Allowing background searches or
software updates
This function can be deactivated from the centerdisplay:
1. Go to the Settings in the center display's Topview and select Download Center.
2.Tap SystemDownload Center.
3.Tap to deselect Auto Software Update.
If an update is available, New software updatesavailable will appear in the center display's sta-tus bar. Tap the message to start a download appin Home view's lower sub-view. As soon as thedownload app has started, an icon in the Systemupdates button will indicate the number ofdownloads available.

Remote updates
With the vehicle connected to the Internet,updates for a number of the vehicle's systemscan be downloaded from the center display.
The Download Center app isstarted from the center dis-play's App view and makes itpossible to:

•download, update and uninstall apps

CAUTION
•Not checking the oil level regularly canresult in serious engine damage if the oillevel becomes too low.
•Oil that is lower than the specified qualitycan damage the engine.
•Volvo does not recommend the use of oiladditives.
•Always add oil of the same type and vis-cosity as already used.
•Oil changes should be carried out by atrained and qualified Volvo service techni-cian.
•Using oil of higher than the specifiedquality is permitted and may be neces-sary for demanding driving.

Checking and refilling engine oil
The oil level is checked electronically.
Oil filler cap6
It may be necessary to top up engine oil betweenregularly scheduled services.
No action is necessary until a message is dis-played in the instrument panel.
WARNING
•Do not allow oil to spill onto or come intocontact with hot exhaust pipe surfaces.
•If Engine oil level Service required isdisplayed, have the vehicle checked by atrained and qualified Volvo service techni-cian. The oil level may be too high.
Checking the oil level
The oil level can be checked inthe center display when theengine is not running.
From the center display'sHome view, swipe the screenfrom right to left to open Appview. Tap Car status and then tap Status toshow the oil level.

The oil level should be checked at regular inter-vals, particularly during the period up to the firstscheduled maintenance service.
If the oil level sensor indicates that the level istoo low, using the correct oil, top up with theamount of oil indicated as soon as possible.

NOTE
•The system cannot detect changes in theoil level immediately. The vehicle must bedriven approximately 20 miles (30 km) orhave been parked on level ground withthe engine off for 5 minutes before theoil level reading will be correct.
•If the necessary conditions are not metfor checking the oil level electronically(time interval after the engine wasswitched off, if the vehicle is parked onan incline, etc.), No values available willbe displayed. This does not indicate aproblem with the oil level sensor.

Windshield wipers in the serviceposition
The windshield wiper blades must be in the verti-cal (service) position for replacement, washingor to lift them away from the windshield whene.g., removing ice or snow.

CAUTION
Be sure the wiper blades are not frozen inposition before attempting to move them tothe service position.
Putting the windshield wipers in the
service position
The service position can be activated while thevehicle is stationary and the wipers are not acti-vated.
The service position can be activated in two waysfrom the center display:
Via Function view
–From Function view, tap the Wiper ServicePosition button. The indicator light in thebutton will illuminate when the service posi-tion is activated.
>The windshield wipers will move to thevertical position.
Via Settings
1.Tap Settings in the center display's Topview.
2.Tap My CarWipers
3.Tap the Wiper Service Position box.
>The windshield wipers will move to thevertical position.
Deactivating service position
The service position can be deactivated in twoways from the center display:

2. Finish by rubbing the wheel with absorbentpaper or a towel.
Type 3 (dry soil or dust)
1. Remove the soil/dust with a soft brush.
2. Same procedure as for type I stains.
CAUTION
Sharp objects, such as rings, could damagethe leather on the steering wheel.
Leather panels *
Leather should be allowed to breath. Never coverthe upper side of the dashboard or door panelswith a plastic protector. Ask your Volvo retailerabout Leather Care Kit 951 0251 and LeatherSoftener 943 7429.
Spots on interior plastic, metal, or wood
surfaces
Cleaning interior plastic components should bedone with a moist microfiber cloth. Consult yourVolvo retailer.
CAUTION
•Do not use cleaning agents with highalcohol content such as washer fluid toclean instrument panel glass.
•Never spray cleaning agents or waterdirectly onto components with electricalbuttons or controls. Clean components ofthis type by applying the cleaning agent/water sparingly to a cloth and wiping thecomponents so that no liquid penetratesinto these components.
Cleaning the seat belts
Clean only with lukewarm water and a mild soapsolution.
Cleaning floor mats
The floor mats should be vacuumed or brushedclean regularly, especially during winter whenthey should be taken out for drying. Spots on tex-tile mats can be removed with a mild detergent.For best protection in winter, Volvo recommendsthe use of Volvo rubber floor mats. Consult yourVolvo retailer.
WARNING
•Never use more than one floor mat at atime on the driver's floor. Before driving,remove the original mat from the driver'sseat floor before using any other type offloor mat. Any mat used in this positionshould be securely and properly anchoredin the attaching pins. An extra mat on thedriver's floor can cause the acceleratorand/or brake pedal to catch. Check thatthe movement of these pedals is notimpeded.
•Volvo's floor mats are specially manufac-tured for your car. They must be firmlysecured in the clips on the floor so thatthey cannot slide and become trappedunder the pedals on the driver's side.

Engine oil specifications andvolume
Full synthetic engine oil meeting the minimumACEA A5/B5 must be used. Lower quality oilsmay not offer the same fuel economy, engineperformance, or engine protection.
Volvo recommends:
Refer to the warranty and Service Records infor-mation booklet for information on oil changeintervals and oil type requirements.
NOTE
This vehicle comes from the factory with syn-thetic oil.
Oil additives must not be used.
Oil viscosity
Incorrect viscosity oil can shorten engine lifeunder normal use. SAE 5W-30 will provide goodfuel economy and engine protection. See the vis-cosity chart.

Volvo oil VCC RBS0-2AE/SAE 0W20 is recom-mended for extreme driving conditions.
