PFCW SYSTEM LIMITATIONS
WARNING
Listed below are the system limitations
for the PFCW system. Failure to operate
the vehicle in accordance with these
system limitations could result in ser-
ious injury or death.
.The PFCW system cannot detect all
vehicles under all conditions.
. The radar sensor does not detect
the following objects: — Pedestrians, animals or obsta-
cles in the roadway
— Oncoming vehicles
— Crossing vehicles
. (Illustration A) The PFCW system
does not function when a vehicle
ahead is a narrow vehicle, such as a
motorcycle.
. The radar sensor may not detect a
vehicle ahead in the following con-
ditions:
— Snow or heavy rain — Dirt, ice, snow or other material
covering the radar sensor
— Interference by other radar sources
— Snow or road spray from travel- ling vehicles.
— Driving in a tunnel
— Towing a trailer or other vehicle

ahead is being towed.
. (Illustration C) When the distance to
the vehicle ahead is too close, the
beam of the radar sensor is ob-
structed.
. (Illustration D) When driving on a
steep downhill slope or roads with
sharp curves.
. The system is designed to automa-
tically check the sensor’s function-
ality, within certain limitations. The
system may not detect some forms
of obstruction of the sensor area
such as ice, snow, stickers, for
example. In these cases, the system
may not be able to warn the driver
properly. Be sure that you check,
clean and clear the sensor area

COLD pressure:
After the vehicle has been parked
for three hours or more or driven
less than 1 mile (1.6 km) .
COLD tire pressures are shown on
the Tire and Loading Information
label affixed to the driver side center
pillar.
After adjusting tire pressure to the COLD tire
pressure, the display of the tire pressure
information may show higher pressure than the
COLD tire pressure after the vehicle has been
driven more than 1 mile (1.6 km). This is
because the tire pressurizes as the tire tem-
perature rises. This does not indicate a system
malfunction.
Stowing the damaged tire and tools
1. Securely store the damaged tire, jack and tools in the storage area.
2. Close the cargo floor cover.
3. Replace the cargo floor board.
4. Close the liftgate.
WARNING
Always make sure that the spare tire
and jacking equipment are properly
secured after use. Such items can
become dangerous projectiles in an
accident or sudden stop.

8. After starting your engine, carefully discon-nect the negative cable and then the positive
cable (
*4?*3?*2?*1).
9. Replace the vent caps (if so equipped) . Be sure to dispose of the cloth used to cover
the vent holes as it may be contaminated
with corrosive acid.
10. Put the battery cover on. Do not attempt to start the engine by pushing.CAUTION
.
Automatic transmission models
cannot be push-started or tow-
started. Attempting to do so may
cause transmission damage.
. Three way catalyst equipped models
should not be started by pushing
since the three way catalyst may be
damaged.
. Never try to start the vehicle by
towing it; when the engine starts,
the forward surge could cause the
vehicle to collide with the tow
vehicle.
CAUTION
. Do not continue to drive if your
vehicle overheats. Doing so could
cause engine damage or a vehicle
fire.
. To avoid the danger of being
scalded, never remove the radiator
cap or coolant reservoir cap while
the engine is still hot. When the
radiator cap or coolant reservoir cap
is removed, pressurized hot water
will spurt out, possibly causing
serious injury.
. Do not open the hood if steam is
coming out.
If your vehicle is overheating (indicated by an
extremely high temperature gauge reading) , or if
you feel a lack of engine power, detect abnormal
noise, etc., take the following steps:
1. Move the vehicle safely off the road, apply the parking brake and move the shift lever to
the P (Park) position.
Do not stop the engine.
2. Turn off the heater and air conditioner. Open all the windows, move the heater or air

When towing your vehicle, all State (Provincial in
Canada) and local regulations for towing must
be followed. Incorrect towing equipment could
damage your vehicle. Towing instructions are
available from a NISSAN dealer. Local service
operators are familiar with the applicable laws
and procedures for towing. To assure proper
towing and to prevent accidental damage to
your vehicle, NISSAN recommends that you
have a service operator tow your vehicle. It is
advisable to have the service operator carefully
read the following precautions.
WARNING
.Never ride in a vehicle that is being
towed.
. Never get under your vehicle after it
has been lifted by a tow truck.
CAUTION
.When towing, make sure that the
transmission, axles, steering system
and powertrain are in working con-
dition. If any of these conditions
apply, dollies or a flatbed tow truck
must be used. .
Always attach safety chains before
towing.

a recreational vehicle (RV) , see “Flat towing”
(P.10-29) .

Two-Wheel Drive (2WD) models
NISSAN recommends that your vehicle be
towed with the driving (rear) wheels off the
ground or place the vehicle on a flat bed truck as
illustrated.
CAUTION
.Never tow automatic transmission
models with the rear wheels on the
ground or four wheels on the
ground (forward or backward) , as this may cause serious and expen-
sive damage to the transmission. If
it is necessary to tow the vehicle
with the front wheels raised, always
use towing dollies under the rear
wheels.
. When towing rear wheel drive mod-
els with the front wheels on the
ground or on towing dollies: Place
the ignition in the ACC or ON
position, and secure the steering
wheel in a straight-ahead position
with a rope or similar device.

NISSAN recommends that towing dollies be
used when towing your vehicle or the vehicle be
placed on a flat bed truck as illustrated.
CAUTION
Never tow 4WD models with any of the
wheels on the ground as this may cause
serious and expensive damage to the
powertrain.

VEHICLE RECOVERY (freeing a stuck
vehicle)
WARNING
.Stand clear of a stuck vehicle.
. Do not spin your tires at high speed.
This could cause them to explode
and result in serious injury. Parts of
your vehicle could also overheat
and be damaged.
Pulling a stuck vehicle
If your vehicle is stuck in sand, snow, mud, etc.,
use a tow strap or other device designed
specifically for vehicle recovery. Always follow
the manufacturer’s instructions for the recovery
device.
Attach the tow strap to the towing hook.
CAUTION
.Tow chains or cables must be at-
tached only to the main structural
members of the vehicle or the tow-
ing hooks. Otherwise, the vehicle
body will be damaged. .
Use the towing hook only to free a
vehicle stuck in sand, snow, mud,
etc. Never tow the vehicle for a long
distance using only the towing
hook.
. The towing hook is under tremen-
dous force when used to free a
stuck vehicle. Never pull the hook
at an angle.
. Always pull the cable straight out
from the front or rear of the vehicle.
. Pulling devices should be routed so
they do not touch any part of the
suspension, steering, brake or cool-
ing systems.
. Pulling devices such as ropes or
canvas straps are not recommended
for use in vehicle towing or recov-
ery.
