If you operate the roof switch and theTrunk Partition OpenTrunk Partition Openmessage appearsin the multifunction display, the trunk parti-tion is not closed correctly.
XClose the trunk partition.
XTo close:press and hold soft-top switchCuntil the soft top is fully closed.TheVario-Roof in OperationVario-Roof in Operationmessageappears in the multifunction display. Oncethe opening procedure is complete, themessage disappears and a tone sounds.
All of the side windows open.
XTo close all side windows, pull the switchunder the cover of the center console(Ypage 76).

GWARNING
When opening or closing the roof, body
parts could be trapped by, for example, the
roof mechanism, trunk lid or side windows.
There is a risk of injury.
When raising or lowering the roof, make
sure that no body parts are in the vicinity of
moving components. If someone becomes
trapped, release the button.
Opening and closing
This function is only available on vehicles withKEYLESS-GO or with roof comfort operation.
XClose the trunk lid (Ypage 73).
XVehicles with comfort operation:pointthe tip of the SmartKey at the driver's doorhandle.
XVehicles with KEYLESS-GO:the SmartKeymust be within 6 ft (2 m) of the vehicle.
XTo open:press and hold the6button onthe SmartKey until the roof is fully opened.The roof and the rear side windows open.The front side windows close.
XTo interrupt the opening procedure:release the6button.
XTo open the front side windows:press the6button on the SmartKey again.
XTo close:press and hold the7buttonon the SmartKey until the roof is fullyclosed.The roof and the side windows close.
XTo interrupt the closing procedure:release the7button.
Locking the roof again
Important safety notes
GWARNING
If you do not fully open/close the soft top,
the soft-top hydraulics depressurize after a
short time. This causes the soft top to lower
unexpectedly and may cause you or others
to be trapped. There is a risk of injury.
Always open or close the soft top com-
pletely.
The roof is not locked if:

Backing up into the parking space

XStop as soon as you hear a warning tone.The vehicle has reached the position inwhich you need to countersteer.

You may be asked tosteer in a different direction and thenchange gear. In this case, further displays inthe multifunction display will direct you tothe final position.

Canceling Parking Guidance
XPress the Parking Assist PARKTRONIC but-ton on the center console (Ypage 155).Parking Guidance is immediately canceledand Parking Assist PARKTRONIC is switchedoff.
Parking Guidance is canceled automatically ifit is no longer possible to guide you into theparking space, or if a malfunction occurs.
The parking space symbol goes out and awarning tone sounds.

Rthe PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator lamp must then lightup and remain lit after the self-diagnosis. If the indicator lampis on, OCS has disabled the front-passenger front air bag andfront-passenger knee bag (Ypage 46)

If these conditions are fulfilled, the front-passenger seat can beoccupied again. Whether the PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF or ON indi-cator lamp remains lit or goes out depends on how OCS classifiesthe occupant.
If the conditions are not fulfilled, the system is not operating cor-rectly.
XVisit a qualified specialist workshop immediately.

Overview
General notes
!Do not use the space in front of the dis-play for storage. Objects placed here coulddamage the display or impair its function.Avoid any direct contact with the displaysurface. Pressure on the display surfacemay result in impairments to the display,which could be irreversible.
Wearing polarized sunglasses may impair yourability to read the display.
The display has an automatic temperature-controlled switch-off feature. The brightness isautomatically reduced if the temperature istoo high. The display may temporarily switchoff completely.
Cleaning instructions
!Do not touch the display. The display has avery sensitive high-gloss surface; there is arisk of scratching. If you have to clean thescreen, however, use a mild cleaning agentand a soft, lint-free cloth.
The display must be switched off and havecooled down before you start cleaning. Do notapply pressure to the display surface whencleaning it, as this could cause irreversibledamage to the display.

switch the media source or set the volume,the sound is automatically switched on.

!Do not expose drinks bottles in the cupholder in the center console to continuous,strong and direct sunlight. The passengercompartment in the area of the center con-sole can otherwise be damaged by the con-centrated and reflected sunlight.
Cup holder in the center console
XTo open:slide coverDback.
XTo remove the insert:slide catchCinwards on both sides in the direction of thearrow.
XRemove the cup holder insert upwards.
XTo re-install the insert:place the insert inthe stowage space.
XSlide catchCoutwards in the direction ofthe arrow until it engages.
You can remove the cup holder insert forcleaning. Clean with clear, lukewarm wateronly.
Bottle holder
Observe the "Important safety notes" in the"Stowage compartments" section(Ypage 225).
!Make sure that any bottles weighing morethan 1.1 lb(0.5 kg) that are stored in thebottle holder, rest on the vehicle floor. Thebottle holder could otherwise be damaged.
XPress the outer edge of buttonCand slidein the direction of the arrow until the bottlefits into the opening.
XInsert the bottle into the bottle holder.
The bottle holder is suitable for bottles with acapacity of 25 fl. oz. (0.7 l) to 54 fl. oz. (1.5 l).
The bottle holder does not secure the bottles;it merely prevents them from tipping over.
