Press the “ON/OFF” button to acti-
vate the cruise control.
Radar cruise control indicator will come
on and a message will be displayed on the multi-information display.
Press the button again to deactivate the
cruise control.
If the “ON/OFF” button is pressed and held for 1.5 seconds or more, the system
turns on in constant speed control mode. ( P. 304)
Accelerate or decelerate, with
accelerator pedal operation, to the
desired vehicle speed (above
approximately 50 km/h [30 mph])
and push the lever down to set the
speed.
Cruise control “SET” indicator will come on.
The vehicle speed at the moment the
lever is released becomes the set speed.
If the lever is operated while the vehi cle speed is below approximately 50 km/h
(30 mph) and a preceding vehicle is present, the set speed will be adjusted to approx- imately50 km/h (30 mph).

Pressing the button changes the vehi-
cle-to-vehicle distance as follows:
Long
Medium
Short
The vehicle-to-vehicle distance is set automatically to long mode when thepower switch is turned ON mode.
If a vehicle is running ahead of you, the preceding vehicle mark will also be displayed.
Select a distance from the table below. Note that the distances shown corre-
spond to a vehicle speed of 80 km/h (50 mph). Vehicle-to-vehicle distance
increases/decreases in accordance with vehicle speed. When the vehicle is
stopped by system control, the vehicle-to-vehicle distance will be about 3 m
(10 ft.) to 5 m (16 ft.) regardless of the vehicle-to-vehicle distance setting.
After the vehicle ahead of you starts off,
push the lever up.
Your vehicle will also resume follow-up
cruising if the accelerator pedal is
depressed after the vehicle ahead of
you starts off.

Pulling the lever toward you cancels
the speed control.
The speed control is also canceled when
the brake pedal is depressed.
(When the vehicle has been stopped by system control, depressing the brake
pedal does not cancel the setting.)
Pushing the lever up resumes the
cruise control and returns vehicle
speed to the set speed.
However, when a vehicle ahead is not detected, cruise control does not resume when the vehicle speed is approximately 40 km/h (25 mph) or less.
When your vehicle is too close to a
vehicle ahead, and sufficient automatic
deceleration via the cruise control is
not possible, the display will flash and
the buzzer will sound to alert the driver.
An example of this would be if another
driver cuts in front of you while you are
following a vehicle. Depress the brake
pedal to ensure an appropriate vehicle-
to-vehicle distance.
■Warnings may not occur when
In the following instances, warnings may not occur even when the vehicle-to-
vehicle distance is small.
●When the speed of the preceding vehicle matches or exceeds your vehicle
speed
●When the preceding vehicle is traveling at an extremely slow speed
●Immediately after the cruise control speed was set
●When depressing the accelerator pedal

■Automatic cancelation of constant speed control mode
Constant speed control mode is automatica lly canceled in the following situations:
●Actual vehicle speed is more than approximately 16 km/h (10 mph) below the set vehi-
cle speed.
●Actual vehicle speed falls below approximately 40 km/h (25 mph).
●VSC is activated.
●TRC is activated for a period of time.
●When the VSC or TRC system is turned off by pressing the VSC OFF switch.
●Pre-crash braking is activated.
If constant speed control mode is automatically canceled for any other reason, there may be a malfunction in the system. Contact an y authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus autho- rized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
■Warning messages and buzzers for dynamic radar cruise control with full-speed range
Warning messages and buzzers are used to indicate a system malfunction or to inform the driver of the need for caution while driv ing. If a warning message is shown on the
multi-information display, read the message and follow the instructions. (P. 466)
■When the sensor may not be correctly detecting the vehicle ahead
In the case of the following and depending on the conditions, operate the brake pedal
when deceleration of the system is insufficient or operate the accelerator pedal when acceleration is required.As the sensor may not be able to correctly detect these types of vehicles, the approach
warning ( P. 303) may not be activated.
●Vehicles that cut in suddenly
●Vehicles traveling at low speeds
●Vehicles that are not moving in the same lane
●Vehicles with small rear ends (trailers with no load on board, etc.)
●Motorcycles traveling in the same lane
●When water or snow thrown up by the surrounding vehicles hinders the detecting of the sensor

■Automatic cruise control cancelation
Cruise control will stop maintaining the vehicl e speed in any of the following situations.
●Actual vehicle speed falls more than approximately 16 km/h (10 mph) below the preset
vehicle speed. At this time, the memorized set speed is not retained.
●Actual vehicle speed is below approximately 40 km/h (25 mph).
●VSC is activated.
●TRC is activated for a period of time.
●When the VSC or TRC system is turned off by pressing the VSC OFF switch.
■If the warning message for the cruise control is shown on the multi-information display
Press the “ON/OFF” button once to deactivate the system, and then press the button again to reactivate the system.
If the cruise control speed cannot be set or if the cruise control cancels immediately after being activated, there may be a malfunction in the cruise control system. Have the vehi-cle inspected by any authorized Lexus retaile r or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reli-
able repairer.
WARNING
■To avoid operating the cruise control by mistake
Switch the cruise control off using the “ON/OFF” button when not in use.
■Situations unsuitable for cruise control
Do not use cruise control in any of the following situations. Doing so may result in loss of control and could cause an accident resulting in death orserious injury.
●In heavy traffic
●On roads with sharp bends
●On winding roads
●On slippery roads, such as those covered with rain, ice or snow
●On steep hillsVehicle speed may exceed the set sp eed when driving down a steep hill.
●When your vehicle is towing a trailer or during emergency towing

Driving mode select switch
Vehicles without Adaptive Variable Suspension system
Normal mode
For normal driving.
Press the switch to change the driving mode to normal mode when Eco drive mode or
sport mode is selected.
Eco drive mode
Use Eco drive mode to help achieve low fuel consumption during trips that
involve frequent accelerating.
When not in Eco drive mode and the driving mode select switch is turned to the left, the “ECO” or “ECO MODE” indicator come s on in the multi-information display.
Sport mode
Assists acceleration response by controlling the hybrid system and steering.
Suitable for when precise handling is desirable, for example when driving on
mountain roads.
When not in Sport mode and the driving mode select switch is turned to the right, the
“SPORT” indicator comes on in the multi-information display, and the Hybrid System Indicator changes to the tachometer. ( P. 109)
The driving modes can be selected to suit driving condition.

Vehicles with Adaptive Variable Suspension system
Normal mode/Customized mode
Normal mode and customized mode are selected by pressing the driving
mode select switch. Each time the switch is pressed, the driving mode
changes between normal mode and customized mode. When customized
mode is selected, the “Customize” or “CUSTOMIZE” indicator will be illumi-
nated.
Press the switch to change the driving mode to normal mode when Eco drive mode or sport mode is selected.•Normal mode
For normal driving. • Customized modeAllows you to drive with the power train, chassis and air conditioning system func-
tions set to your preferred settings. Customized mode settings can only be changed on the drive mode customization display of the Remote Touch screen. ( P. 570)
Eco drive mode
Use Eco drive mode to help achieve low fuel consumption during trips that

Sport mode
•SPORT S mode
Assists acceleration response by controlling the transmission and engine.
When not in SPORT S mode and the driving mode select switch is turned to the
right, the “SPORT S” indicator comes on in the multi-information display, and the Hybrid System Indicator changes to the tachometer. ( P. 109)
•SPORT S+ mode
Helps to ensure steering performance and driving stability by simultane-
ously controlling the steering and suspen sion in addition to the hybrid sys-
tem. Suitable for sporty driving.
When in SPORT S mode and the driving mode select switch is turned to the right, the “SPORT S+” indicator comes on in the multi-information display.
■Operation of the air conditioning system in Eco drive mode
Eco drive mode controls the heating/cooling operations and fan speed of the air condi- tioning system to enhance fuel efficiency ( P. 346). To improve air conditioning perfor-
mance, adjust the fan speed or turn off Eco drive mode.
■Automatic operation of the seat heater during Eco drive mode
Eco drive mode controls the he ating operation and fan speed of the air conditioning sys-
tem to enhance fuel efficiency. If the driving mode select switch is switched to Eco drive mode in cold temperatures, the seat heater w ill be automatically operated to assist heat- ing performance.
■Automatic deactivation of sport mode and customized mode
If the power switch is turned off after driv ing in sport mode or customized mode, the drive mode will be changed to normal mode.
■Driving mode pop-up display (12.3-inch display only)
When the driving mode is changed, the selected driving mode will be temporarily dis- played on the side display. ( P. 344)
