4-5. Using the driving support systems
Driving
object by the roadside at the entrance of a curve
• When driving on a narrow path sur- rounded by a structure, such as in a tun-nel or on an iron bridge
• When there is a metal object (manhole cover, steel plate, etc.), steps, or a protru-sion on the road surface or roadside
• When a crossing pedestrian approaches
very close to the vehicle*2
• When passing through a place with a low structure above the road (low ceiling,
traffic sign, etc.)
• When passing under an object (billboard,
etc.) at the top of an uphill road
• When rapidly closing on an electric toll gate barrier, parking area barrier, or other barrier that opens and closes
• When using an automatic car wash • When driving through or under objects that may contact the vehicle, such as thick
grass, tree branches, or a banner
• When the vehicle is hit by water, snow,
dust, etc. from a vehicle ahead • When driving through steam or smoke• When there are patterns or paint on the
road or a wall that may be mistaken for a
vehicle or pedestrian*2
• When driving near an object that reflects radio waves, such as a large truck or guardrail
• When driving near a TV tower, broad- casting station, electric power plant, or other location where strong radio waves
or electrical noise may be present*2: Depending on the region in which the
vehicle was sold, the pedestrian detec-
tion function may not be available.
■Situations in which the system may not operate properly
●In some situations such as the following, a vehicle may not be detected by the radar
sensor and camera sensor, preventing the system from operating properly:• If an oncoming vehicle is approaching
your vehicle • If a vehicle ahead is a motorcycle or bicy-

7-2. Steps to take in an emergency
When trouble arises
To have your vehicle towed by another
vehicle, the towing eyelet must be
installed to your vehicle. Install the tow-
ing eyelet using the following proce-
dure.
1 Take out the towing eyelet.

2 Remove the eyelet cover using a
flathead screwdriver.
To protect the bodywork, place a rag between the screwdriver and the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.
3 Insert the towing eyelet into the
hole and tighten partially by hand.
4 Tighten down the towing eyelet
securely using a wheel nut wrench
or hard metal bar.
5 Securely attach cables or chains to
the towing eyelet.
Take care not to damage the vehicle body.
6 Enter the vehicle being towed and
start the engine .
If the engine does not start, turn the engine switch
switch> to IGNITION ON mode .
7 Shift the shift position to N and
release the parking brake.
■While towing
If the engine is not running , the power assist for the brakes and
steering will not function, making steering and braking more difficult.
