The windshield wiper
and washer can be
operated with the ignition switch or the oper- ation mode is in ON or ACC. If the blades are frozen to the windshield, donot operate the wipers
until the ice has melted
and the blades are free
d, otherwise the wiper
motor may be damaged.
NOTE
If the headlights are sw
itched to high beam,
the front fog lights will go out; they will illu-minate again when the headlights areswitched back to low beam. If the light switch is rotated to the “OFF” or “ ” position while the
front fog lights are
illuminated, they will automatically turn off. They can be turned back on again by rotatingthe combination headlights and dimmer switch back to “ ” position, and turning the knob in the direction of the “ON” posi- tion. Do not use fog lights ex
cept in conditions of
fog, otherwise excessive light glare maytemporarily blind oncoming vehicle drivers.

CAUTION If the washer is used
in cold weather, the
washer fluid sprayed against the glass may freeze, which may hinder visibility. Warm the glass with the defroster before using thewasher.

With the lever in the “INT” (speed sensitive intermittent operation) position, the intermit-tent intervals can be adjusted by turning the knob (A).
The misting function can be used when the ignition switch or th
e operation mode is in
ON or ACC. The wipers will operate once if the wiper lever is raised to the “MIST” position and released. This operation
is useful when it is
drizzling, etc. The wi
pers will continue to
operate while the lever is held in the “MIST” position.
The windshield wipers can be operated with the ignition switch or
the operation mode is in
ON or ACC. If the blades are frozen to the windshield orrear window, do not operate the wipers until the ice has melted and the blades are freed, otherwise the wiper mo
tor may be damaged.

The electric rear window defogger switch can be operated when the engine is running.
NOTE
The rear window wipe
r will automatically
perform several conti
nuous operations if the
selector lever is put in the “R” position whilethe windshield wipers
or the rear window
wiper is operating.(a
utomatic operation
mode)After the automatic operation, the rear win- dow wiper will stop operating if the knob is in the “OFF” position. If the knob is in the“INT” position, the re
ar window wiper will
return to the intermittent operation. It is possible to set the rear window wiper toperform the automatic operation only if the selector lever is put in the “R” position while the rear window wiper
is operating with the
knob in the “INT” position. See your authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer for details. If the knob is in the “OFF” position, turn the knob to the “INT” position twice quickly tooperate the rear window
wiper continuously.
(continuous ope
ration mode)
Turn the knob to the “OFF” position to stopthe rear window wipe
r continuous operation.
The wiper intermittent
operation time can be
adjusted. See your authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer for details. For vehicles equipped with the Smartphone Link Display Audio, adjustments can be made using screen ope
rations. For further
details, refer to the se
parate owner’s manual.
The washer fluid reservoir is located in the engine compartment.Check the fluid level re
gularly and refill if
necessary. (Refer to
“Washer fluid” on page
9-13.)
Precautions to observe when using wipers and washers
CAUTION If the washer is used
in cold weather, the
washer fluid sprayed onto the glass mightfreeze, blocking your vi
ew. Heat the glass
with the defroster befo
re using the washer.
NOTE
Do not use the wipers when the windshield is dry. This could scratch the glass and wear the wiper blades prematurely. Before using the wipe
rs in cold weather,
check to be sure that the wiper blades are notfrozen to the windshield or rear window. Using the wipers while the blades are frozen could cause the wiper motor to burn out.NOTE
If the moving wipers be
come blocked part-
way through a sweep by ic
e or other deposits
on the glass, the wipers may temporarily stopoperating to prevent the motor from over- heating. In this case, park the vehicle in a safe place, turn the ignition switch to the“OFF” position or put the operation mode in OFF, and then remove
the ice or other depos-
its.Because the wipers will start operating again after the wiper motor cools down, check that the wipers operate
before using them.
Avoid using the washer for more than 20 sec- onds at a time. Do not operate the washerwhen the washer fluid reservoir is empty or the pump may fail. During cold weather, add a recommended washer solution that will not freeze in the washer fluid reservoir. Otherwise the washermay not work or may be damaged. Replace the wiper blades when they are worn. Use the proper size replacement blades. For further info
rmation, please con-
tact your authorized
Mitsubishi Motors
dealer.

To check the brake pedal free play (A), turn off the engine and press the brake pedal sev- eral times with your
foot. Then press the
pedal down with your fingers until you first feel resistance. Brake pedal free play: .1 to .3 inch (3 to 8 mm)
If the free play is not within these limits, take your vehicle to an authorized MitsubishiMotors dealer or a repair facility of your choice for adjustment.

Check the parking brake lever travel occa-sionally. To check this, pull the lever up slowly and count the number of clicks of the ratchet. Parking brake lever stroke: 5 to 7 notches (clicks)(Parking brake adjustme
nt when pulled with
the force of 200 N) Also check to see if the lever stays gripped bythe ratchet after pulling.
N00940700138
Check the wiper blades occasionally. Cleanthem regularly to rem
ove deposits of salt and
road film. Use a sponge or cloth and a mild detergent or non-abrasive cleaner to clean theblades and glass areas. Replace the blades if they continue to streak or smear. If the blades are frozen to the windshield or rear window, do not operate the wipers untilthe ice has melted and the blades are freed, otherwise the wiper mo
tor may be damaged.
Tire chains
CAUTIONTire chains cannot be used on your vehicle. The clearance between the chains and thebody is not sufficient
to allow proper clear-
ance, and the vehicle body might be dam- aged.

To prevent spots and corrosion of chrome parts, wash with water, dry thoroughly, and apply a nonabrasive automotive wax. If thechrome is severely damaged or pitted, use a commercially available chrome polish.
N00946501252
1. Remove dirt using a wet sponge. 2. Use a mild detergent
on any dirt that can-
not be removed easily with water. Rinse off the detergent after washing the wheel.3. Dry the wheel thoroughly using a chamois leather or a soft cloth.
N00946600054
The window glass can usually be cleanedusing only a sponge and
water. Glass cleaner
can be used to remove
wax, oil, grease, dead
insects, etc. After washing the glass, wipe it dry with a clean, dry, soft cloth.

Use a soft cloth and gl
ass cleaner to remove
grease, dead insects, etc., from the wiperblades. Replace the wiper blades
when they no longer
clean the windshield a
nd rear window prop-
erly.

Clean the inside of the sunroof with a soft cloth. Hard deposits
should be wiped away
with a cloth dipped in
warm, neutral deter-
gent solution. Wipe away the solution with a sponge dipped in fresh water.
N00947000071
Never spray or splash
water on the electrical
accessories in the engine compartment. This puts the engine at ri
sk of being damaged.
Do not bring the circum
ferential parts, the
plastic parts and so on in
to contact with sulfu-
ric acid (battery electrolyte) which maycrack, stain or discolor them. If they are in contact, wipe off with soft cloth, chamois or the like and an aqueous solutionof neutral detergent then immediately rinse the affected parts with plenty of water.
Chrome parts Aluminum wheels
CAUTION Do not use a brush or other hard implement on the wheels. Do not use any cleaner that contains an abra- sive substance or is ac
idic or alkaline. Doing
so could cause the co
ating on the wheels to
peel or become disc
olored or stained.
Do not directly apply
hot water using a steam
cleaner or by any other means. Contact with seawater or road salt used for de-icing can cause corr
osion. Rinse off such
substances as soon as possible.
