Replacing the fuse by yourself is
dangerous because the MAIN fuse is a
high current fuse. Incorrect

4. Reinstall the cover and make sure that it is securely installed.

▼Cleaning the Floor Mats
Rubber floor mats should be cleaned with
mild soap and water only.
WA R N I N G
Do not use rubber cleaners, such as tire
cleaner or tire shine, when cleaning rubber
floor mats:
Cleaning the rubber
floor mats with rubber
cleaning products makes the floor mats
slippery.
This may cause an accident when
depressing the accelerator or brake pedal
or when getting in or out of the vehicle.
After removing the floor mats for
cleaning, always reinstall them securely
(page 3-50).

To secure the jack
1. Insert the wing bolt into the jack withthe jack screw pointing back and turn
the wing bolt clockwise to temporarily
tighten it.
2. Tighten the jack screw clockwise.

3. Turn the wing bolt completely tosecure the jack.
NOTE
If the jack is not completely secured, it
could rattle while driving. Make sure
the jack screw is sufficiently tightened.
Maintenance
•Always keep the jack clean.
•Make sure the moving parts are kept
free from dirt or rust.
•Make sure the screw thread is
adequately lubricated.
▼ Spare Tire
Your Mazda has a temporary spare tire.
The temporary spare tire is lighter and
smaller than a conventional tire, and is
designed only for emergency use and
should be used only for VERY short
periods. Temporary spare tires should
NEVER be used fo
r long drives or
extended periods.
WA R N I N G
Do not install the temporary spare tire on
the front wheels (driving wheels):
Driving with the temporary spare tire on
one of the front driving wheels is
dangerous. Handling will be affected. You
could lose control of the vehicle, especially
on ice or snow bound roads, and have an
accident. Move a regular tire to the front
wheel and install the temporary spare tire
to the rear.

7.(Vehicles with sub-woofer)
Turn the hold-down bolt
counterclockwise and remove the
sub-woofer and the spare tire.

(Vehicles without sub-woofer)
Turn the hold-down bolt
counterclockwise and remove the spare
tire.

To secure the spare tire
Store the spare tire in the reverse order of
removal. After storing, verify that the
spare tire is stored securely.
CAUTION
(Vehicles with sub-woofer)
Secure the sub-woofer in its correct
position. If the sub-woofer is not installed
to the correct position, it may move while
the vehicle is driven which may damage
the sub-woofer or the wiring harness.
 Store the tool bag on the right side of the
vehicle. If the tool ba g is stored on the left
side of the vehicle, it may move while the
vehicle is driven which may damage the
wiring harness.
Refer to Spare Tire and Tool Storage on
page 7-3.

To install the antitheft lug nut
1. Place the special key on top of the nut,and be sure to hold the key square to it.
If you hold the key at an angle, you
may damage both key and nut. Do not
use a power impact wrench.
2. Place the lug wrench on top of the special key, apply pressure, and turn it
clockwise.

▼Mounting the Spare Tire
NOTE
The number and shape of the flat tire belt
differ depending on the vehicle
specification.

Belt clips
•The flat tire belts with the clips are for
securing a flat tire.
•The flat tire belts without the clips are
for securing the sub-woofer.
1. Remove dirt and grime from the
mounting surfaces of the wheel and
hub, including the hub bolts, with a
cloth.

WA R N I N G
Make sure the mounting surfaces of the
wheel, hub and lug nuts are clean
before changing or replacing tires:
When changing or replacing a tire, not
removing dirt and grime from the
mounting surfaces of the wheel, hub
and hub bolts is dangerous. The lug
nuts could loosen while driving and
cause the tire to come off, resulting in
an accident.

WA R N I N G
Always securely and correctly tighten
the lug nuts:
Improperly or loosely tightened lug
nuts are dangerous. The wheel could
wobble or come off. This could result in
loss of vehicle control and cause a
serious accident.
Be sure to reinstall the same nuts you
removed or replace them with metric
nuts of the same configuration:
Because the wheel studs and lug nuts
on your Mazda have metric threads,
using a non-metric nut is dangerous.
On a metric stud, it would not secure
the wheel and would damage the stud,
which could cause the wheel to slip off
and cause an accident.
6. (Vehicles with sub-woofer)
Secure the sub-woofer to the flat tire
using the flat tire belt.
1. Pass the flat tire belt through the
wheel of the flat tire.

2. Install the sub-woofer to the flat tire.

3. Pass the flat tire belt through thebuckle.

4. Pull the end of the flat tire belt andsecure the sub-woofer and the
wiring harness to the flat tire.

CAUTION
When pulling the flat tire belt, wrap
the buckle with a cloth. If the buckle
directly contacts the sub-woofer,
the sub-woofer may be damaged.
7. (Vehicles except for Mexico)
Secure the flat tire in the luggage
compartment using the flat tire belt.
1. Pull the flat tire belts out of the
buckle to separate them into two
belts.

2. Hook the clips of the flat tire belts to the hooks under the third-row
seat.

3. Place the flat tire in the luggagecompartment so that it leans
against the luggage board.

4. Pass the flat tire belts through thewheel of the flat tire.

5. Pass the flat tire belts through thebuckle.

6. While pressing the flat tire against
the third-row seat , pull the ends of
the flat tire belts and secure the flat
tire.

CAUTION
When pulling the flat tire belts,
wrap the buckle with a cloth. If the
buckle directly contacts the
aluminum wheel, the wheel may be
damaged.
