the
cargo
areaConcept
The cargo area can be enlarged by folding down
the rear seat backrest.
General
information
The rear seat backrest is divided at a ratio of 60 to 40. The left rear seat backrest is connected to
the center section.
With the through-loading system: the rear seat
backrest is divided at a ratio of 40-20-40.
The rear seat backrests can be folded down from
the cargo area. The center section can be sepaj
rately folded down from the rear.

information
WARNING
Danger of jamming with folding down the backj rests. There is a risk of injury or risk of damage
to property. Make sure that the area of movej ment of the rear backrest and the of the headrestraint is clear prior to folding down.
WARNING
If a rear seat backrest is not locked, unsecured cargo can be thrown into the car's interior;
for instance, in the event of an accident, braking or an evasive maneuver. There is a risk of injury.Make sure that the rear seat backrest is locked
after folding it back.
WARNING
The stability of the child restraint system is limj ited or compromised with incorrect seat adjustj ment or improper installation of the child seat.
There is a risk of injuries or danger to life. Make
sure that the child restraint system fits securely against the backrest. If possible, adjust the
backrest tilt for all affected backrests and corj
rectly adjust the seats. Make sure that seats and backrests are securely engaged or locked.
If possible, adjust the height of the head rej
straints or remove them.
NOTE
Vehicle parts can be damaged when folding
down the rear backrest. There is a risk of damj age to property. Make sure that the area of
movement of the rear backrest including head
restraint is clear when folding down.

1.Pull the corresponding lever in the cargo area to release the rear seat backrest.2.The unlocked rear seat backrest moves forj

Opening
Pull the handle.
The light in the glove compartment switches on.
Closing
Fold cover closed.
Locking
The glove compartment can be locked with an
integrated key to separately secure the tailgate,
refer to page 76, for instance.
This prevents access to the glove compartment
and to the cargo area.
After the glove compartment is locked, the rej
mote control can be handed over, such as at a
hotel, without the integrated key.

not use any breakable objects while driving. Only stow breakable objects in closed storage
compartments.

information A storage compartment is located in the center
armrest between the front seats.
Opening
Fold the center armrest up.
Repositioning The center armrest can be pushed forward or
backward and engages in the end positions.
Connection

device
An external audio device, for instance an MP3 player, can be connected via the USB audio inj
terface in the center armrest.

A storage compartment is located in the center
console.

There is a storage compartment between the rear seats.
Cup
holders
Safety
information
WARNING
Unsuitable containers in the cup holder and hot beverages can damage the cup holder and inj crease the risk of injury in the event of an accijdent. There is a risk of injury or risk of damage
to property. Use light-weight, unbreakable, and
sealable containers. Do not transport hot beverj
ages. Do not force objects into the cup holder.

Two cup holders are located in the center conj sole.
To open: slide the cover forward.
To close: slide the cover backward.

Pull the center armrest forward at the strap.
To open: press the button.
To close: push both covers back in, one after the
other.
NOTE
With an open cup holder, the center armrest cannot be folded back up. There is a risk ofdamage to property. Press back the covers bejfore the center armrest is folded up.

an accident. When suspending clothing articles from the clothes hooks, ensure that they will

Smaller objects can be stored in the net of right
storage compartment.
Multi-function
hook
WARNING
Improper use of the multi-function hooks can
lead to a risk of objects flying about during braking and evasive maneuvers, for example.
There is a risk of injury and risk of damage to property. Only hang lightweight objects,such as shopping bags, from the multi-functionhooks. Only transport heavy luggage in the
cargo area if it has been appropriately secured.
A multi-function hook is located on each side of
the cargo area.
Lashing
eyes
in
the
cargo
area To secure the cargo, refer to page 201, there
are two or four lashing eyes in the cargo area.
