TURNING THE DCA SYSTEM ON/
OFF
To turn on the DCA system, push the
dynamic driver assistance switchon the
steering wheel after starting the hybrid
system. The DCA system switch indicator
in the vehicle information display will
appear. Push the dynamic driver assistance
switch
again to turn off the DCA system.
The DCA system switch indicatorwill turn
off.
The system will start to operate after the
vehicle speed is above approximately 3 MPH
(5 km/h).
The dynamic driver assistance switch
is
used for the LDP, BSI and DCA systems.
When the dynamic driver assistance switch
is pushed, the LDP and BSI systems will
also turn on or off simultaneously. The DCA
system can be individually set to on or off on
the center display and using the center
multi-function control panel
. If the system
is set to off, the system will not turn on even
if the dynamic driver assistance switch
is
pushed to on. To set the system to on or off
on the display, see “How to enable/disable
the DCA system” (P.5-94).
When the conventional (fixed speed) cruise
control mode is operating, the DCA system
will not operate. (To use the DCA system,
turn the conventional (fixed speed) cruise

When the hybrid system is turned off, the
system is automatically turned off.

HOW TO ENABLE/DISABLE THE
DCA SYSTEM
Perform the following steps to enable or
disable the DCA system.
1. Push the SETTING button
.
2. Touch [Driver Assistance].
3. Touch [Forward Assist].
4. Touch [Distance Control Assist] to turn the system ON/OFF.

DCA SYSTEM DISPLAY AND IN-
DICATORS
The display is located between the speed-
ometer and tachometer.
1. DCA system switch indicator:
Indicates that the dynamic driver assis-
tance switch is ON.
2. Vehicle ahead detection indicator:
Indicates whether it detects a vehicle in
front of you.
3. DCA system warning light (orange):
The light comes on if there is a malfunc-
tion in the DCA system.

4. Drive at economical speeds and dis-tances.
.Observing the speed limit and notexceeding 60 MPH (97 km/h) (where
legally allowed) can improve fuel
efficiency due to reduced aerody-
namic drag.
.Maintaining a safe following distance
behind other vehicles reduces unne-
cessary braking.
.Safely monitoring traffic to anticipatechanges in speed permits reduced
braking and smooth acceleration
changes.
.Select a gear range suitable to roadconditions.
5. Use cruise control.
.Using cruise control during highway driving helps maintain a steady speed.
.Cruise control is particularly effectivein providing fuel savings when driving
on flat terrains.
6. Plan for the shortest route.
.Utilize a map or navigation system to determine the best route to save time.
7. Avoid idling.
.Shutting off your engine when safe for stops exceeding 30-60 seconds
saves fuel and reduces emissions. 8. Buy an automated pass for toll roads.
.Automated passes permit drivers to
use special lanes to maintain cruising
speed through the toll and avoid
stopping and starting.
9. Winter warm up.
.Limit idling time to minimize impact to fuel economy.
.Vehicles typically need no more than30 seconds of idling at start-up to
effectively circulate the engine oil
before driving.
.Your vehicle will reach its ideal oper-ating temperature more quickly while
driving versus idling.
10. Keeping your vehicle cool.
.Park your vehicle in a covered parking area or in the shade whenever possi-
ble.
.When entering a hot vehicle, openingthe windows will help to reduce the
inside temperature faster, resulting in
reduced demand on your A/C system. .
Keep your engine tuned up.
. Follow the recommended scheduled
maintenance.
. Keep the tires inflated to the correct
pressure. Low tire pressure increases tire
wear and lowers fuel economy.
. Keep the wheels in correct alignment.
Improper alignment increases tire wear
and lowers fuel economy.
. Use the recommended viscosity engine
oil. (See “Engine oil and oil filter recom-
mendation” (P.10-5).)

.Watch for slippery spots (glare ice).
These may appear on an otherwise
clear road in shaded areas. If a patch
of ice is seen ahead, brake before
reaching it. Try not to brake while on
the ice, and avoid any sudden steer-
ing maneuvers.
. Do not use the cruise control on
slippery roads.
. Snow can trap dangerous exhaust
gases under your vehicle. Keep snow
clear of the exhaust pipe and from
around your vehicle.
ENGINE BLOCK HEATER (if so
equipped)
Engine block heaters are used to assist in
cold temperature starting.
The engine block heater should be used
when the outside temperature is 20°F
(−7°C) or lower.
To use the engine block heater
1. Turn the INFINITI Direct Response Hy-
brid®System off.
2. Open the hood and unwrap the engine block heater cord.
3. Plug the engine block heater cord into a grounded 3-wire, 3-pronged extension
cord.
4. Plug the extension cord into a Ground Fault Interrupt (GFI) protected,
grounded 110-volt AC (VAC) outlet.
5. The engine block heater must be plugged in for at least 2 - 4 hours, depending on
outside temperatures, to properly warm
the engine coolant. Use an appropriate
timer to turn the engine block heater on.
6. Before turning the hybrid system ON, unplug and properly store the cord to
keep it away from moving parts.
WARNING
.Do not use your engine block heater
with an ungrounded electrical system
or a 2-pronged adapter. You can be
seriously injured by an electrical
shock if you use an ungrounded
connection. .
Disconnect and properly store the
engine block heater cord before turn-
ing the hybrid system ON. Damage to
the cord could result in an electrical
shock and can cause serious injury.
. Use a heavy-duty 3-wire, 3-pronged
extension cord rated for at least 10A.
Plug the extension cord into a Ground
Fault Interrupt (GFI) protected,
grounded 110-VAC outlet. Failure
to use the proper extension cord or
a grounded outlet can result in a fire
or electrical shock and cause serious
personal injury.

Use the following steps to mount the license
plate:
Before mounting the license plate, confirm
that the following parts are enclosed in the
plastic bag.
Only use the recommended mounting posi-
tion, otherwise the radar sensor (Intelligent
Cruise Control (ICC) system) (if so equipped)
obstruction may result.
.License plate bracket
. J-nut × 2
. Screw × 2
. Screw grommet × 2
1. Park the vehicle on flat, level ground.
2. Locate the center position
as illu-
strated. Position the license plate brack-
et at a distance of approximately 0.74 in
(18.8 mm)
from the bottom of the
bumper. Hold the license plate bracket in
place.
3. Mark the center of the hole
with a felt-
tip pen.
4. Carefully drill two pilot holes using a 0.39 in (10 mm) drill bit at the marked
locations. (Be sure that the drill only
goes through the bumper fascia.)
5. Insert grommets into the hole on the fascia.
6. Insert a flat-blade screwdriver into the
