
Continuing to add fuel after the fuel pump
nozzle has shut off automatically is
dangerous because overfilling the fuel tank
may cause fuel overflow or leakage. Fuel
overflow and leakage could damage the
vehicle and if the fuel ignites it could cause
a fire and explosion resulting in serious
injury or death.
CAUTION
Always use only a ge nuine Mazda fuel-filler
cap or an approved equivalent, available
at an Authorized Mazda Dealer. The wrong
cap can result in a serious malfunction of
the fuel and emission control systems.

It may also cause the check engine light in
the instrument cluster to illuminate.

3. Attach the removed cap to the innerside of the fuel-filler lid.

4. Insert the refueling nozzle all the way
and begin refueling. Pull out the
refueling nozzle after the refueling
stops automatically.
5. To close the fuel-filler cap, turn it
clockwise until a click is heard.
6. To close, press the fuel-filler lid until it
locks securely.

CAUTION

SKYACTIV-G 2.5T for U.S.A. and Canada)
If the check fuel cap warning light
illuminates, the fuel-filler cap may not be
properly installed. If the warning light
illuminates, park your vehicle safely off the
right-of-way, remove th e fuel-filler cap and
reinstall it correctly. After the cap has been
correctly installed, the fuel cap warning
light may continue to illuminate until a
number of driving cycles have been
completed. A drive cycle consists of starting
the engine (after four or more hours with
the engine off) and driving the vehicle on
city and highway roads.
Continuing to drive with the check fuel cap
warning light illuminated could cause the
check engine light to illuminate as well.

Reducing glare from headlights

Power Windows
The windows can be opened/closed by operating the power window switches.
WA R N I N G
Make sure the opening is clear before closing a window:
Closing a power window is dangerous. A person's hands, head, or even neck could be caught
by the window and result in serious injury or even death. This warning applies especially to
children.
Never allow children to play with power window switches:
Power window switches that are not locked wi th the power window lock switch would allow
children to operate power windows unintentionally , which could result in serious injury if a
child's hands, head or neck becomes caught by the window.
Make sure nothing blocks the window just before it reaches the fully closed position or while
fully holding up the power window switch:
Blocking the power window just before it reach es the fully closed position or while fully
holding up the power window switch is dangerous.
In this case, the jam-safe function cannot prevent the window from closing all the way. If
fingers are caught, serious injuries could occur.
NOTE
When driving with only 1 of the rear windows open, your ears might experience a
resonating sound. However, this does not indicate a problem. The sound can be reduced by
slightly opening a front window or by changi ng the size of the rear window opening.

with the ignition switched ON. Do not open or close 3 or more windows at the same time.

The front passenger's side and rear windows can be opened/closed when the power window
lock switch on the driver's door is in the unlock position. Keep this switch in the locked
position while children are in the vehicle.

NOTE
A power window may no longer open/close if you continue to press the switch after fully
opening/closing the power window. If the po
wer window does not open/close, wait a
moment and then operate the switch again.
The passenger windows may be opened or closed using the master control switches on the
driver's door.
The power window can be operated for about 40 seconds after the ignition is switched
from ON to ACC or off with all doors closed. If any door is opened, the power window
will stop operating.
For engine-off operation of the power window, the switch must be held up firmly
throughout window closure because the aut o-closing function will be inoperable.
When the power window lock switch is in th e locked position, the light on each power
window switch, except for the driver's power window switch, turns off. The light may be
difficult to see depending on the surrounding brightness.
