front passen gerThe
ü seat belt warning lamp in the instru‐
ment display is a reminder that all vehicle occu‐
pants must weartheir seat belts cor rectly.
In addition, a warning tone may sound.
As soon as the driver and front passenger fasten
th eir seat belts, the seat belt warning goes out. Fu
nction of there ar seat belt status display The
rear seat belt status display is on lyavailable
fo r cer tain countries. The
rear seat belt status display informs you
which rear seat belt is not fastened.
Yo u can immediately dismiss there ar seat belt
st atus display using the back button on the left-
hand side of thesteering wheel (/ page 320).
If a vehicle occupant unfas tens a seat belt in the
re ar while theve hicle is motion, there ar seat
belt status display appears again.
In addition, an acoustic warning tone may sound.
In this case, there ar seat belt status display cannot be hidden using
the back button on the
left-hand side of thesteering wheel. Airbags

lamp is lit
If th ePA SSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator
lamp remains lit af terth e sy stem self-test,
th e front passenger airbag is disabled. It will
not be deplo yed in theeve nt of an accident.
In this case, the front passenger airbag can‐
not per form its intended pr otective function,
e.g. when a person is seated in the front
passenger seat.
That person could, forex ample, come into
con tact wi th theve hicle interior, especially if
th e person is sitting too close tothe cockpit.
If th e front passenger seat is occupied,
alw ays ensure that:
R The classification of the person in the
front passenger seat is cor rect and the
front passenger airbag is enabled or disa‐
bled in accordance with the person in the
front passenger seat. R
The person is sea ted proper lywith a cor‐
re ctly fastened seat belt.
R The front passenger seat has been mo ved
as far back as possible. Be sure
toalso obse rveth efo llowing fur ther
re lated subjects:
R Child restra int sy stem on the front passenger

when adjusting the seats
When you adjust a seat, you or other vehicle
occupants could become trapped, e.g. on the
seat guide rail. #
When adjusting a seat, make sure that
no one has any body parts in the sweep
of the seat. Obser

WARNING Risk of inju rythro ugh adjust‐
ing vehicle settings while theve hicle is in
motion
Yo u could lose cont rol of theve hicle in the
fo llowing situations:
R ifyo u adjust the driver's seat, the head
re stra ints, thesteering wheel or the mir‐
ro r while theve hicle is in motion
R ifyo ufast enyour seat belt while theve hi‐
cle is in motion #
Before starting the engine: adjust the
driver's seat, the head restra ints, the
st eering wheel or the mir ror and fasten
yo ur seat belt. &
WARNING Risk of becoming trapped if
th e seat height is adjus ted carelessly
If yo u adjust the seat height carelessly, you
or other vehicle occupants could be trapped
and thereby injured.
Children in particular could acciden tally
press the electrical seat adjustment buttons
and become trapped. #
While moving the seats, make sure that
hands or other body parts do not get
under the le ver assembly of the seat
adjustment sy stem. &
WARNING Risk of inju rydue tohead

adjus ted inco rrectly
If head restra ints are not fitted or are adjus‐
te d incor rectl y,they cannot pr ovide pr otec‐
tion as intended.
There is an increased risk of injury in the
head and neck area, e.g. in theeve nt of an

When the indicator lamp lights up, the front
passenger seat is selected. #
Adjust the front passenger seat using the
buttons on the door control panel on the
driver's side. #
Select the driver's seat: Pressthe1 but‐
to n again.
When the indicator lamp goes out, the driv‐
er's seat has been selected. Ad

Toselect the front passenger seat: press
button 1.
When the indicator lamp lights up, the front
passenger seat is selected. #
Adjust the front passenger seat using the
buttons on the door control panel in there ar

Selecting a profile may trigger an adju stment
of the driver's seat tothe position sa ved
under the profile. You or other vehicle occu‐
pants could be injured in the process. #
Make sure that when the position of
driver's seat is being adjus ted using the
multimedia sy stem, no people or body
parts are in the seat's range of mo ve‐
ment.
If th ere is a risk of someone becoming trap‐
ped, stop the adjustment process immedi‐
ately: #
a)Tapth ewa rning message on the
media displa y.
or #
b) Press a memory position button or a
seat adjustment switch on the driver's
door.
The adjustment process is stopped. Re
quirements for adjusting the driver's seat
and steering wheel position tobody size:

When the active user profile is changed while
th eve hicle is stationar y,the driver's seat, steer‐
ing wheel, outside mir rors and seat con tour will
automatically be adap tedto the driver. #
Select OnorOff.
% This setting is available on lyfor individual
user profiles. Forth e guest profile, auto‐
matic seat adjustment cann otbe switched

justing driver's seat and steering wheel
position tobody size
The vehicle calculates a suitable driver's seat
and steering wheel position on the basis of the
driver's body size and sets this immediatel y. #
Select Seat positioning . #
Toset the unit of measurement: select cm
or ft/in. #
Set the size using the scale. #
Select Start positioning.
The driver's seat and steering wheel position
is adjus tedto the body size that has been
set.
% Ifth e driver's seat and steering wheel posi‐
tion calculated bytheve hicle is not practical
or comfor table, it can be manually changed
at any time via the control buttons.
The outside mir rors are not set via this func‐
tion. Ins tead, they have tobe set manually
