Sets the particular compass zones on the vehicle
so that the compass operates correctly; refer to World map with compass zones.

Procedure1.Press and hold the control button for approx.3 to 4 seconds. The number of the set comj
pass zone appears in the mirror.2.To change the zone setting, press the control button quickly and repeatedly until the numj
ber of the compass zone that corresponds with your location appears in the mirror.
The set zone is stored automatically. The comj
pass is ready for use again after approximately
10 seconds.
Calibrating
the
digital
compass
The digital compass must be calibrated in the event of the following:
'xThe wrong compass point is displayed.'xThe point of the compass displayed does notchange despite changing the direction of
travel.'xNot all points of the compass are displayed.
Procedure
1.Make sure that there are no large metallic obj jects or overhead power lines near the vehicle
and that there is sufficient room to drive
around in a circle.2.Set the currently applicable compass zone.3.Press and hold the control button for approx. 6 to 7 seconds so that "C" appears on the
display. Next, drive in a complete circle at least once at a speed of no more than4 mph/7 km/h. If calibration is successful, the
"C" is replaced by the points of the compass.Seite 209*nterior

steeringThe digital compass is already set for right orleft-hand steering at the factory.
Setting

Press and hold the control button for approx. 12
to 13 seconds. Briefly press the control button again to switch between English "E" and German"O".
Settings are stored automatically after approxij mately 10 seconds.

shield Fold the sun visor down or up.

1.Fold the sun visor down.2.Unhook it from the holder and swing it to the side.3.Move it back to the desired position.

Proceed in the reverse order to close the sun vij sor.
Vanity
mirror A vanity mirror is located in the sun visor behind
a cover. When the cover is opened, the interior
lighting switches on.

The ashtray can be inserted in the cup holder.
Emptying
Take out the insert.
Cigarette
lighter
WARNING
Contact with the hot heating element or the hot
socket of the cigarette lighter can cause burns. Flammable materials can ignite if the cigarettelighter falls down or is held against the respecjtive objects. There is a risk of fire and injuries.
Take hold of the cigarette lighter by its handle.
Make sure that children do not use the cigaj rette lighter and burn themselves.
NOTE
If metal objects fall into the socket, they can
cause a short circuit. There is a risk of damage to property. Replace the cigarette lighter or
socket cover again after using the socket.

Sockets
General
information The lighter socket can be used as a socket for
electrical equipment while the engine is running
or when the ignition is switched on.
The total load of all sockets must not exceed
140 watts at 12 volts.
Do not damage the socket by using non-comj patible connectors.
Safety
information
WARNING
Devices and cables in the unfolding area of the airbags, such as portable navigation devices, can hinder the unfolding of the airbag or be
thrown around in the car's interior during unj
folding. There is a risk of injury. Make sure that
devices and cables are not in the airbag's area
of unfolding.
NOTE
Battery chargers for the vehicle battery can
work with high voltages and currents, which
means that the 12 volt on-board network can be overloaded or damaged. There is a risk ofdamage to property. Only connect battery
chargers for the vehicle battery to the starting
aid terminals in the engine compartment.
NOTE
If metal objects fall into the socket, they can
cause a short circuit. There is a risk of damage to property. Replace the cigarette lighter or
socket cover again after using the socket.

to the USB interface.

Follow the information regarding the connection
of mobile devices to the USB interface in the

The USB interface is located between the front
seats.
Connecting
an
external
device Follow the following when connecting:
'xDo not use force when plugging the connecj
tor into the USB interface.'xUse a flexible adapter cable.'xProtect the USB storage device against mej
chanical damage.'xDue to the large number of USB media availj
able on the market, it cannot be guaranteed that every device is operable on the vehicle.'xDo not expose USB media to extreme envij
ronmental conditions, such as very high temj peratures; refer to the owner's manual of the
device.'xDue to the many different compression techj niques, proper playback of the media storedon the USB storage device cannot be guarj
anteed in all cases.'xA connected USB storage device will be supj plied with charging current via the USB interj
face if the device supports this. At higher
temperatures, the USB storage device may
cause a reduction in the charging current.'xTo ensure proper transmission of the stored data, do not charge a USB storage device via
the onboard socket, when it is connected to
the USB interface.'xDepending on how the USB storage device is

The cargo cover is in two parts. This can be rej
moved to load bulky luggage.
Removing
Rear
cover
1.Detach the retaining straps at the tailgate.2.Pry cover up a bit, arrow 1, and pull out of the
brackets toward the back, arrow 2.
Front
cover
1.Push cover out of the bracket upward on
both sides, arrow 1.2.Pull cover out of the bracket toward the rear
on both sides, arrow 2.
Installing
Proceed in the reverse order to reinstall. The
cargo covers must snap audibly into place on
their respective holders.
Enlarging
the
cargo

Depending on the vehicle equipment, the cargo area can be enlarged as follows:

informationThe rear seat backrest is divided at a ratio of 40m20m40. The side rear seat backrests and the
center section can be folded down separately.
Depending on the vehicle equipment, the rear seat backrests can be folded down from the rear
or from the cargo area.
Safety
information
WARNING
Danger of jamming with folding down the backj rests. There is a risk of injury or risk of damage
to property. Make sure that the area of movej ment of the rear backrest and the of the headrestraint is clear prior to folding down.
WARNING
If a rear seat backrest is not locked, unsecured cargo can be thrown into the car's interior;
for instance, in the event of an accident, braking or an evasive maneuver. There is a risk of injury.
Make sure that the rear seat backrest is locked
after folding it back.
WARNING
Unexpected movements of the backrest while
driving may occur due to unintentional unlockj
ing of the rear backrests by the straps. There is
a risk of injury. Do not fasten any objects to the
straps for unlocking the rear backrests.
WARNING
With a rear backrest that is not locked, the proj tective function of the middle safety belt is not
guaranteed. There is a risk of injuries or danger
to life. If you are using the middle safety belt,
lock the wider rear seat backrest.
WARNING
The stability of the child restraint system is limj
ited or compromised with incorrect seat adjustj ment or improper installation of the child seat.There is a risk of injuries or danger to life. Makesure that the child restraint system fits securelyagainst the backrest. If possible, adjust the
backrest tilt for all affected backrests and corj
rectly adjust the seats. Make sure that seats and backrests are securely engaged or locked.
If possible, adjust the height of the head rej
straints or remove them.
NOTE
Vehicle parts can be damaged when folding down the rear backrest. There is a risk of damjage to property. Make sure that the area of
movement of the rear backrest including head
restraint is clear when folding down.

they engage.3.Insert each of the two top retaining pins ofthe cargo area partition net into the receptaj
cles until they reach the stop, arrow 1, and
push them forward.4.Hook the lower three hooks of the cargo area partition net into the three eyes of the foldeddown rear backrest, arrow 2, raising the backj
rests slightly, if needed.
Make sure that the lower hooks are hooked
into the eyes from behind.

With upright rear backrests, install the small
cargo area partition net behind the second row of seats.
1.Remove the cargo cover.2.Insert each of the two top retaining pins ofthe cargo area partition net into the receptaj
cles until they reach the stop, arrow 1, and
push them forward.3.Use the two lower hooks to hook the cargo
area partition net into the upper eyes in the
cargo area, arrow 2.
Ski

snowboard
bag
The ski and snowboard bag is contained in a
protective jacket in the cargo area.
Follow the installation and owner's manual inj
cluded in the protective jacket.
