■Tire information
●Increase the tire inflation pressure to 20.0 kPa (0.2 kgf/cm2 or bar, 3 psi) greater than the recommended value when towing. ( P. 555)
●Increase the air pressure of the trailer tires in accordance with the total trailer weight
and according to the values recommended by the manufacturer of your trailer.
■Trailer lights
●Please consult any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reli-
able repairer when installing trailer lights, as incorrect installation may cause damage to the vehicle’s lights. Please take care to comply with your state’s laws when installingtrailer lights.
●Check that the turn signal lights and stoplights are operating correctly every time youhitch up the trailer. Directly wiring up to your vehicle may damage the electrical systemand stop the lights from functioning correctly.
■Break-in schedule
Lexus recommends that vehicles fitted with new power train components should not be used for towing trailers for the first 800 km (500 miles).
■Safety checks before towing
●Check that the maximum load limit for the towing hitch/bracket and hitch ball is not exceeded. Bear in mind that the coupling weight of the trailer will add to the load
exerted on the vehicle. Also make sure that the total load exerted on the vehicle is within the range of the weight limits. ( P. 211)
●Ensure that the trailer load is secure.
●Supplementary outside rear view mirrors should be added to the vehicle if the traffic behind cannot be clearly seen with standard mirrors. Adjust the extending arms ofthese mirrors on both sides of the vehicle so that they always provide maximum visibility
of the road behind.
■Maintenance
●Maintenance must be performed more frequently when using the vehicle for towing
due to the greater weight burden placed on the vehicle compared to normal driving.
●Retighten all bolts securing the hitching ball and bracket after towing for approximately 1000 km (600 miles).
NOTICE
■When the rear bumper strengthening material is aluminum
Ensure the steel bracket part does not come directly in contact with that area. When steel and aluminum come into contact, there is a reaction similar to corrosion,which will weaken the section concerned and may result in damage. Apply a rust inhib-
itor to parts that will come in co ntact when attaching a steel bracket.

Maintenance requirements
Scheduled maintenance should be performed at specified intervals according to
the maintenance schedule.
For details about maintenance items and sche dules, refer to the “Lexus Service Book- let” or “Lexus Warranty Booklet”.
What about do-it-yourself maintenance?
Many of the maintenance items are easy to do yourself if you have a little mechanicalability and a few basic automotive tools.
Note, however, that some maintenance task s require special tools and skills. These
are best performed by qualified technicians. Even if you’re an experienced do-it-your- self mechanic, we recommend that repairs and maintenance be conducted by anyauthorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authoriz ed repairer, or any reliable repairer. Any
authorized Lexus retailer or repairer will keep a record of maintenance, which could be useful should you ever require Warranty Service. Should you choose to select aqualified and equipped professional other th an an authorized Lexus repairer to ser-
vice or maintain your vehicle, we recommend that you request that a record of main- tenance be kept.
■Where to go for maintenance service?
In order to maintain your vehicle in the best possible condition, Lexus recommends that maintenance service operations as well as ot her inspections and repairs be carried out
by authorized Lexus retailers or Lexus authoriz ed repairers, or any reliable repairers. For repairs and services covered by your warranty, please visit an authorized Lexus retailer or repairer, who will use genuine Lexus parts in repairing any difficulties you may
encounter. There can also be advantages in utilizing authorized Lexus retailers or repair- ers for non-warranty repairs and services, as members of the Lexus network will be able to expertly assist you with an y difficulties you may encounter.
Your Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repair er, or any reliable repairer will perform all of the scheduled maintenance on your vehicl e reliably and economically due to their experience with Lexus vehicles.
To ensure safe and economical driving, day-to-day care and regular mainte-

Tires
Check if the treadwear indicators are show ing on the tires. Also check the tires
for uneven wear, such as excessive wear on one side of the tread.
Check the spare tire condition and pressure if not rotated.

The location of treadwear indicators is shown by the “TWI” or “ ” mark, etc., molded into the sidewall of each tire.Replace the tires if the treadwear indicators are showing on a tire.
Replace or rotate tires in accordance with maintenance schedules and tread-
wear.

Remove the air conditioning filter
from the filter case and replace it
with a new one.
The “ UP” marks shown on the filter
and the filter case should be pointing up.
■Changing interval
Inspect and replace the air conditioning filt er according to the maintenance schedule. In dusty areas or areas with heavy traffic flow, early replacement may be required. (For
scheduled maintenance information, please refer to the “Lexus Service Booklet” or “Lexus Warranty Booklet”.)
■If air flow from the vents decreases dramatically
The filter may be clogged. Check the filter and replace if necessary.
■Air conditioning filter with deodorizing function
When fragrances are placed in your vehicle, the deodorizing effect may become signifi-
cantly weakened in a short period. When an air conditioning odor comes out cont inuously, replace the air conditioning filter.

Indicates that the outside temperature is approximately
3 C (37F) or lower A buzzer also sounds. Drive carefully, as the road may be icy.
Indicates that the engine oil is scheduled to be changed  Check the engine oil and change if necessary. After changing the engine oil, the oil change system
should be reset. ( P. 406) (The indicator will not work properly unless the oilmaintenance data has been reset.)
