Power brakes
Your vehicle has power-assisted brakesthat adjust automatically through nor‐
mal usage.
In the event that the power-assisted
brakes lose power because of a stalled engine or some other reason, you can
still stop your vehicle by applying
greater force to the brake pedal than you normally would. The stopping dis‐
tance, however, will be longer.
When the engine is not running, the re‐
serve brake power is partially depleted each time the brake pedal is applied. Do
not pump the brake pedal when the
power assist has been interrupted.
Pump the brake pedal only when nec‐ essary to maintain steering control on
slippery surfaces.

•Do not drive with your foot restingon the brake pedal. This will createabnormal high brake tempera‐tures, excessive brake lining andpad wear, and increased stoppingdistances.
•When descending a long or steephill, shift to a lower gear and avoidcontinuous application of thebrakes. Continuous brake applica‐tion will cause the brakes to over‐heat and could result in a tempo‐rary loss of braking performance.
•Wet brakes may impair the vehi‐cle’s ability to safely slow down;the vehicle may also pull to oneside when the brakes are applied.Applying the brakes lightly will in‐dicate whether they have been af‐fected in this way. Always testyour brakes in this fashion afterdriving through deep water. To drythe brakes, apply them lightlywhile maintaining a safe forwardspeed until brake performance re‐turns to normal.

•Always, confirm the position ofthe brake and accelerator pedalbefore driving. If you don't checkthe position of the accelerator andbrake pedal before driving, youmay depress the accelerator in‐stead of the brake pedal. It maycause a serious accident.
In the event of brake failure
If service brakes fail to operate while
the vehicle is in motion, you can make an emergency stop with the parking
brake. The stopping distance, however,
will be much greater than normal.
WARNING
nParking brake
Applying the parking brake while thevehicle is moving at normal speedscan cause a sudden loss of control ofthe vehicle. If you must use theparking brake to stop the vehicle,use great caution in applying thebrake.

Collision warning (2nd warning)
• The warning message appears on theLCD display with a warning alarm.
• The vehicle will reduce its speed to a certain limit.- The brake activates gradually for vehicles ahead.
- The brake control activates within an arranged limit to ease the im‐
pact from a collision.
Emergency braking (3rd warning)
• The warning message appears on the LCD display with a warning alarm.
• The vehicle will reduce its speed to a certain limit.
- The brake control activates within an arranged limit to ease the im‐
pact from a collision. Maximum
brake control is activated just be‐
fore the collision.
Brake operation
• In an urgent situation, the braking system enters into the ready status
for prompt reaction against the driv‐ er’s depressing the brake pedal. • The FCA provides additional braking
power for optimum braking perform‐
ance, when the driver depresses the
brake pedal.
• The braking control is automatically deactivated, when the driver sharplydepresses the brake pedal, or when
the driver abruptly operates the
steering wheel.
• The braking control is automatically canceled, when risk factors disappear.
CAUTION
The driver should always pay greatcaution to vehicle operation, eventhough there is no warning messageor warning alarm.
WARNING
The FCA cannot avoid all collisions.The FCA might not completely stopthe vehicle before collision, due toambient, weather and road condi‐tions. The driver has the responsibili‐ty to drive safely and control the ve‐hicle.

• Use your air conditioning sparingly.The air conditioning system is oper‐
ated by engine power so your fuel economy is reduced when you use it.
• Open windows at high speeds can re‐ duce fuel economy.
• Fuel economy is less in crosswinds and headwinds. To help offset some
of this loss, slow down when driving
in these conditions.
Keeping a vehicle in good operating
condition is important both for econo‐
my and safety. Therefore, have the system serviced by a professional
workshop.

WARNING
nEngine off during motion
Never turn the engine off to coastdown hills or anytime the vehicle isin motion. The power steering andpower brakes will not function prop‐erly without the engine running. In‐stead, keep the engine on and down‐

shift to an appropriate gear for en‐gine braking effect. In addition, turn‐ing off the ignition while drivingcould engage the steering wheel lockresulting in loss of vehicle steeringwhich could cause serious injury ordeath.

WARNING
Before using the Tire Mobility Kit,follow the instructions on the seal‐ant bottle.Remove the label with the speed re‐striction from the sealant bottle andapply it to the steering wheel.

Using the Tire Mobility Kit
1. Detach the speed restriction label(1) from the sealant bottle (2), and
place it in a highly visible place in‐
side the vehicle such as on the
steering wheel to remind the driver
not to drive too fast.
2. Filling the sealant Strictly follow the specified sequence, otherwise
the sealant may escape under high pressure.
3. Shake the sealant bottle.
4. Connect the filling hose (3) onto the connector of the sealant bottle (A).
5. Ensure that the button (9) on the compressor is not pressed.
6. Unscrew the valve cap from the valve of the defective wheel and
screw the filling hose (3) of the
sealant bottle onto the valve.
7. Insert the sealant bottle into the housing of the compressor so that
the bottle is upright (B).
8. Ensure that the compressor is switched off, position 0.
9. Connect between compressor and the vehicle power outlet using the
cable and connectors.
NOTICE
Only use the front passenger side
power outlet.
10. With the ignition switched on or en‐ gine start/stop button position on:
Switch on the compressor and let it
run for approximately 3 minutes to
fill the sealant. The inflation pres‐
sure of the tire after filling is unim‐
portant.
11. Switch off the compressor.
