During a crash of sufficient force, theinflatable belt inflates from inside thewebbing.
The fully inflated belt's increased diametermore effectively holds the occupant in theappropriate seating position, and spreadscrash forces over more area of the body thanregular seatbelts. This helps reduce pressureon the chest and helps control head andneck motion for passengers.
The rear inflatable seatbelts are designed toinflate in frontal or near-frontal crashes, someside impact crashes and rollovers. The factthat the rear inflatable seatbelt did not inflatein a crash does not mean that something iswrong with the system. Rather, it means theforces were not of the type sufficient tocause activation.
Stowing the Rear Inflatable Seatbelt
The rear inflatable seatbelt has a snapretainer for stowing the seatbelt against thequarter trim panel when it is not in use. Thisprevents the seatbelt tongue from rattlingagainst the side of the seat and keeps it outof the way when folding or tumbling thesecond row seats.
Press the retainer on the seatbelt onto themating snap to stow. To use the seatbelt,pull it away from the quarter trim panel.
SEATBELT HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT
WARNING: Position the safety beltheight adjuster so that the belt rests acrossthe middle of your shoulder. Failure toadjust the safety belt properly couldreduce the effectiveness of the safety beltand increase the risk of injury in a crash.

4. Make sure that the rear latch hooks areproperly engaged with the floor striker.
Note:Make sure that the seat and seatbackare latched securely in position. Keep floorarea free of objects that would preventproper seat engagement.
Stowing the Third Row Seat
Note:Remove all objects from the seat andstowage tub. Objects in the seat or stowagetub may cause serious damage to the seatupholstery and cause improper seat function.
1. From the rear of the vehicle, stow thehead restraints by pulling the strap onthe middle of the seatback just below thehead restraint. Then, fold the seatbackby pulling and holding the red strap whilepushing the seatback forward. Releasethe strap once the seatback startsrotating forward.
2. Release the cushion latches by pullingthe short black strap while pulling on thestrap at the top of the seatback. Thistumbles the seat all the way into the floortub.
Note:Do not use the seat anchors as cargotie downs.

Unstowing the Third Row Seat
WARNING: Make sure the seat fullylocks into place by rocking it backward andforward. Not securing the seat into thelocked position can be dangerous in acrash and could cause serious personalinjury or death.
Note:Make sure that there are no objectssuch as books, purses or brief cases on theload floor before unstowing the seat. Failureto remove all objects from the top of the loadfloor prior to unstowing it may causedamage to the seat.
Note:Make sure the area under the forwardportion of the load floor is free of objectsbefore unstowing the third row seat.
1. Unlatch and lift the seat out of the floortub by squeezing and pulling up on thehandle. Once the seat is at a verticalposition, push the seat over, letting it fallonto the latches.

WARNING: Do not sit in seats thatare rearward facing when your vehicle ismoving. This is not a correct seatingposition and the seatbelts do not properlyfunction this way. Failure to follow thisinstruction could result in personal injuryor death in a sudden stop or crash.
HEATED SEATS (If Equipped)
Front Seats
WARNING: People who are unableto feel pain to their skin because ofadvanced age, chronic illness, diabetes,spinal cord injury, medication, alcohol use,exhaustion or other physical conditions,must exercise care when using the heatedseat. The heated seat may cause burnseven at low temperatures, especially ifused for long periods of time. Do not place
anything on the seat that insulates againstheat, such as a blanket or cushion. Thismay cause the heated seat to overheat.Do not puncture the seat with pins,needles or other pointed objects. This maydamage the heating element which maycause the heated seat to overheat. Anoverheated seat may cause seriouspersonal injury.
Do not do the following:
•Place heavy objects on the seat.
•Operate the heated seat if water or anyother liquid spills on the seat. Allow theseat to dry thoroughly.
Note:You must switch the ignition on to usethis feature.

FUEL QUALITY
Choosing the Right Fuel
Your vehicle is designed to operate onregular unleaded gasoline with a minimumpump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87.
Some fuel stations, particularly those in highaltitude areas, offer fuels posted as regularunleaded gasoline with an octane ratingbelow 87. The use of these fuels could resultin engine damage that will not be coveredby the vehicle warranty.
For best overall vehicle and engineperformance, premium fuel with an octanerating of 91 or higher is recommended. Theperformance gained by using premium fuelis most noticeable in hot weather as well asother conditions, for example when towinga trailer. See Towing (page 237).
Do not be concerned if the enginesometimes knocks lightly. However, if theengine knocks heavily while using fuel withthe recommended octane rating, contact anauthorized dealer to prevent any enginedamage.
We recommend Top Tier detergentgasolines, where available to help minimizeengine deposits and maintain optimal vehicleand engine performance. For additionalinformation, refer to www.toptiergas.com.
Note:Use of any fuel for which the vehiclewas not designed can impair the emissioncontrol system, cause loss of vehicleperformance, and cause damage to theengine which may not be covered by thevehicle Warranty.
Do not use:
•Diesel fuel.
•Fuels containing kerosene or paraffin.
•Fuel containing more than 15% ethanolor E85 fuel.
•Fuels containing methanol.
•Fuels containing metallic-based additives,including manganese-based compounds.
•Fuels containing the octane boosteradditive, methylcyclopentadienylmanganese tricarbonyl (MMT).
•Leaded fuel, using leaded fuel isprohibited by law.
The use of fuels with metallic compoundssuch as methylcyclopentadienyl manganesetricarbonyl (commonly known as MMT), whichis a manganese-based fuel additive, willimpair engine performance and affect theemission control system.

SelectShift Automatic™ Transmission (If
Equipped)
Your vehicle is equipped with a SelectShiftAutomatic transmission. The SelectShiftAutomatic transmission gives you the abilityto change gears up or down (without aclutch) as desired.
In order to prevent the engine from runningat too low an RPM, which may cause it tostall, SelectShift still automatically makessome downshifts if it has determined thatyou have not downshifted in time. AlthoughSelectShift makes some downshifts for you,it still allows you to downshift at any time aslong as the SelectShift determines thatdamage will not be caused to the enginefrom over-revving.
Note:Engine damage may occur if youmaintain excessive engine revving withoutshifting.
SelectShift does not automatically upshift,even if the engine is approaching the RPMlimit. It must be shifted manually by pressingthe + button. Notice should be taken of theshift indicator lamp, which alerts you whento shift to make sure you achieve the highestlevel or efficiency and fuel economy.
If equipped with the toggle on the gearshiftlever, press the + toggle switch on the sideof the gearshift lever to activate SelectShift.
•Press the (+) button to upshift.
•Press the (-) button to downshift.
If equipped with steering wheel paddles,pull the + paddle on the steering wheel toactivate SelectShift.
•Pull the right paddle (+) to upshift.
•Pull the left paddle (–) to downshift.
SelectShift in drive (D):
•Provides a temporary manual mode forperforming more demanding maneuverswhere extra control of gear selection isrequired (for example, when towing orovertaking). This mode will hold aselected gear for a temporary period oftime dependent on driver inputs (forexample, steering or accelerator pedalinput).
