■
Operation signals
A buzzer sounds and the emergency flashers flash to indicate that the doors
have been locked/unlocked. (Locked: once; Unlocked: twice)
■ When the door cannot be locked by the lock sensor
■ Door lock buzzer
If an attempt to lock the doors is made when a door is not full y closed, a
buzzer sounds continuously. Fully close the door to stop the bu zzer, and lock
the vehicle once more.
■ Alarms and warning indicators
A combination of exterior and interior alarms as well as warnin g messages
shown on the multi-information display are used to prevent thef t of the vehi-
cle and accidents resulting from erroneous operation. Take appr opriate mea-
sures in response to any warning message on the multi-information display.
( P. 409, 413)
The following table describes circumstances and correction proc edures
when only alarms are sounded.

Electronic key battery depletion
●The standard battery life is 1 to 2 years.
● If the battery charge becomes low, a buzzer will sound in the c abin and a
message will be displayed on the multi-information display when the
engine is stopped. ( P. 413)
● As the electronic key always receives radio waves, the battery will
become depleted even if the electronic key is not used. The fol lowing
symptoms indicate that the electronic key battery may be depleted.
Replace the battery when necessary. (P. 363)
• The smart key system or the wireless remote control does not o perate.
• The detection area becomes smaller.
• The LED indicator on the key surface does not turn on.
● To avoid serious deterioration, do not leave the electronic key close to
any of the following electrical appliances that produce a magne tic field:
•TVs
• Personal computers
• Cellular phones, cordless phones and battery chargers
• Recharging cellular phones or cordless phones
• Induction cookers
• Table lamps
■ When the electronic key battery is fully depleted
P. 363
■ If the smart key system has been d eactivated in a customized setting
● Locking and unlocking the doors, unlocking the trunk: Use the w ireless
remote control or mechanical key. ( P. 38, 440)
● Starting the engine and changing “ENGINE START STOP” switch
modes: P. 4 4 1
● Stopping the engine: P. 443

Anti-glare inside rear view mirror
■Automatic anti-glare function
Responding to the level of brightness of the headlights of vehicles behind,
the reflected light is automatically reduced. When the shift le ver is shifted to
R and a rear view image is displayed on the rear view monitor, the automatic
anti-glare function will be disabled.
■ To prevent sensor error
WARNING
■Caution while driving
Do not adjust the position of the mirror while driving.
Doing so may lead to mishandling of the vehicle and cause an ac cident,
resulting in death or serious injury.
The rear view mirror’s position can be adjusted to enable suffi cient
confirmation of the rear view in accordance with the driver's s eating
posture.
To ensure that the sensors operate prop-
erly, do not touch or cover them.

SRS airbag system monitors
A diagnostic system continually
monitors the readiness of the
SRS airbag system (including
front seat belt pretensioners)
while the vehicle is being driven.
The SRS warning light will show
normal system operation by illu-
minating for approximately 6
seconds when the engine switch
is turned to the “ON” position
(vehicles without a smart key
system), or the “ENGINE START
STOP” switch is turned to IGNI-
TION ON mode (vehicles with a
smart key system).
The following components are mo nitored by the indicator:
● Front sub sensor (right-hand side)
● Front sub sensor (left-hand side)
● Airbag control module (including impact sensors and rollover se n-
sors)
● Frontal airbag modu le (driver’s side)
● Frontal airbag module ( front passenger’s side)
● Side airbag sensor (center pillar right-hand side)
● Side airbag sensor (center pillar left-hand side)
● Door impact sensor (right-hand side)
● Door impact sensor (left-hand side)
● Side airbag module (driver’s side)
