Activating automatically
The parking aid is activated automatically at
speeds less than 6 mph (10 km/h) and when ap­
proaching an obstacle from approximately 3.1 ft (95 cm) away. There are audible signals when ap­
proximately 1.6
ft (SO cm) away from the obsta­
cle .
If you press the p,,1.I! button to switch the park­
ing a id off, it can only be reactivated automati­
cally when one of the following conditions is met :
- The vehicle speed exceeds 6 mph (10 km/h).
- The ignition is switched off and back on again.
- The parking brake is set and then re leased.

- The selector lever must be in the "P " position.
Segments in the visual display
The segments in front of and behind the vehicle
(vehicles with parking system plus*)

help you to determine the distance between your
vehicle and an obstacle. The red lines mark the
expected direction of travel according to the
steering ang le. A white segment indicates an
identified obstacle that is outside of the vehicle's
path. Red segments show identified obstacles
that are in your vehicle's path. As your vehicle comes closer to the obstacle, the segments move
closer to the vehicle . The collision area has been
reached when the next to last segment is dis­
played. Obstacles in the collision a rea, including
those outside of the vehicle 's path, are shown in
red. Do not continue driving forward or in reverse

Adjusting the display

The display and warning tones can be adjusted in
the Infotainment.

Signal tones
Front volume -
volume for the front area
Rear volume -volume for the rear area
Entertainment fader -the volume of the audio/
video source is lowered when the parking system
i s turned on.
The new value is given briefly during the adjust­ ment.

signed to the remote control key that is in

numbers and the

pear in the Infotainment system display.
-Initial entry: write an individua l upper case or
lower case letter or number/symbol on the
MMI touch control pad using your finger . A
symbol that is recognized clearly by the system
is displayed in the Infotainment system display

input field.
-Entering spaces : move your finger across the

Radio
Opening the radio
The radio supports the F M, AM and SiriusXM*
(satellite radio) bands. Using the HO Radio re ­
ceiver also allows you to receive radio stations
on the FM and AM bands in digital format.

A WARNING

stall a forward-facing child restraint on the
front passenger's seat:
- Always make sure the forward-fac ing seat
has been designed and certified by its man­
ufacturer for use on a front seat with a pas­
senger front and s ide a irbag.
- Never put the forward-facing child restraint
up against or ve ry near the instrument pan­
el.
- Always move the front passenger seat to
the highest position in the up and down ad­
justment range and move it back to the
re ar most position in the se at's fore and aft
adjustment range, as fa r away from the air ­
bag as possib le, before insta lling the for­
ward-facing child restraint .
-Always make sure that the safety belt upper
anchorage is behind the child restraint and
not next to or in front of the chi ld restraint
so that the safety belt will be properly pos i­
t ioned.
- Make sure that the
PASSENGER AIR BAG
OFF ~; light comes on and stays on a ll the
t ime whenever the ignition is switched on.

Airbag syste m

reduce the ir effectiveness or even prevent
them from providing any pro tect ion .
- An improperly installed child restra int can
interfere wi th the airbag as it deploys and
serio usly injure or even kil l the chi ld -even
wit h an Advanced A irbag System.
- Always carefully follow the manufacturer's
instr uctions provided with the child seat or
earner.
- Always make sure that there is noth ing on
the front passenge r seat tha t will cause the
capacitive p assenge r de te ction system in
the sea t to signal to the Airb ag System th at
the seat is occup ied by a person when i t is
not, or to signal that it is occupied by some­
one who is heavier than the person actually
sitt ing on the seat. The presence of addi­
tional objects could cause the passenger
front ai rbag to be turned on when it should
be off, or cou ld cause the ai rbag to work in a
way that is different from the way it wou ld
h ave wo rked withou t the objec t on the seat.
