GENERAL INFORMATION ON
RADIO FREQUENCIES
This device complies with Part 15 of the
FCC Rules and with Licence exempt RSS
Standards of Industry Canada. Operation
is subject to the following two conditions:
•
This device may not cause harmful
interference, and
• This device must accept any
interference received, including
interference that may cause undesired
operation.
Note: Changes or modifications not
expressively approved by the party
responsible for compliance could void the
user's authority to operate the equipment.
The term "IC:" before the radio certification
number only signifies that Industry Canada
technical specifications were met.
The typical operating range for your
transmitter is approximately 33 ft (10 m).
Vehicles equipped with the remote start
feature have a greater range.
One of the following could cause a
decrease in operating range:
• Weather conditions.
• Nearby radio towers.
• Structures around your vehicle.
• Other vehicles parked next to your
vehicle.
The radio frequency used by your remote
control can also be used by other radio
transmitters, for example amateur radios,
medical equipment, wireless headphones,
wireless remote controls, cell phones,
battery chargers and alarm systems. If the
frequencies are jammed, you cannot use
your remote control. You can lock and
unlock the doors with the key.
Note: Make sure to lock your vehicle before
leaving it unattended. Note:
If you are in range, the remote control
operates if you press any button
unintentionally.
Note: The remote control contains
sensitive electrical components. Exposure
to moisture or impact may cause permanent
damage.
Intelligent Access
(If Equipped)
The system uses a radio frequency signal
to communicate with your vehicle and
authorizes your vehicle to unlock when one
of the following conditions are met:
• You activate the front exterior door
handle switch.
• You press the luggage compartment
button.
• You press a button on the remote
control.
If excessive radio frequency interference
is present in the area, or if the remote
control battery is low, you may need to
mechanically unlock your door. You can
use the mechanical key blade in your
intelligent access key to open the driver
door in this situation. See
Remote
Control (page 49).

Note: You may not be able to shift out of
park (P) unless the intelligent access key is
inside your vehicle.

The remote control operates the power
locks and the remote start system. The
key must be in your vehicle to activate the
push-button start system.
Removable Key Blade
The remote control also contains a
removable mechanical key blade that you
can use to unlock the driver door. Push the release button and pull the key
blade out.
Note:
Your vehicle keys came with a
security label that provides important key
cut information. Keep the label in a safe
place for future reference.
Replacing the Battery
Note: Refer to local regulations when
disposing of remote control batteries.
Note: Do not wipe off any grease on the
battery terminals or on the back surface of
the circuit board.

Note:
Replacing the battery does not delete
the remote control programming to your
vehicle. The remote control should operate
normally after you replace the battery.
A message appears in the information
display when the remote control battery
is low. See General Information (page
98).
Intelligent Access Key
The remote control uses one coin-type
three-volt lithium battery. 1. Push the release button and pull the
key blade out. 2. Twist a thin coin under the tab hidden
behind the key blade head to remove
the battery cover.

3. Insert a suitable tool, for example a
screwdriver, in the position shown and
carefully remove the battery.
4. Install new battery with the + facing
upward.
5. Reinstall the battery cover and the key
blade.
Using the Key Blade
The key cylinder is under a cap on the driver
door handle.
To remove the cap: 1.
Insert the key blade into the slot on the
bottom of the handle and press up.
2. While maintaining upward pressure, move the cap rearward to release it.
Gently remove the key while doing so.
To install the cap: 1. Place the cap just forward of the key
cylinder.
2. While applying pressure to the cap, move it forward until it is in place. You
may hear a snap as it engages.
Make sure you have properly installed the
cap by trying to move it rearward.

Car Finder
Press the button twice within
three seconds. The horn sounds
and the direction indicators
flash. We recommend you use this method
to locate your vehicle, rather than using
the panic alarm.
Sounding a Panic Alarm
Note: The panic alarm only operates when
the ignition is off. Press the button to sound the
panic alarm. Press the button
again or switch the ignition on to
deactivate.
Remote Start (If Equipped) WARNING:
To avoid exhaust
fumes, do not use remote start if your
vehicle is parked indoors or in areas that
are not well ventilated.
Note: Do not use remote start if your fuel
level is low. The remote start button is on the
remote control.
This feature allows you to start your
vehicle from outside the vehicle. The
remote control has an extended operating
range.
Vehicles with automatic climate control
can be configured to operate when the
vehicle is remote started. See Automatic
Climate Control
(page 127).
Many states and provinces have
restrictions for the use of remote start.
Check your local and state or provincial
laws for specific requirements regarding
remote start systems. The remote start system does not work if:
•
The ignition is on.
• The alarm system is triggered.
• You switch off the feature in the
information display. See
General
Information (page 98).
• The hood is open.
• The transmission is not in park (P).
• The vehicle battery voltage is too low.
• The service engine soon light is on.
Remote Starting Your Vehicle
Note: You must press each button within
three seconds of each other. If you do not
follow this sequence, your vehicle does not
start remotely, the direction indicators do
not flash twice and the horn does not sound. To remote start your vehicle:
1. Press the lock button.
2. Press the remote start button twice.
The exterior lamps flash twice.
The horn sounds if the system fails to start.

The power windows do not work during
the remote start and the radio does not
turn on automatically.
The parking lamps remain on and the
vehicle will run for 5, 10, or 15 minutes,
depending on the setting. See

Activating Intelligent Access
General Information
You can unlock and lock the vehicle
without taking the keys out of your pocket
or purse when your intelligent access key
is within 3 ft (1 m) of your vehicle.
Intelligent access uses a sensor on the
back of the door handle for unlocking and
a separate sensor on the face of each door
handle for locking.
The system does not function if:
• Your vehicle battery has no charge.
• The key battery has no charge.
• The key frequencies are jammed.
Note: The system may not function if the
key is close to metal objects or electronic
devices, for example keys or a cell phone.
Note: If the system does not function, use
the key blade to lock and unlock your
vehicle. See
Remote Control (page 49).
Unlocking Using Intelligent Access With your intelligent access key within
3 ft
(1 m) of your vehicle, touch the unlock
sensor on the back of the door handle for
a brief period and then pull on the door
handle to unlock, being careful to not
touch the lock sensor at the same time or
pulling the door handle too quickly. The
intelligent access system requires a brief
delay to authenticate your intelligent
access key fob. Locking Using Intelligent Access With your intelligent access key within
3 ft
(1 m) of your vehicle, touch the outer door
handle lock sensor for approximately one
second to lock, being careful to not touch
the unlock sensor on the back of the door
handle at the same time. After locking, you
can immediately pull on the door handle
to confirm locking occurred without
inadvertently unlocking.
Opening the Luggage Compartment Press the button located in the top of the
liftgate pull cup handle to unlatch the
liftgate, and then pull on the outside
handle.
Smart Unlocks for Intelligent
Access Keys
This helps to prevent you from locking your
key inside the passenger compartment or
rear cargo area.

Illuminated Exit
The interior lamps and some exterior
lamps illuminate when all doors are closed,
you switch the ignition off and you remove
the key from the ignition.
The lamps turn off if all the doors remain
closed and:
•
25 seconds have elapsed.
• You press the START/STOP button.
Battery Saver
If you leave the courtesy lamps, dome
lamps or headlamps on, the battery saver
shuts them off 10 minutes after you switch
the ignition off.
Accessory Mode Battery Saver for
Intelligent Access Keys
If you leave the ignition switched on, it
shuts off once it detects a certain amount
of battery drain, or after 45 minutes.
KEYLESS ENTRY
SECURICODE™ KEYLESS ENTRY
KEYPAD
The keypad is near the driver window. It
illuminates when touched.
Note: If you enter your entry code too fast
on the keypad, the unlock function may not
work. Enter your entry code again more
slowly. You can use the keypad to do the
following:
•
Lock or unlock the doors.
• Recall memory seat and mirror
positions.
• Program and erase user codes.
• Arm and disarm the anti-theft alarm.
You can operate the keypad with the
factory-set five-digit entry code. The code
is on the owner ’s wallet card in the glove
box and is available from an authorized
dealer. You can also program up to five of
your own five-digit personal entry codes.
Programming a Personal Entry Code
1. Enter the factory-set five-digit code.
2. Press
1·2 on the keypad within five
seconds.
3. Enter your personal five-digit code. You must do this within five seconds
of completing step 2.
4. Press
1·2 on the keypad to save
personal code 1.
The doors lock then unlock to confirm that
programming was successful.

POWER LIFTGATE (IF EQUIPPED)
WARNING:
It is extremely
dangerous to ride in a cargo area, inside
or outside of a vehicle. In a crash, people
riding in these areas are more likely to be
seriously injured or killed. Do not allow
people to ride in any area of your vehicle
that is not equipped with seats and
seatbelts. Make sure everyone in your
vehicle is in a seat and properly using a
seatbelt. Failure to follow this warning
could result in serious personal injury or
death. WARNING:
Make sure that you
fully close the liftgate to prevent exhaust
fumes from entering your vehicle. If you
are unable to fully close the liftgate,
open the air vents or the windows to
allow fresh air to enter your vehicle.
Failure to follow this instruction could
result in personal injury or death. WARNING:
Keep keys out of reach
of children. Do not allow children to
operate or play near an open or moving
power liftgate. You should supervise the
operation of the power liftgate at all
times.
Note: Make sure that you close the liftgate
before operating or moving your vehicle,
especially in an enclosure, like a garage or
a parking structure. This could damage the
liftgate and its components.
Note: Do not hang anything, for example
a bike rack, from the glass or liftgate. This
could damage the liftgate and its
components.
For automatic transmissions, the liftgate
only operates with the transmission in park
(P). For manual transmissions, the liftgate only
operates if the vehicle speed is less than
3 mph (5 km/h)
If there is a problem with the open or close
request, a tone sounds for one of the
following reasons:
•
The ignition is on with the transmission
not in park (P).
• The battery voltage is below the
minimum operating voltage.
• You do not have the liftgate fully
closed and your vehicle speed is at or
above
3 mph (5 km/h).
If the liftgate starts to close after it has
fully opened, this indicates there may be
excessive weight on the liftgate or a
possible strut failure. A repetitive tone
sounds and the liftgate closes under
control. Remove any excessive weight
from the liftgate. If the liftgate continues
to close after opening, have the system
checked by an authorized dealer.
Opening and Closing the Liftgate WARNING:
Make sure all persons
are clear of the power liftgate area
before using the power liftgate control.
Note: Make sure the area behind your
vehicle is free from obstruction and that
there is enough room for you to operate the
liftgate. Objects too close to your vehicle,
for example a wall, garage door or another
vehicle may come into contact with the
moving liftgate. This could damage the
liftgate and its components.
Note: Be careful when opening or closing
the liftgate in a garage or other enclosed
area to avoid damaging the liftgate.
Note: Do not leave the liftgate open when
you are driving. This could damage the
liftgate and its components.
