is not pulled tight across your body, the seat belt
adjustment may automatically apply a cer tain
tigh tening forc e. Do not hold the seat belt tightly
while it is adjusting.
Yo u can activate and deactivate the seat belt
adjustment function using the multimedia sys‐
te m (/ page 40). Re

front passen ger The
ü seat belt warning lamp in the instru‐
ment display is a reminder that all vehicle occu‐
pants must weartheir seat belts cor rectly.
In addition, a warning tone may sound.
As soon as the driver and front passenger fasten
th eir seat belts, the seat belt warning goes out. Fu
nction of there ar seat belt status display The
rear seat belt status display is on lyavailable
fo r cer tain countries. The
rear seat belt status display informs you
which rear seat belt is not fastened.
Yo u can immediately dismiss there ar seat belt
st atus display using the back button on the left-
hand side of thesteering wheel (/ page 260).
If a vehicle occupant unfas tens a seat belt in the
re ar while theve hicle is motion, there ar seat
belt status display appears again.
In addition, an acoustic warning tone may sound.
In this case, there ar seat belt status display
cannot be hidden using the back button on the
left-hand side of thesteering wheel. 40

Alw ays ensure that the front passenger air‐
bag is disabled. The PASSENGER AIR BAG
OFF indicator lamp must be lit.
NEVER use a rear wa rd-facing child restra int
sy stem on a seat pr otected byan ENABLED
FRONT AIRB AGin front of it, DE ATH or SERI‐
OUS INJU RYtotheCH ILD can occur. When
fitting a child restra int sy stem tothe front
passenger seat, obser vetheve hicle-specific
information (/ page71).
Depending on thech ild restra int sy stem and the
st ature of thech ild, thePA SSENGER AIR BAG
OFF indicator lamp may be off. In this case, do
not fit th ere ar wa rd-facing child restra int sy stem
to the front passenger seat.
Ins tead, fit th ere ar wa rd-facing child restra int
sy stem toa suitable rear seat.
Af terfitting a forw ard-facing child restra int
sy stem tothe front passenger seat: depend‐
ing on thech ild restra int sy stem and thest ature of
thech ild, PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF may be lit
continuously or be off. Alw ays obser vethefo l‐
lowing information. &

If yo u secure a child in a forw ard-facing child
re stra int sy stem on the front passenger seat
and you position the front passenger seat too
close tothe dashboard, in theev ent of an

as far back as possible and fully retract
th e seat cushion length adjustment.
Alw ays make sure that the shoulder belt
st ra p is cor rectly routed from the seat
belt outlet on theve hicle tothe shoul‐
der belt guide on thech ild restra int sys‐ te
m. The shoulder belt stra p must be
ro uted forw ards and down wards from
th e seat belt outlet. If necessar y,adjust
th e front passenger seat according ly. #
Alw ays obser vethech ild restra int sys‐
te m manufacturer's ins tallation instruc‐
tions. When
fitting a child restra int sy stem tothe front
passenger seat, obser vetheve hicle-specific
information (/ page71).
If a person is sitting on the front passenger
seat: PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF may be lit con‐
tinuously or be off, depending on the person's
st ature.
A person on the front passenger seat must
alw ays obser vethefo llowing information:
R Ifth e front passenger seat is occupied byan
adult or a person with a stature cor respond‐
ing tothat of an adult, thePA SSENGER AIR
BA G OFF indicator lamp must be off. This

occupants. These measures cannot necessarily
pr eve nt an imminent impact.
PRE-SAFE ®
PLUS can implement thefo llowing
measures independently of each other:
R Tightening the seat belts on the driver's seat
and front passenger seat.
R Activating there ar hazard warning lights at a
higher flashing frequenc y.
R Increasing brake pressure when theve hicle
is stationar y.This brake application is cancel‐
led automatically when theve hicle pulls
aw ay. If an accident did not occur,
the pre-em ptive
measures that we retake n are reve rsed.
Sy stem limitations
The sy stem will not initiate any action in thefo l‐
lowing situations:
R when reve rsing
or
R when theve hicle is towing a trailer and there
is a risk of a rear impact
The sy stem will not initiate any braking applica‐
tion in thefo llowing situations:
R whilst driving
or
R when entering or exiting a parking space

Press the seat adjustment switch.

th eke y with you and lock theve hicle.
This also applies tothe Digital Vehicle
Ke y if the "Digital Vehicle Key" function
is activated via Mercedes me connect. Yo
u can stop the adjustment process bypress‐
ing one of the memory function position

WARNING Risk of becoming trapped

If ch ildren activate the easy entry andexit
fe ature, they can become trapped, pa rticu‐
lar lywhen unat tended. #
Never lea vechildren unat tended in the
ve hicle. #
When leaving theve hicle, alw aysta ke
th eke y with you and lock theve hicle. This also applies
tothe Digital Vehicle Key if the
"Digital Vehicle Key" function is activated via
Mercedes me connect.
When the easy entry andexitfeature is active,
th e driver's seat will mo vebackwards and the
backrest will be mo vedto ast eeper position
when:
R you swit ch the ignition off with the driver's
door open
R you open the driver's door with the ignition
switched off %
The driver's seat will mo vebackwards only if
it is not already in there armost position.
The seat backrest will mo veforw ards on lyif
it is not already in the frontmost position.
The driver's seat will mo veback tothe last drive
position when:
R you swit ch the ignition on with the driver's
door closed
R you close the driver's door with the ignition
switched on
The last drive position will be stored when:
R you swit chthe ignition off
R you call up the seat settings via the memory
function
