When trouble arises ■
If “Oil Maintenance Required” is dis-
played
Indicates that the engine oil should be
changed.
Check and change the en gine oil, and oil fil-
ter by your Lexus deal er. After changing the
engine oil, make sure to reset the message.

If “Shift System Malfunction Driving
Unavailable” is displayed
There is a malfunction in the shift control
system. Have the vehicle inspected by your
Lexus dealer immediately. ■
If a message that in dicates the need for
the shift lever oper ation is displayed
To prevent the shift lever from being oper-
ated incorrectly or the vehicle from moving
unexpectedly, a message that requires shift-
ing the shift position may be displayed on
the multi-information display. In that case,
follow the instruction of the message and
shift the shift position. ■
If a message that in dicates the need for
visiting your Lexus dealer is displayed
The system or part shown on the
multi-information display is malfunctioning.
Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus
dealer immediately. ■
If a message that in dicates the need for
referring to Owner’s Manual is dis-
played●
If any of the following messages are
shown on the multi-information display,
follow the instructions.
• “Engine Coolant Temp High” ( → P.453)
•“Battery Low” ( → P.447)
• “Transmission Fluid Temp High” ( → P.175)
●
If any of the following messages are
shown on the multi-information display, it
may indicate a malfunction. Have the
vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer
immediately.
• “Access System with Elec. Key Malfunc-
tion”
• “Shift System Malfunction”
• “P Switch Malfunction”
• “Shift System Unavailable”
• “Hybrid System Malfunction”
•“Check Engine” • “Hybrid Battery System Malfunction”
• “Accelerator System Malfunction” ●
If any of the following messages are
shown on the multi-info rmation display, it
may indicate a malfun ction. Immediately
stop the vehicle and contact your Lexus
dealer.
• “Braking Power Low”
• “Charging System Malfunction”
• “Oil Pressure Low” ●
If “Maintenance Required for Traction
Battery Cooling Parts” is shown, the fil-
ters may be clogged, the air intake vents
may be blocked, or there may be a gap in
the duct. Therefore, perform the follow-
ing correction procedure.
• If the air intake vent s and filters of the
hybrid battery (traction battery) are dirty,
perform the procedure on P.374 to clean
them.
• If the warning message is shown when
the air intake vents and filters of the
hybrid battery (traction battery) are not
dirty, have the vehicle inspected by your
Lexus dealer.
NOTICE■
If “High Power Consumption Partial
Limit On AC/Heater Operation” is
displayed frequently
There is a possible malfunction relating
to the charging system or the 12-volt bat-
tery may be deteriorating. Have the vehi-
cle inspected by your Lexus dealer.
■
If “Have Traction Battery Inspected”
is displayed
This message indicates that the hybrid
battery (traction battery) may require
inspection or replacement. Have the
vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer
immediately.
Do not continue driving the vehicle, as
the hybrid system may become not able
to be started again.

When trouble arises
One of the following may be the cause
of the problem:
 The electronic key may not be func-
tioning properly. ( → P.445)
 There may not be sufficient fuel in
the vehicle’s tank.
Refuel the vehicle.
 There may be a malfunction in the
immobilizer system. ( → P.66)
 There may be a malfunction in the
shift control system. *
( → P.171, 441)
 There may be a malfunction in the
steering lock system.
 The hybrid system may be malfunc-
tioning due to an electrical problem
such as electronic key battery
depletion or a blown fuse. However,
depending on the type of malfunc-
tion, an interim measure is available
to start the hybrid system. ( → P.443)
 There is a possibility that the tem-
perature of the hybrid battery (trac-
tion battery) is extremely low
(approximately below -22°F [-30°C]). ( → P.168) *
: It may not be possible to shift the shift
position from P.
One of the following may be the cause
of the problem:
 The 12-volt battery may be dis-
charged. ( → P.447)
 The 12-volt battery terminal con-
nections may be lo ose or corroded.
( → P.393)
One of the following may be the cause
of the problem:
 One or both of the 12-volt battery
terminals may be disconnected.
( → P.393)
 The 12-volt battery may be dis-
charged. ( → P.447)Contact your Lexus dealer if the problem
cannot be repaired, or if repair procedures
are unknown.
When the hybrid syst em does not start,
the following steps can be used as an
interim measure to start the hybrid sys-
tem if the power switch is functioning If the hybrid system will not
start Reasons for the hybrid system not
starting vary depending on the situ-
ation. Check the following and per-
form the appropriate procedure:
The hybrid system will not start
even though the correct starting
procedure is being followed.
( → P.168) The interior lights and head-
lights are dim, or the horn does
not sound or sounds at a low vol-
ume.
The interior lights and head-
lights do not turn on, or the horn
does not sound.

When trouble arises
Remove the cover inside the trunk and
pull the lever.
Using the lever to open the fuel filler
door may not allow for an adequate
reduction in fuel tank pressure before
refueling. To prevent fuel from spilling
out, turn the cap slowly when removing
it. During refueling, fuel may spill out
from the filler opening due to air being
discharged from inside the fuel tank.
Therefore, fill the fuel tank carefully and
slowly. ■
When the electronic key does not work
properly ●
Make sure that the smart access system
with push-button star t has not been dis-
abled at your Lexus dealer. If it has been
disabled, re-enable it. ●
Check if battery-saving mo de is set. If it is
set, cancel the function. ( → P.120)
■
Unlocking the door
Use the mechanical key ( → P.106) in
order to perform th e following opera-
tions:If the fuel filler door cannot
be opened If the fuel filler door opener switch
cannot be operated, contact your
Lexus dealer to service the vehicle.
In case where refueling is urgently
necessary, the following procedure
can be used to open the fuel filler
door.
Opening the fuel filler door If the electronic key does not
operate properly If communication between the
electronic key and vehicle is inter-
rupted ( → P.120) or the electronic
key cannot be used because the
battery is depleted, the smart
access system with push-button
start and wireless remote control
cannot be used. In such cases, the
doors and trunk can be opened and
the hybrid system can be started by
following the procedure below.

In case of a smart access system with
push-button start malfunction or
other key-rela ted problems
Take your vehicle with all the electronic
keys provided with your vehicle to your
Lexus dealer.

Locking the door
1 With the door open, push down the
inside lock button.
2 Close the door. ■
Trunk
Turn the mechanical key clockwise to
open. ( → P.68) ■
Key linked functions
1 Closes the windows and the moon
roof (turn and hold)
2 Opens the windows and the moon
roof (turn and hold) These settings must be customized at your
Lexus dealer.
1 Depress the brake pedal. WARNING■
When using the mechanical key and
operating the power windows or
moon roof
Operate the power window or moon
roof after checking to make sure that
there is no possibility of any passenger
having any of their body parts caught in
the window or moon roof.
Also, do not allow children to operate the
mechanical key. It is possible for children
and other passengers to get caught in
the power window or moon roof.

When trouble arises 2 Touch the Lexus emblem side of the
electronic key to the power switch.When the electronic key is detected, a
buzzer sounds and the power switch will
turn to ON mode.
When the smart access system with
push-button start is de activated in custom-
ization setting, the powe r switch will turn to
ACCESSORY mode.
3 Firmly depress the brake pedal and
check that is shown on the
multi-information display.
4 Press the power switch.
In the event that the hybrid system still
cannot be started, contact your Lexus
dealer. ■
Stopping the hybrid system
Set the parking brake, shift the shift position
to P and press the power switch as you nor-
mally do when stopping the hybrid system.
■
Electronic key battery
As the above procedure is a temporary
measure, it is recomme nded that the elec-
tronic key battery be replaced immediately
when the battery is depleted. ( → P.413)
■
Changing power switch modes
Release the brake pedal and press the
power switch in step 3 above. The hybrid
system does not start and modes will be
changed each time the switch is pressed.
( → P.170) If you have a set of jumper (or booster)
cables and a second vehicle with a
12-volt battery, you can jump start your
vehicle by following the steps below. 
Method connecting jumper (or
booster) cables to the 12-volt bat-
tery
1 Confirm that the electronic key is
being carried. When connecting the jumper (or booster)
cables, depending on the situation, the
alarm may activate and doors locked.

2 Open the trunk lid and remove the
luggage mat. ( → P.348)In the event that the trunk opener cannot
be used, use the mechanical key to open
the trunk. ( → P.445)If the 12-volt battery is dis-
charged The following procedures may be
used to start the hybrid system if the
12-volt battery is discharged.
You can also call your Lexus dealer
or a qualified repair shop.

clamp on the other end of the positive cab le to on the second vehicle. Then,
connect a negative cable clamp to on the second vehicle and connect the
clamp at the other end of the negative cable to .
Positive (+) battery terminal (your vehicle)
Positive (+) battery terminal (second vehicle)
Negative (-) battery terminal (second vehicle)

4 Start the engine of the second vehi-
cle. Increase the engine speed
slightly and maintain at that level for
approximately 5 minutes to
recharge the 12-volt battery of your
vehicle.
5 Open and close any of the doors of
your vehicle with the power switch
off.
6 Maintain the engine speed of the
second vehicle and start the hybrid
system of your vehicle by turning
the power switch to ON mode.
7 Make sure the “READY” indicator
comes on. If the indicator does not
come on, contact your Lexus
dealer.
8 Once the hybrid system has
started, remove the jumper cables in the exact reverse order from
which they were connected. 

system of your vehicle by turning

8 Make sure the “READY” indicator

9 Once the hybrid system has
started, remove the jumper cables
in the exact reverse order from
which they were connected.
10 Close the exclusive jump starting
terminal cover and install the fuse
box cover and en gine compart-
ment cover.
Once the hybrid system starts, have
the vehicle inspected at your Lexus
dealer as soon as possible. ■
Starting the hybrid system when the
12-volt battery is discharged
The hybrid system cannot be started by
push-starting. ■
To prevent 12-volt battery discharge●
Turn off the headlights and the audio sys-
tem while the hybrid system is off.
●
Turn off any unnecessary electrical com-
ponents when the vehicle is running at a
low speed for an extended period, such
as in heavy traffic.
■
When the 12-volt battery is removed or
discharged
●
Information stored in the ECU is cleared.
When the 12-volt battery is depleted,
have the vehicle inspected at your Lexus
dealer.
●
Some systems may require initialization. ( → P.495)■
When removing the 12-volt battery ter-
minals
When the 12-volt battery terminals are
removed, the information stored in the
ECU is cleared. Before removing the
12-volt battery terminals, contact your
Lexus dealer. ■
Charging the 12-volt battery
The electricity stored in the 12-volt battery
will discharge gradually even when the
vehicle is not in use, due to natural dis-
charge and the draining effects of certain
electrical appliances. If the vehicle is left for
a long time, the 12-volt battery may dis-
charge, and the hybrid system may be
unable to start. (The 12-volt battery
recharges automatically while the hybrid
system is operating.) ■
When recharging or replacing the
12-volt battery ●
In some cases, it may not be possible to
unlock the doors using the smart access
system with push-button start when the
12-volt battery is discharged. Use the
wireless remote control or the mechani-
cal key to lock or unlock the doors. ●
The hybrid system may not start on the
first attempt after the 12-volt battery has
recharged but will start normally after the
second attempt. This is not a malfunction. ●
The power switch mode is memorized by
the vehicle. When the 12-volt battery is
reconnected, the system will return to the
mode it was in before the 12-volt battery
was discharged. Before disconnecting
the 12-volt battery, turn the power switch
off.
If you are unsure what mode the power
switch was in before the 12-volt battery
discharged, be especially careful when
reconnecting the 12-volt battery.
■
When replacing the 12-volt battery
●
Use a Central Degassing type 12-volt
battery (European Regulations).
●
Use a 12-volt battery with the same case
size as the previous 12-volt battery and an
epuivalent 20 hour rate capacity (20HR)
or greater.
