The front passenger sensing system workswith sensors that are part of the frontpassenger seat and seatbelt. The sensorsare designed to detect the presence of aproperly seated occupant and determine ifthe front passenger frontal airbag should beenabled.
•When the front passenger sensingsystem enables the front passengerfrontal airbag (may inflate), the passengerairbag status indicator illuminates the onlamp and remains illuminated.
If a person of adult size is sitting in the frontpassenger seat, but the passenger airbagstatus indicator off lamp is lit, it is possiblethat the person is not sitting properly in theseat. If this happens:
•Switch your vehicle off and ask theperson to place the seatback in anupright position.
•Have the person sit upright in the seat,centered on the seat cushion, with theperson's legs comfortably extended.
•Restart your vehicle and have the personremain in this position for about twominutes. This allows the system to detectthat person and enable the passengerfrontal airbag.
•If the indicator off lamp remains lit evenafter this, you should advise the personto ride in the rear seat.
Note:When the passenger airbag statusindicator off lamp illuminates, the passengerside airbag (seat mounted) may be disabledto avoid the risk of airbag deploymentissues.
After all occupants have adjusted their seatsand put on seatbelts, it is very important thatthey continue to sit properly. A properlyseated occupant sits upright, leaning againstthe seatback, and centered on the seatcushion, with their feet comfortably extendedon the floor. Sitting improperly can increasethe chance of injury in a crash event. Forexample, if an occupant slouches, lies down,turns sideways, sits forward, leans forwardor sideways, or puts one or both feet up, thechance of injury during a crash greatlyincreases.
If you think that the state of the passengerairbag status indicator lamp is incorrect,check for the following:
•Objects lodged underneath the seat.
•Objects between the seat cushion andthe center console.
•Objects hanging off the seat backrest.
•Objects stowed in the seat backrest mappocket.
•Objects placed on the occupant's lap.
•Cargo interference with the seat
•Other passengers pushing or pulling onthe seat.
•Rear passenger feet and knees restingor pushing on the seat.
The conditions listed above may cause theweight of a properly seated occupant to beincorrectly interpreted by the front passengersensing system. The person in the frontpassenger seat may appear heavier or lighterdue to the conditions described in theprevious list.

Supplementary Restraints System

To Unlock the Liftgate Glass
Enter the factory-set 5-digit code or yourpersonal code, then press 5·6 to unlock theliftgate glass.
Displaying the Factory-Set Code
Note:Two programmed intelligent accesskeys are required for this procedure.
1. Open the floor console storagecompartment lid.
2. With the buttons facing the rear of yourvehicle and the key ring facing upward,place the first intelligent access key intothe backup slot inside the center console.
3. Press the push button ignition switchonce and wait for a few seconds.
4. Press the push button ignition switchagain and remove the intelligent accesskey from the center console.
5. Insert the second programmed key intothe backup slot in the center console,then press the push button ignitionswitch.
The factory-set code appears in theinformation display for a few seconds.
Note:The code may not display until afterany other warning messages first display.

Note:You can program a maximum of fourkeys to your vehicle.
You must have two previously programmedintelligent access keys inside your vehicleand the new unprogrammed intelligentaccess key readily accessible. You canpurchase replacement keys or remotecontrols from an authorized dealer.
Make sure that the ignition is switched offbefore beginning this procedure. Make surethat you close all the doors before beginningand that they remain closed throughout theprocedure. Carry out all steps within 30seconds of starting the sequence. Stop andwait for at least one minute before startingagain if you carry out any steps out ofsequence.
Read and understand the entire procedurebefore you begin.
1. Remove the key blade from thetransmitter.
2. Open the center console storagecompartment lid.
3. Insert the first programmed key in thebackup slot.
4. Press the push button ignition switch.
5. Wait five seconds and then press thepush button ignition switch again.
6. Remove the intelligent access key.
7. Within 10 seconds, place a secondprogrammed intelligent access key in thebackup slot and press the push buttonignition switch.
8. Wait five seconds and then press thepush button ignition switch again.
9. Remove the intelligent access key.
10. Wait five seconds, then place theunprogrammed intelligent access keyin the backup slot and press the pushbutton ignition switch.
11.Once complete, the information clusterdisplays a message confirming the keyhas been programmed. The directionindicators flash and the horn sounds.
Programming is now complete. Check thatthe remote control functions operate andyour vehicle starts with the new intelligentaccess key.
If programming was unsuccessful, wait 10seconds and repeat steps 1 through 7. If itstill does not work, take your vehicle to anauthorized dealer.

Rear Seats
WARNING: Persons who are unableto feel pain to the skin because ofadvanced age, chronic illness, diabetes,spinal cord injury, medication, alcohol use,exhaustion, or other physical conditions,must exercise care when using the seatheater. The seat heater may cause burnseven at low temperatures, especially ifused for long periods of time. Do not placeanything on the seat that insulates againstheat, such as a blanket or cushion,because this may cause the seat heater tooverheat. Do not puncture the seat withpins, needles, or other pointed objectsbecause this may damage the heatingelement which may cause the seat heaterto overheat. An overheated seat maycause serious personal injury.

12 Volt DC Power Point
WARNING: Do not plug optionalelectrical accessories into the cigar lightersocket. Incorrect use of the cigar lightercan cause damage not covered by thevehicle warranty, and can result in fire orserious injury.
Note:When you switch the ignition on, youcan use the socket to power 12 voltappliances with a maximum current ratingof 15 amps.
If the power supply does not work after youswitch the ignition off, switch the ignition on.Note:Do not hang any accessory from theaccessory plug.
Note:Do not use the power point over thevehicle capacity of 12 volt DC 180 watts ora fuse may blow.
Note:Always keep the power point capsclosed when not in use.
Do not insert objects other than an accessoryplug into the power point. This damages thepower point and may blow the fuse.
Run the vehicle for full capacity use of thepower point.
To prevent the battery from running out ofcharge:
•Do not use the power point longer thannecessary when the vehicle is notrunning.
•Do not leave devices plugged inovernight or when you park your vehiclefor extended periods.
USB Port and Power Point Locations
USB Ports and Power Points may be in thefollowing locations:
•On the lower instrument panel.
•Inside the center console.
•On the front of the center console.
•On the rear of the center console.
•In the cargo area.
•On the passenger side floor panel.
•3rd row on the quarter trim panels.
Note:Some of the USB ports may not havedata transfer capabilities.
110 Volt AC Power Point (If Equipped)
WARNING: Do not keep electricaldevices plugged in the power pointwhenever the device is not in use. Do notuse any extension cord with the 110 voltAC power point, since it will defeat thesafety protection design. Doing so maycause the power point to overload due topowering multiple devices that can reachbeyond the 150 watt load limit and couldresult in fire or serious injury.
Note:The power point turns off when youswitch off the ignition, when the vehicle isnot in accessory mode or when the batteryvoltage drops below 11 volts.
You can use the power point for electricdevices that require up to 150 watts. It is onthe rear of the center console.

Auxiliary Power Points

Do not place metal objects, for exampleremote controls, coins and candy wrappers,on or near the charging area when charginga device. Metal objects may heat up anddegrade the charging performance.
Note:The rate of charge, or charging power,is controlled by the device. During charging,the device and the charger may heat up, thisis normal. If the battery gets hotter thanusual, the charger may stop charging.
The charging area is on the center consoleor lower instrument panel. See CenterConsole (page 189).
You can charge a device if the vehicle is offwhen in accessory mode or if SYNC is on.
To begin charging, place the device on thecenter of the charging surface with thecharging side down. The charging stops afteryour device reaches a full charge.
Note:If the system detects a foreign objector if the device is misaligned on the chargingarea, a message appears in the display.
