Seat belt warning light and
chime
The light and chime remind you to fasten
your seat belts. The light illuminates when-
ever the ignition switch is placed in the ON
or START position and remains illuminateduntil the seat belt is fastened. At the
same time, the chime sounds for about
6 seconds unless the seat belt is
securely fastened.
The seat belt warning light may also illumi-
nate if the front seat belt is not
fastened when the front seat
is occupied. For 7 seconds af ter the ignition
switch is placed in the ON position, the sys-
tem does not activate the warning light for
the front passenger.

Supplemental air bag
warning light
When the ignition switch is placed in the ON
or START position, the supplemental air
bag warning light illuminates for about
7 seconds and then turns off. This means
the system is operational.
If any of the following conditions occur, the
front air bag, side air bag, curtain air bag,
and pretensioner seat belt systems need
servicing: The supplemental air bag warning light
remains on af ter approximately 7 sec-
onds.
 The supplemental air bag warning light
flashes intermittently.
 The supplemental air bag warning light
does not come on at all.
It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN
dealer for these services.
Unless checked and repaired, the supple-
mental restraint system (air bag system)
and/or the pretensioner(s) may not func-
tion properly. For additional information, re-
fer to Restraint System
(SRS)Ž in the seat belts and
supplemental restraint systemŽ section of
this manual.

… avoid steep uphill grades;… if possible, reduce the amount of
cargo being hauled.
The MIL may stop blinking and come on
steady. Have the vehicle inspected. It is rec-
ommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer
for this service. You do not need to have
your vehicle towed to the dealer.
Security indicator light
This light blinks when the ignition switch is
placed in the OFF, LOCK or ACC position.
The blinking security indicator light indi-
cates that the security systems equipped
on the vehicle are operational.

Slip indicator light
This indicator will blink when the Vehicle
Dynamic Control (VDC) system is operat-
ing, thus alerting that the vehicle is nearing
its traction limits. The road surface may be
slippery.
Turn signal/hazard
indicator lights
The appropriate light flashes when the turn
signal switch is activated.
Both lights flash when the hazard switch is
turned on.

While the VDC system is operating, you
might feel a slight vibration or hear the sys-
tem working when starting the vehicle or
accelerating, but this is normal.
AUDIBLE REMINDERS
Brake pad wear warning
The disc brake pads have audible wear
warnings. When a disc brake pad requires
replacement, it makes a high pitched
scraping sound when the vehicle is in mo-
tion, whether or not the brake pedal is de-
pressed. Have the brakes checked as soon
as possible if the warning sound is heard.
Key reminder chime
A chime sounds if the door is
opened while the key is lef t in the ignition
switch. Remove the key and take it with you
when leaving the vehicle.
Light reminder chime
With the ignition switch placed in the OFF
position, a chime sounds when the
door is opened if the headlights or parking
lights are on.
Turn the headlight control switch off before
leaving the vehicle.
Parking brake reminder chime
A chime sounds if the parking brake is set
and the vehicle is driven. The chime will
stop if the parking brake is released or the
vehicle speed returns to zero.
VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM
The vehicle security system provides visual
and audible alarm signals if someone
opens the doors when the system is
armed. It is not, however, a motion
detection-type system that activates
when a vehicle is moved or when a vibra-
tion occurs.
The system helps deter vehicle thef t but
cannot prevent it, nor can it prevent the
thef t of interior or exterior vehicle compo-
nents in all situations. Always secure your
vehicle even if parking for a brief period.
Never leave your keys in the ignition, and
always lock the vehicle when unattended.
Be aware of your surroundings, and park in
secure, well-lit areas whenever possible.
Many devices offering additional protec-
tion, such as component locks, identifica-
tion markers, and tracking systems, are
available at auto supply stores and spe-
cialty shops. A NISSAN dealer may also offer
such equipment. Check with your insur-
ance company to see if you may be eligible
for discounts for various thef t protection
features.

WARNING
There are some small distances imme-
diately before the closed position which
cannot be detected. Make sure that all
passengers have their hands, etc., in-
side the vehicle before closing the
window.
If the vehicle’s battery is disconnected, re-
placed, or jump started, the power window
auto-reverse function may not operate
properly. If this occurs, have the power win-
dow auto-reverse system re-initialized. It is
recommended that you visit a NISSAN
dealer for this service.
If the control unit detects something
caught in a window equipped with auto-
matic operation as it is closing, the window
will be immediately lowered.
When power window switch does
not operate
If the power window automatic function
(closing only) does not operate properly,perform the following procedure to initial-
ize the power window system:
1. Place the ignition switch in the ON po-
sition.
2. Open the window more than half way
by operating the power window switch.
3. Pull the power window switch and hold
it to close the window, and then hold
the switch more than 3 seconds af ter
the window is closed.
4. Release the power window switch. Op-
erate the window by the automatic
function to confirm the initialization is
complete. The power window auto-
matically opens or closes depending
on if the automatic down or up func-
tion is selected.
5. Perform steps 2 through 4 above for
other windows.
If the power window function does not op-
erate properly af ter performing the above
procedure have the system checked and
repaired. It is recommended that you visit a
NISSAN dealer for this service.The interior light has a three-position
switch and operates regardless of ignition
switch position.
When the switch is in the ON position

the light illuminates, regardless of door po-
sition. The light will go off af ter a period of
time unless the ignition switch is placed in
the ACC or ON position.

INTERIOR LIGHTS

CAUTION
 Do not use a fuel containing more
than 15% ethanol in your vehicle. For

this manual. Failure to tighten the fuel-filler cap
properly may cause the
Mal-
function Indicator Light (MIL) to illumi-
nate. If the
light illuminates be-
cause the fuel-filler cap is loose or
missing, tighten or install the cap and
continue to drive the vehicle.
The
light should turn off af ter a

 The LOOSE FUEL CAP warning mes-
sage will be displayed if the fuel-filler
cap is not properly tightened. It may
take a few driving trips for the mes-
sage to be displayed. Failure to
tighten the fuel-filler cap properly af-
ter the LOOSE FUEL CAP warning mes-
sage is displayed may cause the
Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) to
illuminate.

flush it away with water to avoid paint

Audio main operation
ON-OFF button / VOL (volume) control

Place the ignition switch in the ACC or ON
position and press the ON-OFF button
while the system is off to call up the mode
(radio, CD, AUX, Bluetooth® audio USB or
iPod®) that was playing immediately before
the system was turned off.
To turn the system off, press the ON-OFF
button.

The signal strength, activation status and
other information are displayed on the

FM/AM/SAT radio operation
FM·AM button
Press the FM·AM button to change the
band as follows:
AM→FM1→FM2→AM
If another audio source is playing when the
FM·AM button is pressed, the audio source
playing will automatically be turned off and
the last radio station played will begin play-
ing.
The FM stereo indicator (ST) is shown on
the screen during FM stereo reception.
When the stereo broadcast signal is weak,
the radio automatically changes from ste-
reo to monaural reception.SXM band select
Pressing the SXM button will change the
band as follows:
SXM1*→SXM2*→SXM3*→SXM1* (satellite, if
so equipped)
When the SXM button is pressed while the
ignition switch is in the ACC or ON position,
the radio will come on at the last station
played.
The last station played will also come on
when the ON-OFF button is pressed.
*When the SXM button is pressed, the sat-
ellite radio mode will be skipped unless an
optional satellite receiver and antenna are
installed and a SiriusXM® Satellite Radio
service subscription is active. Satellite radio
is not available in Alaska, Hawaii and Guam.
If a compact disc is playing when the SXM
button is pressed, the compact disc will
automatically be turned off and the last
radio station played will come on.
While the radio is in SXM mode, the opera-
tion can be controlled through the touch-
screen. Touch the “Channels” key to display
a list of channels. Touch a channel dis-
played on the list to change to that chan-
nel. Touch the “Categories” key to display alist of categories. Touch a category dis-
played on the list to display options within
that category.
Tuning with the touch-screen
When in AM or FM mode, the radio can be
tuned using the touch-screen. To bring up
the visual tuner, touch the “Tune” key on the
lower right corner of the screen. A screen
appears with a bar running from low fre-
quencies on the lef t to high frequencies on
the right. Touch the screen at the location
of the frequency you wish to tune and the
station will change to that frequency. To
return to the regular radio display screen,
touch the “OK” key.
Tuning with the TUNE control knob
The radio can also be manually tuned us-
ing the TUNE knob. When in FM or AM mode,
turn the TUNE knob to the lef t for lower
frequencies or to the right for higher fre-
quencies. When in SXM mode, turn the
TUNE knob to change the channel.

Use the overdrive OFF mode when you
need improved engine braking.
To turn off the overdrive OFF mode, push
the O/D OFF switch again. The
indi-
cator light will turn off.Each time the engine is started, or when
the shif t lever is shif ted to any position
other than D (Drive), the overdrive OFF
mode will be automatically turned off.
Accelerator downshif t
„ in D (Drive) position „
For passing or hill climbing, depress the
accelerator pedal to the floor. This shif ts
the transmission down into a lower gear,
depending on the vehicle speed.
High fluid temperature protection
mode
This transmission has a high fluid tem-
perature protection mode. If the fluid tem-
perature becomes too high (for example,
when climbing steep grades in high tem-
peratures with heavy loads, such as when
towing a trailer), engine power and, under
some conditions, vehicle speed will be de-
creased automatically to reduce the
chance of transmission damage. Vehicle
speed can be controlled with the accelera-
tor pedal, but the engine and vehicle speed
may be limited.
Fail-safe
When the fail-safe operation occurs, the
Continuously Variable Transmission will
not be shif ted into the selected driving po-
sition.
If the vehicle is driven under extreme
conditions, such as excessive wheel
spinning and subsequent hard braking,
the fail-safe system may be activated.
The Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL)
may come on to indicate the fail-safe
mode is activated. For additional infor-
mation, refer to “Malfunction Indicator
Light (MIL)” in the “Instruments and con-
trols” section of this manual. This will oc-
cur even if all electrical circuits are func-
tioning properly. In this case, place the
ignition switch in the OFF position and
wait for 10 seconds. Then place the igni-
tion switch back in the ON position. The
vehicle should return to its normal oper-
ating condition. If it does not return to its
normal operating condition, have the
transmission checked and repaired, if
necessary. It is recommended that you
visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.
