242 Vehicle Care
1. Disconnect the harnessconnector from the air cleaner/
filter cover electrical
connector (4).
2. Remove the air inlet duct (2).
3. Loosen the screw on the air duct clamp (3) holding the air
outlet duct in place. Do not
remove the clamp. Move the
air duct aside.
4. Remove the four air cleaner/ filter housing cover screws (1).
5. Raise the air cleaner/filter housing cover and remove the
air cleaner/filter from the air
cleaner/filter housing.
6. Clean the air cleaner/filter sealing surface and the air
cleaner/filter housing.
7. Install the new engine air cleaner/filter.
8. Lower the air cleaner housing cover and secure with the four
screws (1).
9. Install the air inlet duct (2). 10. Install the air duct and tighten
the screw on the air duct
clamp (3) to secure it to the air
cleaner/filter housing.
11. Install the harness electrical connector (4).
{Warning
Operating the engine with the air
cleaner/filter off can cause you or
others to be burned. Use caution
when working on the engine. Do
not start the engine or drive the
vehicle with the air cleaner/filter
off, as flames may be present if
the engine backfires.
Caution
If the air cleaner/filter is off, dirt
can easily get into the engine,
which could damage it. Always
have the air cleaner/filter in place
when driving.
Cooling System
The cooling system allows the
engine to maintain the correct
working temperature.

Once a Year (Minimum)
. On vehicles with diesel engines,
it is recommended to drain the
diesel fuel filter of water when
the WATER IN FUEL -
CONTACT SERVICE message
displays or a minimum of once
a year.
Engine Oil Change
When the CHANGE ENGINE OIL
SOON DIC message displays, have
the engine oil and filter changed
within the next 1 000 km/600 mi.
If driven under the best conditions,
the engine oil life system may not
indicate the need for vehicle service
for up to a year. The engine oil and
filter must be changed at least once
a year and the oil life system must
be reset. Your trained dealer
technician can perform this work.
If the engine oil life system is reset
accidentally, service the vehicle
within 5 000 km/3,000 mi since the
last service. Reset the oil life
system when the oil is changed.

Air Conditioning Desiccant
(Replace Every Seven Years)
The air conditioning system requires
maintenance every seven years.
This service requires replacement of
the desiccant to help the longevity
and efficient operation of the air
conditioning system. This service
can be complex. See your dealer.
Tire Rotation and Required
Services Every 12 000 km/

Rotate the tires, if recommended for
the vehicle, and perform the
