ADJUSTING THE HEADLAMPS
Vertical Aim Adjustment
The headlamps on your vehicle are properlyaimed at the assembly plant. If your vehiclehas been in an accident, the alignment ofyour headlamps should be checked by yourauthorized dealer.

Vertical Aim Adjustment Procedure
1.Park the vehicle directly in front of a wallor screen on a level surface,approximately 25 ft (7.6 m) away.
2.Measure the height of the headlamp bulbcenter from the ground and mark an 8 ft(2.4 m) horizontal reference line on thevertical wall or screen at this height.
Note:To see a clearer light pattern foradjusting, you may want to block the lightfrom one headlamp while adjusting theother.
3. Turn on the low beam headlamps toilluminate the wall or screen and openthe hood.
4.On the wall or screen you will observe aflat zone of high intensity light located atthe top of the right hand portion of thebeam pattern. If the top edge of the highintensity light zone is not at the horizontalreference line, the headlamp will needto be adjusted.

5. Locate the vertical adjuster on eachheadlamp. Using a Phillips #2screwdriver, turn the adjuster eitherclockwise or counterclockwise in orderto adjust the vertical aim of theheadlamp. The horizontal edge of thebrighter light should touch the horizontalreference line.
6. Close the hood and turn off the lamps.
Horizontal Aim Adjustment
The horizontal aim does not require anyadjustment for this vehicle. If a fault occurs,have the system checked by an authorizeddealer.

CHANGING THE ENGINE AIR
FILTER
WARNING: To reduce the risk ofvehicle damage and/or personal burn injuriesdo not start your engine with the air cleanerremoved and do not remove it while theengine is running.
When changing the air filter element, useonly the air filter element listed. SeeCapacities and Specifications (page 353).
Change the air filter element at the properinterval. See Scheduled Maintenance (page486).
Note:Failure to use the correct air filterelement may result in severe enginedamage. The customer warranty may bevoid for any damage to the engine if thecorrect air filter element is not used.
1. Loosen the 5 bolts on the air cleanercover.
2. Remove the air cleaner cover.
3.Remove the engine air filter element fromthe engine air cleaner assembly.
4. Wipe any dirt or debris from the air filterhousing and cover to make sure no dirtgets in the engine and to make sure youhave a good seal.

CLEANING THE EXTERIOR
Wash your vehicle regularly with cool orlukewarm water and a neutral pH shampoo,we recommend Motorcraft Detail Wash.
•Never use strong household detergentsor soap, for example dish washing orlaundry liquid. These products candiscolor and spot painted surfaces.
•Never wash your vehicle when it is hotto the touch, or during strong or directsunlight.
•Dry your vehicle with a chamois or softterry cloth towel to eliminate waterspotting.
•Immediately remove fuel spillages, birddroppings, insect deposits and road tar.These may cause damage to yourvehicle’s paintwork or trim over time. Werecommend Motorcraft Bug and TarRemover.
•Remove any exterior accessories, forexample antennas, before entering a carwash.
•When filling with AdBlue®, remove anyresidue on painted surfaces immediately.
Note:Suntan lotions and insect repellentscan damage painted surfaces. If thesesubstances come in contact with yourvehicle, wash the affected area as soon aspossible.
Cleaning the Headlamps
Note:Do not scrape the headlamp lensesor use abrasives, alcoholic solvents orchemical solvents to clean them.
Note:Do not wipe the headlamps when theyare dry.

BULB SPECIFICATION CHART
Replacement bulbs are specified in the chartbelow. Headlamp bulbs must be marked withan authorized “D.O.T.” for North America tomake sure they have the proper lampperformance, light brightness, light pattern,and safe visibility. The correct bulbs will notdamage the lamp assembly or void the lampassembly warranty and will provide qualitybulb illumination time.
