Auto defogging system
(only for Automatic climate
control system, if equipped)
Auto defogging reduces the possibil-
ity of fogging up the inside of the
windscreen by automatically sensing
the moisture on the inside of the
windscreen.
The auto defogging system operates
when the heater or air conditioning is
on.When the Auto Defogging
System operates, the indi-
cator will illuminate.
If high levels of moisture are sensed
in the vehicle, the Auto Defogging
System will operate in the following
order:
Step 1 : Outside air position
Step 2 :Operating the air conditioning
Step 3 : Blowing air toward the wind-
screen
Step 4 : Increasing air flow toward
the windscreen
If the air conditioning is off or recircu-
lated air position is manually selected
whilst Auto Defogging System is ON,
the "ADS OFF" symbol Indicator will
blink 3 times to signal that the manual
operation has been cancelled.

Low Vacuum Assist (LVA)
(if equipped)
Low Vacuum Assist (LVA) amplifies
the hydraulic brake force to assist the
driver under low or temporarily low
engine vacuum. You may hear a
motor running sound and feel a slight
vibration in the brake pedal like ABS
operating. This indicates that the
Supplemental Brake Assist system is
working to maintain braking power.
Emergency Stop Signal (ESS)
(if equipped)
The Emergency Stop Signal system
alerts the driver following your vehi-
cle, by blinking the stop lights, whilst
sharply and severely braking.
The system is activated when:
The vehicle suddenly stops (the
deceleration power exceeds 7
m/s
2, and the driving speed
exceeds 55 km/h).
The ABS is activated.
The hazard warning flasher automat-
ically turns ON; after blinking the
stop lights, when driving speed is
below 40 km/h , when the ABS is
deactivated, and when a sudden
braking situation has stopped.
The hazard warning flasher turns
OFF, when the driving speed
exceeds 10 km/h after a complete
stop. The hazard warning flasher
turns OFF, when the vehicle drives at
a low speed for a certain period of
time. The driver can manually turn
OFF the hazard warning flasher by
pressing the button.
Information
The Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) sys-
tem will not activate, when the hazard
warning flasher blinks.
i
Low Vacuum Assist (LVA) will
not prevent accidents due to
improper or dangerous driving
manoeuvres.
WARNING
5-92
The Forward Collision-Avoidance
Assist (FCA) system is designed to
help detect and monitor the vehicle
ahead or detect a pedestrian in the
roadway through radar signals and
camera recognition to warn the driv-
er that a collision is imminent, and if
necessary, apply emergency brak-
ing.System setting and activation
System setting
The driver can activate the FCA by
placing the ignition switch to the
ON position and by selecting:
'User Settings →Driver assistance
→ FCA (Forward Collision-
Avoidance Assist)'
The FCA deactivates, when the driv-
er cancels the system setting.
The warning light illumi-
nates on the LCD display,
when you cancel the FCA
system. The driver can
monitor the FCA ON/OFF status on
the LCD display. Also, the warning
light illuminates when the ESC
(Electronic Stability Control) is
turned off. If the warning light
remains ON when the FCA is acti-
vated, we recommend that you have
the system checked by an authorised
HYUNDAI Dealer.

Driving your vehicle
Take the following precautions
when using the Forward
Collision-Avoidance Assist
(FCA) system:
This system is only a supple-
mental system and it is not
intended to, nor does it
replace the need for extreme
care and attention of the driv-
er. The sensing range and
objects detectable by the sen-
sors are limited. Pay attention
to the road conditions at all
times.
NEVER drive too fast in accor-
dance with the road condi-
tions or whilst cornering.
Always drive cautiously to
prevent unexpected and sud-
den situations from occur-
ring. FCA does not stop the
vehicle completely and is not
a collision avoidance system.
WARNING
5-107
Driving your vehicle
[A] : Blind spot area,
[B] : Closing at high speed
The Blind-spot Collision Warning
(BCW) system uses radar sensors in
the rear bumper to monitor and warn
the driver of an approaching vehicle
in the driver's blind spot area. The system monitors the rear area of
the vehicle and provides information
to the driver with an audible alert and
an indicator on the outside rearview
mirrors.
(1) BCW : Blind spot area
The BCW range varies relative to
vehicle speed. Note that if your
vehicle is travelling much faster
than the vehicles around you, the
warning will not occur.
(2) BCW : Closing at high speed
The BCW-Closing at high speed
feature will alert you when a vehi-
cle is approaching in an adjacent
lane at a high rate of speed. If the
driver activates the turn signal
when the system detects an
oncoming vehicle, the system
sounds an audible alert. Distance
from the approaching vehicle can
be seen differently according to
the relative speed.(3) RCCW (Rear Cross-Traffic
Collision Warning)
The RCCW feature monitors
approaching cross traffic from the
left and right side of the vehicle
when your vehicle is in reverse.
The feature will operate when the
vehicle is moving in reverse below
about 10 km/h. If oncoming cross
traffic is detected a warning chime
will sound.
Distance from the approaching
vehicle can be seen differently
according to the relative speed.

Driving your vehicle
First stage alert
If a vehicle is detected within the
boundaries of the system, a yellow
warning light will illuminate on the
outside rearview mirrors.
Once the detected vehicle is no
longer within the blind spot area, the
warning will turn off depending on
the driving conditions of the vehicle.5

Second stage alert
A warning chime to alert the driver will activate when:
1. A vehicle has been detected in the blind spot area by the radar system
(the warning light will illuminate on the outside rearview mirrors (i.e, in
the first stage alert)) AND
2. The turn signal is applied (on the same side where a vehicle is being
detected).
When this alert is activated, the warning light on the outside rearview mir-
rors will also blink.
If you turn off the turn signal indicator, the second stage alert (the warning
chime and the blinking warning light on the outside rearview mirrors) will
be deactivated.
