■ Installing towing eyelets to the vehicle
Make sure that towing eyelet is installed securely.
If not securely installed, towing eyelets may come loose during towing. This
may lead to accidents that cause serious injury or even death.
■ After towing
●Always remove the towing eyelet. Failure to do so can cause the SRS air-
bags to not operate correctly in the event of a frontal collisi on.
● Always remove the towing eyelets. Failure to do so may prevent the fuel
pump shut off system from operating properly if the vehicle receives an
impact from the rear.

Fuel pump shut off system
Follow the procedure below to restart the engine after the system is
activated.
Vehicles without a smart key system
Turn the engine switch to t he “ACC” or “LOCK” position.
Restart the engine.
Vehicles with a smart key system Turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch to ACCESSORY mode
or turn it off.
Restart the engine.
NOTICE
■Before starting the engine
Inspect the ground under the vehicle.
If you find that fuel has leaked on to the ground, the fuel sys tem has been
damaged and is in need of repair. Do not restart the engine.
When the vehicle sustains an impact in an accident, etc., the f uel
pump shut off system operates to stop supplying fuel in order t o
minimize fuel leakage.

Fuel infor mation
■Fuel tank opening for unleaded gasoline
To help prevent incorrect fueling, your Toyota has a fuel tank opening that
only accommodates the special nozzle on unleaded fuel pumps.
■ If your engine knocks
●Consult your Toyota dealer.
● You may occasionally notice light knocking for a short time whi le acceler-
ating or driving uphill. This is normal and there is no need fo r concern.
The engine is designed to operate at maximum performance using
unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 93 (98 RON) or highe r. I f
an octane rating of 93 (98 RON) fuel is not readily available i n your
area, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 (95 RON) may be
used with no detriment to engine durability or driveability. Ho wever,
you may notice a slight decrease in maximum engine performance
and you may hear some knocking (p inging) of an engine while using
an octane rating of 91 (95 RON) fuel.
If the octane rating is less than 91, damage to the engine may occur
and may void the vehicle warranty.

● Toyota recommends the use of gasoline that contains detergent a dditives
to avoid build-up of engine deposits.
● All gasoline sold in the U.S.A. contains minimum detergent additives to
clean and/or keep clean intake systems, per EPA’s lowest additi ves con-
centration program.
● Toyota strongly recommends the use of Top Tier Detergent Gasoli ne. For
more information on Top Tier Detergent Gasoline and a list of m arketers,
please go to the official website www.toptiergas.com.
■ Toyota recommends the use of cleaner burning gasoline
Cleaner burning gasoline, including reformulated gasoline that contains oxy-
genates such as ethanol is available in many areas.
Toyota recommends the use of cleaner burning gasoline and appro priately
blended reformulated gasoline. These types of gasoline provide excellent
vehicle performance, reduce vehicle emissions and improve air q uality.
■ Non-recommendation of the use of blended gasoline
● If you use gasohol in your vehicle, be sure that it has an octane rating no
lower than 93.
● Toyota DOES NOT recommend the use of gasoline containing methan ol.
●Use only gasoline containing a maxi-
mum of 10% ethanol.
