The pa rking lights, low beam and daytime run‐
ning la mps are switched on automatically
depending on the ignition status and the ambi‐
ent light. &
WARNING Risk of accident when the low
beam is switched off in poor visibility
When the light switch is set to0058 ,th e low
beam may not be switched on automatically
if th ere is fog, snow or other causes of poor
visibility such as spr ay.#
In such cases, turn the light switch to
0058 . The automatic driving lights are only an aid.

Cornering light
Cornering light function
The cornering light impr
ovesth e illumination of
th ero adw ayove r a wide angle in the turning
direction, enabling better visibility on tight
bends, forex ample. It can be activated on ly
when the low beam is switched on.
The function is active in thefo llowing cases:
R at speeds below 25 mph (4 0 km/h) when the
turn signal indica tor is switched on or the
st eering wheel is turned R
at speeds between 25 mph (4 0 km/h) and
45 mph (70 km/h) when thesteering wheel

Ad aptive Highbeam Assist does not recog‐
nize thefo llowing road users:
R Road users without lights, e.g. pedes‐
trians
R Road users with poor lighting, e.g.
cyclists
R Road users whose lighting is obstructed,
e.g. bya bar rier
On very rare occasions, Adaptive Highbeam
Assist may failto recognize other road users
with their own lighting, or may recognize
th em too late. In
these or similar situations, the automatic
high beam is not deactivated or is activated
despite the presence of other road users. #
Alw ays obser vethe tra ffic carefully and
switch off the high beam in good time. Ad
aptive Highbeam Assist cannot take into
account road, weather or traf fic conditions.
De tection may be restricted in thefo llowing
cases:
R in poor visibilit y,e.g. fog, heavy rain or snow
R ifth ere is dirt on the sensors or the sensors
are obscured
Ad aptive Highbeam Assist is on lyan aid. You are
re sponsible for adju sting theve hicle's lighting to
th e pr evailing light, visibility and traf fic condi‐

Adaptive Highbeam Assist automatically
swit ches between thefo llowing types of light:
R Low-beam headlamps
R High-beam headlamps
At speeds abo ve19 mp h (3 0 km/h):
R If no other road users are de tected, the high
beam is switched on automaticall y.The high beam switches off automatically:
R Atspeeds below 16mp h (25 km/h).
R Ifot her road users are de tected.
R Ifstre et lighting is suf ficient.
At speeds abo veappr oximately 31mph
(50 km/h):
R The headlamp range of the low beam is regu‐
lated automatically based on the dis tance to
ot her road users.
The sy stem's optical sensor is located behind
th e windshield near theov erhead control panel.

The pedestrian symbol in the assis tance graphic
indica testh est atus of the spotlight function. If
th e pedestrian symbol is displa yed dark 1,the
function is switched on. If the symbol is dis‐ pla
yed bright 2,the conditions forth e Spotlight
function are also fulfilled.
Sy stem limitations
The spotlight function does not flash at animals.
The spotlight function is not active or is active
on lyto a limited extent if:
R You are driving in city traf fic.
R The pedestrians are loca ted in the area of an
oncoming vehicle or a vehicle in front.
Ac tivating/deactivating the spotlight func‐
