Starting the hybrid system
✽ ✽NOTICE
• The hybrid system will start by
pressing the Engine Start/Stop
button, only when the smart key is
in the vehicle.
• Even when the smart key is in the vehicle, if it is far away from the
driver, the hybrid system may not
start.
• When the Engine Start/Stop but- ton is in the ACC or ON position,
and any door is open, the system
checks for the smart key. When
the smart key is not in the vehicle,
the " " indicator will blink and
the warning "Key not in vehicle"
will come on. When all doors are
closed, the chime will also sound
for about 5 seconds. Keep the
smart key in the vehicle when in
the ACC position or if the hybrid
system is ON.
1. Always carry the smart key with
you.
2. Make sure the parking brake is applied.
3. Make sure the shift lever is in P (Park).
4. Depress the brake pedal.
5. Press the Engine Start/Stop but- ton. If the hybrid system starts, the
" " indicator will come on.✽ ✽NOTICE
• Do not wait for the engine to warm
up while the vehicle remains sta-
tionary.
Start driving at moderate engine
speeds. (Steep accelerating and
decelerating should be avoided.)
• Always start the vehicle with your foot on the brake pedal. Do not
depress the accelerator while
starting the vehicle. Do not race
the engine while warming it up.
• If ambient temperature is low, the " " indicator may remain illu-
minated longer than the normal
amount of time.

To adjust the sensitivity of
smart cruise control
The sensitivity of vehicle speed when
following the front vehicle to maintain
the set distance can be adjusted. Go
to the User Settings Mode (Driver
Assistance) and select (SCC
Reaction). You may select one of the
three stages you prefer.
Slow:Vehicle speed to the vehicle ahead
to maintain the set distance to the
vehicle ahead is slower than nor-
mal speed.
Normal: Vehicle speed to the vehicle ahead
to maintain the set distance to the
vehicle ahead is normal
Fast: Vehicle speed to the vehicle ahead
to maintain the set distance to the
vehicle ahead is faster than normal
speed.

The last selected mode remains in
the system.
To convert to cruise control
mode:
The driver may choose to only use
the cruise control mode (speed con-
trol function) by doing as follows: 1. Turn the smart cruise control sys-
tem on (the cruise indicator light
will be on but the system will not
be activated).
2. Push the distance to distance switch for more than 2 seconds.
3. Choose between "Smart Cruise Control" and "Cruise Control".
When the system is canceled using
the CRUISE button or the CRUISE
button is used after the engine is
turned on, the Smart Cruise Control
mode will turn on.

Hybrid vehicleThe drive mode may be selected

If there is a problem with the instru-
ment cluster, the drive mode will be
in ECO mode and may not change to
NORMAL mode or SPORT mode.
The mode changes whenever the
DRIVE MODE button is pressed.

When ECO is activated:
The acceleration may slightly bereduced even though you depress
the accelerator fully.
The air conditioner performance may be limited
The shift pattern of the automatic transmission may change.
The engine noise may get louder.
The above situations are normal
conditions when the Eco System is
activated to help improve fuel effi-
ciency in certain situations.
Limitation of ECO operation:
If the following conditions occur while
ECO is operating, the system opera-
tion is limited even though there is no
change in the ECO indicator.
When the coolant temperature is low:
The system will be limited until
engine performance becomes nor-
mal.
When driving up a hill: The system will be limited to gain
power when driving uphill because
the engine torque is restricted.
When using manual mode: The system will be limited accord-
ing to the shift location.
When the accelerator pedal is deeply depressed for a few sec-
onds:
The system will be limited, judging
that the driver wants to speed up.
SPORT mode
SPORT mode focuses ondynamic driving by auto-
matically adjusting the
steering wheel, engine
and transmission system.
When the DRIVE MODE button is pressed and the SPORT mode is
selected, the SPORT indicator
(yellow) will illuminate.
Whenever the hybrid system is restarted, the Drive Mode will revert
back to ECO mode. If SPORT
mode is desired, re-select SPORT
mode from the DRIVE MODE but-
ton.
If the system is activated: - While holding vehicle speed, itmaintains the gear and RPM for
some time even though the accel-
erator pedal is not depressed.
- Up-shifting is delayed.

NOTICE
In Sport drive mode, the fuel effi-
ciency may decrease.

The system will be cancelled when:
You change lanes with the turn sig-nal.
- Using the turn signal to changelanes.
- If you change lanes without the turn signal on, the steering wheel
might be controlled.
LKA can transit to steering assist mode when the car is near to mid-
dle of the lane after system on or
the lane was changed. LKA cannot
assist steering if the vehicle follows
a lane marker too closely.
The control of ESC (Electronic Stability Control) or VSM (Vehicle
Stability Management) is activated.
The steering will not be assisted when you drive fast on a sharp
curve. The steering will not be assisted
when vehicle speed is below 60
km/h (37 mph) and over 177 km/h
(110 mph). Always obey all traffic
laws and drive safely.
The steering will not be assisted when you change lanes quickly.
The steering will not be assisted when you brake suddenly.
The steering will not be assisted when the lane is very wide or nar-
row.
The steering will not be assisted when only one side lane marker is
detected.
There are more than two lane markers such as a construction
area.
Radius of a curve is too small.
When you turn steering wheel sud- denly, the LKA will be disabled
temporarily.
Driving on a steep slope or hill.DRIVER’S ATTENTION
The driver must be cautious in the
following situations because the sys-
tem may be limited when recogni-
tion of the lane marker is poor or
limited :
  When lane and road condition is
poor
• It is difficult to distinguish the lane marker from road when the lane
marker is covered with dust or
sand.
• It is difficult to distinguish the color of the lane marker from
road.
• There is something that resembles a lane marker.
• The lane marker is indistinct or damaged.
• The number of lanes increases/ decreases or the lane lines are
crossing (Driving through a toll
plaza/toll gate, merged/divided

Your vehicle's fuel economy depends
mainly on your style of driving, where
you drive and when you drive.
Each of these factors affects how
many miles (kilometers) you can get
from a gallon (liter) of fuel. To operate
your vehicle as economically as pos-
sible, use the following driving sug-
gestions to help save money in both
fuel and repairs:
Drive smoothly. Accelerate at a
moderate rate. Don't make "jack-
rabbit" starts or full-throttle shifts
and maintain a steady cruising
speed. Don't race between stop-
lights. Try to adjust your speed to
the traffic so you don't have to
change speeds unnecessarily.
Avoid heavy traffic whenever pos- sible. Always maintain a safe dis-
tance from other vehicles so you
can avoid unnecessary braking.
This also reduces brake wear.
Drive at a moderate speed. The faster you drive, the more fuel your
vehicle uses. Driving at a moderate
speed, especially on the highway,
is one of the most effective ways to
reduce fuel consumption. Don't "ride" the brake pedal. This
can increase fuel consumption and
also increase wear on these com-
ponents. In addition, driving with
your foot resting on the brake pedal
may cause the brakes to overheat,
which reduces their effectiveness
and may lead to more serious con-
sequences.
Take care of your tires. Keep them inflated to the recommended pres-
sure. Incorrect inflation, either too
much or too little, results in unnec-
essary tire wear. Check the tire
pressures at least once a month.
Be sure that the wheels are aligned correctly. Improper align-
ment can result from hitting curbs
or driving too fast over irregular
surfaces. Poor alignment causes
faster tire wear and may also result
in other problems as well as
greater fuel consumption. Keep your vehicle in good condi-
tion. For better fuel economy and
reduced maintenance costs, main-
tain your vehicle in accordance
with the maintenance schedule in
chapter 8. If you drive your vehicle
in severe conditions, more frequent
maintenance is required (see
chapter 8 for details).
Keep your vehicle clean. For maxi- mum service, your vehicle should
be kept clean and free of corrosive
materials. It is especially important
that mud, dirt, ice, etc. not be
allowed to accumulate on the
underside of the vehicle. This extra
weight can result in increased fuel
consumption and also contribute to
corrosion.
Travel lightly. Don't carry unneces- sary weight in your vehicle. Weight
reduces fuel economy.
Don't let the engine idle longer than necessary. If you are waiting
(and not in traffic), turn off your
engine and restart only when
you're ready to go.
