152Driving and operatingThe instrument cluster also displays
an active battery gauge when the
vehicle is ready to be driven.
A chime will sound if the driver's door is opened while the vehicle is
switched on. Always press
POWER m to switch off the vehicle
before exiting the vehicle.
If the vehicle will not start due to a low electronic key battery, the vehicle can
still be driven.
Operation in case of failure 3 149.
RestartingCaution
If the vehicle must be restarted
while it is still moving, move the
selector lever into N and press
POWER m twice without
depressing the brake pedal. The
propulsion system will not restart
in any other way.
Emergency shut off during driving
1. Brake using a firm and steady pressure. Do not pump the brakes
repeatedly. This may reduce
power assist, requiring increased brake pedal force.
2. Shift the selector lever into N. This
can be done while the vehicle is
moving. After shifting into N, firmly
apply the brakes and steer the
vehicle to a safe location.
3. Come to a complete stop, shift into P, and switch off the vehicle
by pressing POWERm.
4. Apply the parking brake. If the vehicle cannot be pulled
over and must be shut off while
driving, press and hold
POWER m for more than
2 seconds, or press twice briefly
within 5 seconds.9 Danger
Switching off the vehicle while
moving may disable the airbags.
While driving, only shut the
propulsion system off in an
emergency.
Starting the vehicle at low
temperatures
It is recommended to plug in the vehicle when exterior temperatures
are below 0 °C to maximise high
voltage battery life.
Should the exterior temperature be
lower than -32 °C, the vehicle must be
plugged in when the vehicle is
switched on.
Parking Note
Do not allow the vehicle to remain in
extreme temperatures for long
periods without being driven or
being plugged in.
162Driving and operatinghigh voltage battery is full, allowing
space for energy from regenerative
braking.
This feature also integrates with the
Location-based charging feature,
allowing you to configure the system so it is enabled when you are at home ( On – home only ) or away (On – away
only ).
Location based charging 3 197.Ride control systems
Traction Control system The Traction Control system (TC) is a component of the Electronic Stability
Control (ESC).
TC improves driving stability when
necessary, regardless of the type of
road surface or tyre grip, by
preventing the drive wheels from
spinning.
As soon as the drive wheels starts to
spin, electric drive unit output is
reduced and the wheel spinning the
most is braked individually. This
considerably improves the driving
stability of the vehicle on slippery road
surfaces.
TC is operational as soon as the
control indicator b extinguishes.
When TC operates b flashes.
9
Warning
Do not let this special safety
feature tempt you into taking risks
when driving.
Adapt speed to the road
conditions.
Control indicator b 3 80.
Deactivation
TC can be switched off when spinning of drive wheels is required: press b
briefly.

Charge limit selection
The charge limit setting allows the
vehicle’s charge limit to be selected
so it matches the capability of the
charging location. If the vehicle
consistently stops charging after
plugging in, or if a circuit breaker
continues to trip, reducing to a lower
charge limit setting may resolve the
issue.
The charge limit setting should be
configured to match the electrical
current rating for the electrical outlet
that the charge cord is connected to.
On the Charge mode screen, toggle
the Charge limit selection between:
● 10 A
● 6 A
The charge limit setting must be
updated prior to the vehicle being
charged and the charge limit setting
will reset to a default value when the
vehicle is shifted from P.9 Warning
If the capacity of the electrical
circuit or AC socket is not known,
only use the lowest charge level
until the circuit capacity has been
inspected by a qualified
electrician. Using a charge level
that exceeds either the electrical
circuit or the AC outlet capacity
may start a fire or damage the
electrical circuit.
Electrical requirements 3 209.
Electric rate preference
The vehicle estimates the charging
start time based on the utility rate schedule, utility rate preference, and
the programmed departure time for
the current day of the week. The
vehicle will charge during the least
expensive rate periods to achieve a
full high voltage battery charge by the departure time. Electrical rate
information from the utility company
for the charging location is required
for this mode.
From the Charge mode screen with
Departure charge mode selected,
touch More to select the Electric rate
preference .
202Driving and operatingPriority charging
The priority charging feature will work
when the Departure charge mode is
selected. This feature is designed to ensure that the high voltage battery
pack has a minimal amount of energy prior to delaying a charge. Upon
completion of priority charging the
vehicle will return to normal
programmable charging operation.
The feature can be enabled or
disabled by selecting On or Off from
the Charge mode screen when the
Departure charge mode is selected.
When enabled, priority charging will
only prevent programmable charging
while the high voltage battery is
recharged from a depleted state to a
level allowing 40% of the driving
range.
Temporary charge mode override
and cancel
To temporarily override a delayed
charge event, unplug the charge cord
from the charge port and then plug it
back in within 5 seconds. A single
audible chirp will sound and charging will begin immediately. To cancel a temporary override,
unplug the charge cord, wait for
10 seconds, and then plug the charge
cord back in. A double audible chirp
will sound and charging will be
delayed.
Temporary override of a delayed
charge mode
Programmed delayed charge modes can be temporarily overridden to an
immediate charge mode for one
charge cycle. Also, the next planned
departure time can be temporarily
overridden for one charge cycle. In
addition to the in-vehicle overrides via the programmable charging screens,
there are other ways to temporarily override a delayed charge mode.
