Features of your vehicle
When the power window lock switch is pressed:
The driver's master control canoperate all the power windows.
The front passenger's control can operate the front passenger's
power window.
The rear passenger's control can- not operate the rear passenger's
power window.
WARNING - Windows
NEVER leave the keys in your vehicle with unsupervised
children, when the Engine isrunning.
NEVER leave any child unat- tended in the vehicle. Even
very young children may inad-
vertently cause the vehicle to
move, entangle themselves in
the windows, or otherwise
injure themselves or others.
Always double check to make sure all arms, hands, headand other obstructions are
safely out of the way before
closing a window.
Do not allow children to play with the power windows. Keep
the driver’s door power window
lock switch in the LOCK posi-
tion (pressed). Serious injury
can result from unintentional
window operation by the child.
Do not extend face or arms out- side the window whilst driving.
CAUTION
To prevent possible damage
to the power window system,do not open or close two win-dows or more at the sametime. This will also ensure the longevity of the fuse.
Never try to operate the main switch on the driver's doorand the individual door win-dow switch in opposing direc- tions at the same time. If this isdone, the window will stop andcannot be opened or closed.

Opening the bonnet
1. Pull the release lever to unlatch
the bonnet. The bonnet should
pop open slightly. 2. Go to the front of the vehicle, raise
the bonnet slightly, pull up the sec-
ondary latch (1) inside of the bon-net centre and lift the bonnet (2). 3. Pull out the support rod.
4. Hold the bonnet opened with the
support rod.

Open the bonnet after turning off
the engine on a flat surface,
shifting the shift lever to the
P(Park) position for automatic
transaxle / dual clutch transmis-
sion and to the 1(First) gear or
R(Reverse) for manual transaxle,
and setting the parking brake.
WARNING - Hot parts
Be very careful not to touch the
support rod when the engine
and parts are hot. You could get
burned or get seriously injured.

Closing the bonnet
1. Before closing the bonnet, checkthe following:

2. Return the support rod to its clip to prevent it from rattling.
3. Lower the bonnet until it is about 30 cm above the closed position
and let it drop. Make sure that it
locks into place.
4. Check that the bonnet has engaged properly. If the bonnet
can be raised slightly, it is not
properly engaged.
Open it again and close it with a lit-
tle more force.WARNING - Bonnet
Before closing the bonnet, ensure that all obstructions
are removed from the bonnet
opening. Closing the bonnetwith an obstruction present in
the bonnet opening may
result in property damage or
severe personal injury.
Do not leave gloves, rags or any other combustible materi-
al in the engine compartment.
Doing so may cause a heat-
induced fire.WARNING
Always double check to be sure that the bonnet is firmly
latched before driving away. If
it is not latched, the bonnet
could fly open whilst the vehi-
cle is being driven, causing a
total loss of visibility, whichmight result in an accident.
The support rod must be inserted completely into the
hole whenever you inspect the
engine compartment. This will
prevent the bonnet from falling
and possibly injuring you.
Do not move the vehicle with the bonnet raised. The view
will be blocked and the bon-
net could fall or be damaged.

WARNING - Refuelling
If pressurized fuel sprays out, it can cover your clothes or
skin and thus subject you to
the risk of fire and burns.
Always remove the fuel cap
carefully and slowly. If the cap
is venting fuel or if you hear a
hissing sound, wait until the
condition stops before com-
pletely removing the cap.
Do not "top off" after the noz- zle automatically shuts offwhen refuelling.
Always check that the fuel cap is installed securely to pre-
vent fuel spillage in the eventof an accident.(Continued)
Do not get back into a vehicle once you have begun refu-
elling since you can generate
static electricity by touching,
rubbing or sliding against any
item or fabric (polyester, satin,
nylon, etc.) capable of produc-
ing static electricity. Static
electricity discharge can
ignite fuel vapours resulting
in rapid burning. If you must
re-enter the vehicle, you
should once again eliminate
potentially dangerous static
electricity discharge by touch-
ing a metal part of the vehicle,
away from the fuel filler neck,
nozzle or other petrol source.

please note the following guide-
lines carefully. Failure to follow
these guidelines may result in

Read and follow all warning posted at the gas station facility.
Before refuelling note the location of the Emergency
Petrol Shut-Off, if available, at
the gas station facility.
Before touching the fuel noz- zle, you should eliminate
potentially dangerous static
electricity discharge by touch-
ing another metal part of the
vehicle, a safe distance away
from the fuel filler neck, noz-
zle, or other gas source.

If your vehicle is equipped with a
sunroof, you can slide or tilt your
sunroof with the sunroof control lever
located on the overhead console. The sunroof can only be opened, closed, or tilted when the ignition
switch is in the ON position.

NOTICE
Only the front glass of the panora-
ma sunroof opens and closes.
In cold and wet climates, the sun- roof may not work properly due to
freezing conditions.
After the vehicle is washed or in a rainstorm, be sure to wipe off any
water that is on the sunroof before
operating it. Sunroof open warning (if equipped)
If the driver removes the ignition key
(smart key: turns off the engine) and
opens the driver-side door when the
sunroof is not fully closed, the warn-
ing chime will sound for approximate-
ly 7 seconds and a warning message
will appear on the LCD display. Close the sunroof securely when
leaving your vehicle.

Closing the sunroof
To close the sunroof glass with
the sunshade
Push the sunroof control lever forward. The sunroof glass will close and then
the sunshade will close automatically.
To stop the sunroof movement at any point, pull or push the sunroof control
lever momentarily.
Automatic reversal
If an object or part of the body is detect- ed whilst the sunroof glass or sun-
shade is closing automatically, it will
reverse the direction, and then stop.
The auto reverse function does not
work if a tiny obstacle is between thesliding glass or sunshade and the sun-
roof sash. You should always checkthat all passengers and objects are
away from the sunroof before closing it. Objects less than 4 mm (0.16 inch) in
diameter caught between the sun-roof glass and the front glass chan-
nel may not be detected by the auto-
matic reverse glass and the glass will
not stop and reverse direction.

WARNING - Sunroof
Be careful that someone’s head, hands and body are not
trapped by a closing sunroof.
Do not extend the face, neck, arms or body outside through
an opened sunroof whilstdriving.
Make sure your hands and face are safely out of the way
before closing a sunroof.
A panorama sunroof is made of glass, therefore it may break
in an accident. If you do not
have your seat belt on, you
may stick out of the broken
glass and get injured or killed.
For all passengers safety, have
an appropriate protection on.
(ex. seat belt, CRS, etc.)

STEERING WHEEL
Electronic power steering (EPS)
Power steering uses the motor to
assist you in steering the vehicle. If
the engine is off or if the power steer-
ing system becomes inoperative, the
vehicle may still be steered, but it will
require increased steering effort.
The motor driven power steering is
controlled by the power steering con-
trol unit which senses the steering
wheel torque and vehicle speed to
command the motor.
The steering wheel becomes heavier
as the vehicle’s speed increases and
becomes lighter as the vehicle’s
speed decreases for better control of
the steering wheel.
Should you notice any change in the
effort required to steer during normal
vehicle operation, have the system
checked by a professional workshop.Kia recommends to visit an autho-
rised Kia dealer/service partner.
✽✽ NOTICE
The following symptoms may occur
during normal vehicle operation:
 The EPS warning light does not illuminate.
 The steering effort is high immedi- ately after turning the ignition
switch on. This happens as the sys-
tem performs the EPS system diag-
nostics. When the diagnostics is
completed, the steering wheel will
return to its normal condition.
 A click noise may be heard from the EPS relay after the ignition switch
is turned to the ON or LOCK/OFF
position.
 Motor noise may be heard when the vehicle is at a stop or at a low driv-
ing speed.
 The steering effort increases if the steering wheel is rotated continu-
ously when the vehicle is not in
motion. However, after a few min-
utes, it will return to its normal con-

 If an error is detected in the electric
power steering system, EPS will
stop assisting driver in steering the
vehicle to prevent accidents and the
warning light on the cluster will
illuminate or blink. In this case,
have the system inspected by a pro-
fessional workshop. Kia recom-
mends to visit an authorised Kia
dealer/service partner.
 When you operate the steering wheel in low temperature, abnor-
mal noise could occur. If tempera-
ture rises, the noise will disappear.
This is a normal condition.
 When the vehicle is stationary, if you turn the steering wheel all the
way to the left or right continuously,
the steering wheel becomes heavier
from the end. This is not a system
malfunction but for your safety. As
time passes, the steering wheel
returns to its normal condition.
 When the charging system warn- ing light comes on or the voltage is
low (When the alternator (or bat-
tery) does not operate normally or
it malfunctions), the steering wheel
may get heavy and become diffi-
cult to control operate abnormally.
