Initial Drive Information
This section provides a brief overview
about some of the important features
that may or may not be on your
specific vehicle.
For more detailed information, refer to
each of the features which can be
found later in this owner’s manual.
Remote Keyless Entry
(RKE) System
The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)
transmitter may be used to lock and
unlock the doors from up to 60 m
(197 ft) away from the vehicle.
Q:Press to lock all doors.
K:Press to unlock the driver door or
all doors, depending on the vehicle
personalization settings. See “Remote
Lock, Unlock, Start ”under Vehicle
Personalization 0147.
7:Press and release one time to
initiate vehicle locator. Press and hold
for three seconds to sound the panic
alarm. Press again or start the vehicle
to cancel the panic alarm.
X: Press twice quickly to release the
trunk.
Press the key release button on the
side of the transmitter to pull out the
key. Never pull the key out without
pressing the button. The key can be
used for the driver door.

Remote Vehicle Start
The engine can be started from
outside of the vehicle.
Starting the Vehicle
1. Press and releaseQon the RKE
transmitter.
2. Immediately press and hold
/
for at least four seconds or until
the turn signal lamps flash.
Start the vehicle normally after
entering.
When the vehicle starts, the parking
lamps will turn on.
Remote start can be extended.
Canceling a Remote Start
To cancel a remote start, do one of
the following:
. Press and hold
/until the
parking lamps turn off.
. Turn on the hazard warning
flashers.
. Turn the vehicle on and then off.

Q:Press to lock all doors. The turn
signal indicators may flash and/or the
horn may sound on the second press
to indicate locking. See Vehicle
Personalization 0147.
If the driver door is open when is
pressed and Open Door Anti-Lockout
is enabled, all doors will lock and then
the driver door will immediately
unlock. See Vehicle Personalization
0 147
If the passenger door is open when
Q
is pressed, all doors lock.
Pressing
Qmay also arm the alarm
system. See Vehicle Alarm System 041. If equipped with remote mirror
folding, pressing and holding
Qfor
one second will fold the mirrors,
if enabled. See Vehicle Personalization
0 147.
K:Press to unlock the driver door or
all doors depending on the vehicle
personalization settings. See Vehicle
Personalization 0147. When remotely
unlocking the vehicle at night, the
headlamps and back-up lamps will
come on for about 30 seconds to light
your approach to the vehicle. The turn
signal indicators may flash to indicate
unlocking. See Vehicle Personalization
0 147.
Pressing
Kwill disarm the alarm
system. See Vehicle Alarm System 041.
If equipped with remote mirror
folding, pressing and holding
Kfor
one second will unfold the mirrors,
if enabled. See Vehicle Personalization
0 147. If equipped with remote windows,
press and hold
Kto open the
windows from outside the vehicle,
if enabled. See Vehicle Personalization
0 147.
/:If equipped, press and releaseQand then immediately press and hold
/for at least four seconds to start
the engine from outside the vehicle
using the RKE transmitter. See Remote
Vehicle Start 034.
7:Press and release one time to
initiate vehicle locator. The exterior
lamps flash and the horn chirps three
times. Press and hold
7for
three seconds to sound the panic
alarm. The horn sounds and the turn
signal lamps flash for 30 seconds,
or until
7is pressed again or the
vehicle is started.
X: Press twice quickly to release the
trunk.
Keyless Access Operation
The Keyless Access system allows the
doors and trunk to be locked and
unlocked without pressing the RKE

PressZ{to activate the safety
locks on the rear doors. The indicator
light in the switch will illuminate
when activated. The rear door power windows are also
disabled. See
Power Windows 046.
Press
Z {again to deactivate the
safety locks.
If the rear inside door handle is being
pulled when the safety lock is
deactivated, that door will remain
locked and the indicator light may
flash. Release the handle, then press
the safety lock twice to deactivate the
safety locks.
This switch also operates the window
lockout feature.
Doors
Trunk
{Warning
Exhaust gases can enter the vehicle
if it is driven with the liftgate or
trunk/hatch open, or with any
objects that pass through the seal
between the body and the trunk/
hatch or liftgate. Engine exhaust
contains carbon monoxide (CO)
which cannot be seen or smelled.
It can cause unconsciousness and
even death.
If the vehicle must be driven with
the liftgate or trunk/hatch open:
. Close all of the windows.
. Fully open the air outlets on
or under the instrument
panel.
. Adjust the climate control
system to a setting that
brings in only outside air and

set the fan speed to the
highest setting. See“Climate
Control Systems” in the Index.
. If the vehicle is equipped with
a power liftgate, disable the
power liftgate function.
See Engine Exhaust 0190.
Trunk Lock Release
To open the trunk:
.
Press
|from inside the vehicle. .
Press
Xtwice quickly on the
Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)
transmitter.
. Press the emblem on the trunk
after unlocking all doors.
With the Keyless Access system
the RKE transmitter must be
within 1 m (3 ft) of the trunk for it
to be recognized. See Remote
Keyless Entry (RKE) System
Operation 027.
Use the handle to assist in closing the
trunk. Do not use the handle as a
tie-down.
If the vehicle is ever without power,
the trunk area can still be accessed by
folding the rear seat:
1. Fold down the rear seatback. See Rear Seats 065.
2. Reach inward through the opening to locate the emergency
trunk release handle.
3. Pull the release handle to open the trunk.

release handle as a tie-down or
anchor point when securing items
in the trunk as it could damage the
handle.
There is a glow-in-the-dark emergency
trunk release handle on the trunk lid.
This handle will glow following
exposure to light. Pull the release
handle to open the trunk from the
inside.
After use, return to the stored
position.
Vehicle Security
This vehicle has theft-deterrent
features; however, they do not make
the vehicle impossible to steal.
Vehicle Alarm System
This vehicle has an anti-theft alarm
system.
The indicator light, on the instrument
panel near the windshield, indicates
the status of the system.
Off : Alarm system is disarmed.
On Solid : Vehicle is secured during
the delay to arm the system.

2. Lift up on the latch in the middleof the wiper blade where the
wiper arm attaches.
3. With the latch open, pull the wiper blade down toward the
windshield far enough to release
it from the J-hooked end of the
wiper arm.
4. Remove the wiper blade.
5. Reverse Steps 1–3 for wiper blade replacement.
Windshield Replacement
HUD System
The windshield is part of the HUD
system. If the windshield must be
replaced, get one that is designed for
HUD or the HUD image may look out
of focus.
Driver Assistance Systems
If the windshield needs to be replaced
and the vehicle is equipped with a
front camera sensor for the Driver
Assistance Systems, a GM
replacement windshield is
recommended. The replacement windshield must be installed
according to GM specifications for
proper alignment. If it is not, these
systems may not work properly, they
may display messages, or they may
not work at all. See your dealer for
proper windshield replacement.
Acoustic Windshield
The vehicle is equipped with an
acoustic windshield. If the windshield
needs to be replaced, be sure to get an
acoustic windshield so you will
continue to have the benefits an
acoustic windshield can provide.
Gas Strut(s)
This vehicle is equipped with gas
strut(s) to provide assistance in lifting
and holding open the hood/trunk/
liftgate system in full open position.
{Warning
If the gas struts that hold open the
hood, trunk, and/or liftgate fail, you
or others could be seriously injured.

Take the vehicle to your dealer for
service immediately. Visually
inspect the gas struts for signs of
wear, cracks, or other damage
periodically. Check to make sure the
hood/trunk/liftgate is held open
with enough force. If struts are
failing to hold the hood/trunk/
liftgate, do not operate. Have the
vehicle serviced.
Caution
Do not apply tape or hang any
objects from gas struts. Also do not
push down or pull on gas struts.
This may cause damage to the
vehicle.

Block
The instrument panel fuse block is in
the instrument panel, on the driver
side of the vehicle. To access the
fuses, open the fuse panel door by
pulling down at the top.
Press in on the sides of the door to
release it from the instrument panel.
Pull the door toward you to release it
from the hinge.

The tire sealant and compressor kit
has an accessory adapter located in a
compartment on the bottom of its
housing that may be used to inflate
air mattresses, balls, etc.
Removal and Installation of the
Sealant Canister
To remove the sealant canister:1. Unwrap the sealant hose.
2. Press the canister release button (9).
3. Pull up and remove the canister. 4. Replace with a new canister
which is available from your
dealer.
5. Push the new canister into place.
Storing the Tire Sealant
and Compressor Kit
To access the tire sealant and
compressor kit: 1. Open the trunk. See Trunk039.
2. Lift the cover.
3. Turn the wing nut counterclockwise to remove it. 4. Remove the tire sealant and
compressor kit.
To store the tire sealant and
compressor kit, reverse the steps.
