10. Install the bottle to the air compressorand press it in until the left and right
tabs are engaged securely.

11. Insert the air compressor plug into theaccessory socket inside the vehicle and
switch the ignition to ACC.

CAUTION
When inserting the air compressor plug
into or removing it from the accessory
socket, make sure that the air
compressor switch is off. When turning
the air compressor on/off, use the air
compressor switch.
12. The sealant is injected into the tire
when the air compressor is switched
on. After the sealant is injected
completely, wait until the tire inflation
pressure increases to the specified tire
inflation pressure.
NOTE
The inflation pressure may increase to
about 300 kPa (3.1 kgf/cm
2, 3 bar, 43.5
psi) temporarily to inject the sealant
through the valve. Normally, the
inflation pressure decreases gradually
and it reaches the actual inflation
pressure after about 30 seconds.
WARNING
Never use the air compressor above 300
kPa (3.1 kgf/ c m
2, 3 bar, 43.5 psi):
Using the air compressor at an inflation
pressure above 300 kPa (3.1 kgf/cm
2, 3
bar, 43.5 psi) continuously is
dangerous. If the air compressor
overheats, hot air will be exhausted and
you could get burned.
NOTE
Check the tire inflation pressure
label driver's door frame for the
correct tire inflation pressure.
Do not operate the air compressor
for a continuous 10 minutes or
longer because using it for long
periods could cause a malfunction.

WA R N I N G
Make sure the mounting surfaces of the
wheel, hub and lug nuts are clean
before changing or replacing tires:
When changing or replacing a tire, not
removing dirt and grime from the
mounting surfaces of the wheel, hub
and hub bolts is dangerous. The lug
nuts could loosen while driving and
cause the tire to come off, resulting in
an accident.
2. Mount the tire.
3. Install the lug nuts with the beveled edge inward; tighten them by hand.

WA R N I N G
Do not apply oil or grease to lug nuts
and bolts and do not tighten the lug
nuts beyond the recommended
tightening torque:
Applying oil or grease to lug nuts and
bolts is dangerous. The lug nuts could
loosen while driving and cause the tire
to come off, resulting in an accident. In
addition, lug nuts and bolts could be
damaged if tightened more than
necessary.
4. Turn the lug wrench counterclockwiseand lower the vehicle.
5. Use the lug wrench to tighten the nuts
in the order shown.

If you are unsure of how tight the nuts
should be, have them inspected at an
Authorized Mazda Dealer.

Always securely and correctly tighten
the lug nuts:
Improperly or loosely tightened lug
nuts are dangerous. The wheel could
wobble or come off. This could result in
loss of vehicle control and cause a
serious accident.

Be sure to reinstall the same nuts you
removed or replace them with metric
nuts of the same configuration:
Because the wheel studs and lug nuts
on your Mazda have metric threads,
using a non-metric nut is dangerous.
On a metric stud, it would not secure
the wheel and would damage the stud,
which could cause the wheel to slip off
and cause an accident.
6. Remove the tire blocks and store the tools and jack.
7. Check the inflation pressure. Refer to Tires on page 9-8.
WA R N I N G
Do not drive with any tires that have
incorrect air pressure:
Driving on tires with incorrect air pressure
is dangerous. Tires with incorrect pressure
could affect handling and result in an
accident. When you check the regular tires'
air pressure, check the spare tire, too.
NOTE
To prevent the jack and tool from rattling,
store them properly.

1. Remove the battery cover.
2. Make sure the booster battery is 12 Vand that its negative terminal is
grounded.
3. If the booster battery is in another
vehicle, do not allow both vehicles to
touch. Turn off the engine of the
vehicle with the booster battery and all
unnecessary electrical loads in both
vehicles.
4. Connect the jumper cables in the exact sequence as in the illustration.
Connect one end of a cable to the
positive terminal o n the discharged
battery (1).
Attach the other end to the positive
terminal on the booster battery (2).
Connect one end of the other cable
to the negative terminal of the
booster battery (3).
Connect the other end to the ground
point indicated in the illustration
away from the discharged battery
(4).
5. Start the engine of the booster vehicle
and run it a few minutes. Then start the
engine of the other vehicle.
6. When finished, car efully disconnect
the cables in the reverse order
described in the illustration.
7. If the battery cover has been removed,
install it in the reverse order of
removal.
NOTE
Verify that the covers are securely
installed.

Tiedown Hooks*
CAUTION
Do not use the front and rear tiedown
eyelets for towing the vehicle.
They have been designed only for securing
the vehicle to a transport vessel during
shipping.
Using the eyelets for any other purpose
could result in the vehicle being damaged.

1. Remove the tiedown eyelet and the lug
wrench from the luggage compartment
(page 7-3).
2. Wrap a flathead screwdriver or similar
tool with a soft c loth to prevent
damage to a painted bumper, and open
the cap located on the front or rear
bumper.

damage the cap or scratch the painted
bumper surface.

Remove the cap completely and store it
so as not to lose it.
3. Securely install the tiedown eyelet using the lug wrench or equivalent.

4. Hook the tying rope to the tiedown eyelet.
CAUTION
If the tiedown eyelet is not securely
tightened, it may loosen or disengage
from the bumper when tying the
vehicle. Make sure that the tiedown
eyelet is securely tightened to the
bumper.

If the automatic transmission warning indication/light illuminates, the transmission has an

Light If the light stays on, the TCS, DSC or the brake assist system may have a malfunction and
they may not operate correctly.

Air Bag/Seat Belt
Pretensioner System Warning Light A system malfunction is indicated
if the warning light constantly flashes, constantly illu-
minates or does not illuminate a t all when the ignition is switched ON. If any of these oc-
cur, consult an Authorized Mazda Dealer as soon as possible. The system may not operate
in an accident.WA R N I N G
Never tamper with the air bag/pretensioner systems and always have an Authorized Mazda
Dealer perform all servicing and repairs:
Self-servicing or tampering with the systems is dangerous. An air bag/pretensioner could
accidentally activate or become disabled causing serious injury or death.

Seat Belt Warning
Light Mexico
The seat belt warning light turns on if the
driver or passenger's seat is occupied and
the seat belt is not fastened with the ignition
switched ON.
If the driver or passenger's seat belt is un-
fastened (only when th
e passenger's seat is
occupied) and the vehicle is driven at a
speed faster than about 20 km/h (12 mph),
the warning light flash es. After a short time,
the warning light stops flashing, but re-
mains illuminated. If a seat belt remains un-
fastened, the warning light flashes again for
a given period of time.
NOTE
Placing heavy items on the passenger's
seat may cause the passenger's seat belt
warning function to operate depending on
the weight of the item.
To allow the passenger seat weight sensor
to function properly, do not place and sit
on an additional seat cushion on the pas-
senger's seat. The sensor may not function
properly because the ad ditional seat cush-
ion could cause sensor interference.
If a small child is seated on the passeng-
er's seat, the warnin g light may not oper-
ate. Fasten the seat belts.
Door-Ajar/Trunk
lid-Ajar Warning Indi- cation/Warning Light The light turns on if any door/trunk lid is
not closed securely.
Close the door/trunk lid securely.
Low Fuel Warning
Light The light turns on when
the remaining fuel
is about 9.0 L (2.3 US gal, 1.9 Imp gal).
NOTE
The light illumination timing may vary be-
cause fuel inside the fuel tank moves
around according to the driving conditions
and the vehicle posture. Add fuel.
Check Fuel Cap Warn-
ing Light If the check fuel cap warning light illumi-
nates while driving, the fuel-filler cap may
not be installed properly.
Stop the engine and reinstall the fuel-filler
cap.
