INTRODUCTION
The Fiat Doblò Natural Power version
features two fuel supply systems,
one for petrol and one for natural gas
(methane).
Selecting the type of fuel supply
Fiat Doblò Natural Power is configured
to run normally on methane.
When the methane is running out and
the pressure in the cylinder is close
to the correct operating limit, the
system automatically switches to petrol
operation.
The engine always starts up on petrol,
with automatic switching to methane
when the best conditions are achieved
(engine water temperature, minimum
engine rpm limit) for switching to
methane.
Therefore, there must always be some
petrol in the tank (at least 1/4 full), in
order not to compromise the operation
of the fuel pump.
For this reason there must always
be petrol in the tank. The petrol/methane switch fig. 87,
amongst the controls in the dashboard,
makes it possible to select petrol
operation. The system does not switch
automatically to methane operation if
the petrol runs out.
IMPORTANT If gas is smelled, switch
from methane operation to petrol
operation and immediately go to a Fiat
Dealership to have the vehicle checked
and possible system faults excluded.
METHANE CYLINDERS
The vehicle is provided with 4 cylinders
with a capacity of 95 litres; for the
Cargo Maxi version (long wheelbase), a
5
thcylinder is available as an optional,
increasing the capacity to 130 litres. The cylinders are all located under the
floor and protected by special guards.
The cylinders fig. 88, fig. 89 and fig.
90 are the tank that contains methane
in compressed gaseous state (200
rated bar at 15 °C).
Canister capacity:
- Short wheelbase versions: approx.
16.15 kg
- Short wheelbase versions: approx.
22.1 kg.
The amount of methane depends on
the outside temperature, the supply
pressure, the quality of the gas and the
type of refuelling system. Overall
cylinder volume approximately 95 litres
(short wheelbase versions) and 130
litres (long wheelbase versions).

If they are open, they can cause the
system to send false signals: always
close the rear doors.
Do not apply stickers to the sensors.
WARNING
112)The sensor must be free of mud, dirt,
snow or ice in order for the system to
work. Be careful not to scratch or damage
the sensors while cleaning them. Avoid
using dry, rough or hard cloths. The
sensors must be washed using clean
water, with the addition of vehicle
shampoo if necessary. When using special
washing equipment such as high pressure
jets or steam cleaning, clean the sensors
very quickly keeping the jet more than
10 cm away.
113)Parking manoeuvres, however, are
always the driver’s responsibility. While
carrying out these manoeuvres, always
make sure that no people (especially
children) or animals are in the area
concerned. The parking sensor is designed
to assist drivers, who must still never
allow their attention to lapse during
potentially dangerous manoeuvres even if
performed at low speed.
REFUELLING THE
VEHICLE
PETROL ENGINES
Only use unleaded petrol, with an
octane number (R.O.N.) not lower than
95.
IMPORTANT Never use leaded petrol,
even in small amounts or in an
emergency, as this would damage the
catalytic converter beyond repair.
DIESEL ENGINES
Operation at low temperatures
Only use Diesel for motor vehicles
(EN590 specification).
In order to avoid these problems,
different types of Diesel are distributed
according to the season: summer
type, winter type and Arctic type (cold,
mountain areas). If refuelling with diesel
whose specifications are not suitable
for the usage temperature, it is
advisable to mix PETRONAS
DURANCE DIESEL ART additive in the
proportions shown on the container
with the fuel. Pour the additive into the
tank before the fuel.
When using or parking the vehicle for a
long time in the mountains or cold
areas, it is advisable to refuel using
locally available diesel fuel.In this case, it is also advisable to keep
the tank over 50% full.
28)
REFUELLING CAPACITY
To ensure that you fill the tank
completely, top up twice after the first
click of the fuel supply gun. Further
top-ups could cause faults in the fuel
feeding system.
FUEL TANK CAP
Opening
1) Open the flap A fig. 136 by pulling it
outwards, keep the cap B still, insert
the ignition key in the lock and turn
it anticlockwise.
2) Turn the cap anticlockwise and
remove it. The cap has a device C that
attaches it to the flap so it cannot be
lost. When refilling, attach the plug
to the flap, as shown.

WARNING
28)For diesel engines, use only diesel fuel
for motor vehicles in accordance with
EN590 European specifications. The use of
other products or mixtures may damage
the engine beyond repair and
consequently invalidate the warranty, due
to the damage caused. If you accidentally
introduce other types of fuel into the tank,
do not start the engine. Empty the tank.
If the engine has been run for even an
extremely limited amount of time, you must
not only drain the fuel tank, but the rest of
the supply circuit as well.
29)Do not approach naked flames or lit
cigarettes to the fuel tank filler: fire risk.
Keep your face away from the fuel filler to
prevent breathing in harmful vapours.
30)Methane refuelling stations are not
authorised to refill the cylinders when the
inspection date has expired. The check
valve prevents the methane from flowing
back to the fuel filler.
TOWING TRAILERS
IMPORTANT
The vehicle must be equipped with a
type-approved tow hook and adequate
electrical system to tow trailers.
Installation should be carried out by
specialised personnel who will issue the
required papers for travelling on roads.
Install any specific and/or additional
door mirrors as specified by the
Highway Code.
Remember that when towing a trailer,
steep hills are harder to climb, braking
spaces increase and overtaking takes
longer depending on the overall weight.
Engage a low gear when driving
downhill, rather than constantly using
the brake.
The weight of the trailer on the vehicle
tow hook will reduce the loading
capacity of the vehicle by the same
amount.

TECHNICAL DATA
Some automatic systems equipped with old generation blades and/or with a poor maintenance can damage the paint, promoting the
creation of microscoring which give an opaque/coated appearance to the paint, especially on dark colours. In this case, just lightly polish with
specific products.
RADIO
To connect to the existing wiring in the vehicle, contact a Fiat Dealership to prevent any problems that could impair vehicle safety.
EOBD SYSTEM
If, when the ignition key is turned to MAR, thewarning light does not switch on, switches on constantly or flashes when driving (on
certain versions together with the message on the display), contact a Fiat Dealership as soon as possible. The operation of thewarning
light may be checked by the traffic police using specific devices. Comply with the laws and regulations of the country where you are driving.
SNOW CHAINS
Keep the vehicle's speed down when snow chains are fitted; never exceed 50 km/h. Avoid potholes, do not drive over steps or
pavements, and do not drive long distances over roads without snow, to avoid damaging both your vehicle and the road surface.
DIESEL FILTER
The presence of water in the supply circuit may cause severe damage to the injection system and irregular engine operation. If thewarning light comes on, go to a Fiat Dealership as soon as possible to have the system bled. If the above indication occurs immediately
after refuelling, water may have entered the tank: turn the engine off immediately and contact a Fiat Dealership.
BATTERY
Incorrect installation of electric and electronic devices may cause severe damage to your vehicle. After purchasing your vehicle, if you wish
to install any accessories (anti-theft, radio phone, etc.), go to a Fiat Dealership, which will suggest the most suitable devices and advise you
whether a higher capacity battery needs to be installed.
If the vehicle will be unused for an extended period of time in extremely cold weather conditions, remove the battery and store it in a
heated area to prevent it from freezing.
